Service was excellent with the gentleman at the store being extremely helpful and supportive of you finding your ideal item or items. He answered all your questions and made suggestions for you if you were looking for something specific. In addition, there was ample parking in the front of the store. Also, the store was not as inexpensive as the other nearby vintage stores, however, their items were better presented in a more customer-friendly environment.

I cannot believe that Marigold - Gateway to India was on S. Lamar when I lived on S. Lamar. Walking into the shop felt like being transported to Bangalore or Rajasthan, India. Marigold is rooted in vibrant color, texture, and uniquely Indian pieces. The overhead draped colorful cloth added to the ambience. The store offers a curated selection of Indian clothing, jewelry, accessories, and gifts. The quality and variety of the merchandise was immediately noticeable. From traditional and contemporary clothing for women, men, and children to unique accessories and decorative pieces, everything feels authentic. Lata, the owner, was super nice and welcoming! I returned the gifts (and was clear it was a bday gift) and was told by the incompetent sales person that the items would be credited to my account for future use. I asked if I would receive a physical gift card but instead she gave me the receipts totaling almost $200 and said that credit was mine and it would be under my name at the store. I finally was ready to use the credit a year later and come to find out she had returned the credit to my gifter and not Me! And the manager of the store checked and saw the credit was indeed out back to my gifter but that the credit was already spent by her. She said I'm so sorry and did nothing to make that right. So I'm now out of my birthday gift credit because of someone else's incompetence at the store. Frustrated to say the least

The refill station at Parker & Scott is probably my new favorite place! They have all kinds of options. One thing I'd never even considered that I saw there...sunscreen! How awesome is that. I just went in this time to get some hand soap, but I will be coming back here for all of our items. I'm hopeful that more people see how great of an option this place is. They also have a lot of fun/unique snacks and beverages. I purchased the hand soap, but also got a thing of dill pickle pistachios...OMG, so good. The clerk was such a lovely human and quite helpful. I will absolutely be back and will be telling all my friends about this place. Great way to shop local! Take your vessels up there and they will tare out the weight on all of them. So cool! Oh, they also have Ridwell, so you can take your batteries, plastic film (grocery bags/zip lock type bags) light bulbs, etc. This place is clearly owned and operated by someone wanting to make a positive impact on their community and world. I hope to never buy another plastic bottle again! The prices are not super marked up from the online prices of these items. They have a really nice set up for a local small business and have opened several similar stores in the area which is a great additional to the Austin community.

It's a smaller store but they have lots of well-curated pieces and a really good selection of formal wear, dresses, skirts, jewelry, etc. I was prompted to take care of this draft review and a few others today because of a dress in the window here. A friend was recently in town visiting and asked that I go back and get a picture of the dress in the window. She is thinking about purchasing it (or having me purchase it and send it to her lol). Anyway, here's something to know: items displayed in the window have waitlists for folks intersting in purchasing. Anytime I have been in the shop, including today, service is friendly and helpful. The store is clean and the vintage pieces they carry are in pristine condition. You know what I like to say at this point-shop local, support small businesses!

Interestingly, the store combines vintage items with some modern items. For example, socks, some jewelry and sunglasses are non-vintage. While the store is small, it is easy to browse. In addition, clothing and shoe items are spaced apart where you can easily view them and ferret through the racks. The value of items are reasonably priced and some items as low as $5. I did not find anything I could not live without, however, I will definitely pop in from time to time. Also, there is a fair amount of free parking. The store manager was super helpful and personable.
