This is where you should go in central Texas if you need a suit. Michael, the owner, was working the counter when I stopped by. Second Looks is clearly his baby: he's not just an attentive consultant, responding to your preferences on house, material, and tailoring (thankfully, he is not hesitant to offer his excellent suggestions on fit and styling), he's also a gentleman and a scholar, eager to share his considerable knowledge about the history of menswear, soul music, and rodeo, having been a cowboy himself before working in radio and taking over Second Looks. Michael's selection is fantastic. he showed me suits and separates from Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece, Drake's, Canali, and local Austin bespoke tailors Capra and Cavelli. He's got Allen Edmonds shoes and a great collection of belts, which seem to go very quickly. I didn't peruse his selection of casualwear, but it seemed just as well-curated and complete as his formal sections. I walked out with a Golden Fleece jacket and alligator belt having spent about $115--he gave me the educator discount. I couldn't have asked for better value. Having lived in Boston, Cleveland, Charleston, SC, Eugene, OR, Granada, Spain, and Norwich, England, I've never been so impressed by a menswear shop, let alone a secondhand store, or by its owner. As a person bringing in clothes to consign, my experience was horrible; I got absolutely nothing for a lot of effort. I brought in a couple dozen items that I spent hours ironing and delinting. I spent money and time getting wire hangers to meet their requirements. After waiting a half hour past my appointment time, and another hour for the employee to go through my items, they accepted 17 items in person. A few days later I got an email saying actually no we are only accepting 12 of those 17 items and the rest would be donated if I didn't pick them up. The email also said: Your pick-up date is X/X/2022. **YOU MUST CALL US WITHIN 10 DAYS AFTER THIS DATE IF YOU WISH TO PICK UP ITEMS THAT WERE UNSOLD - WE WILL NOT CALL YOU.** I never heard anything after that; never got any of the checks they were supposed to send. It seems surprising that none of the items sold at all. I emailed them at the address on their website, but it turns out that is a send-only address that doesn't receive email. I forgot to call in my 10 day window so I forfeited all those clothes that they had priced at hundreds of dollars. Notice that all the good reviews are from buyers; I don't see any positive reviews from consignees. read more

This consignment men's clothing store is fantastic. Classy looks, classy store, quality selection, and lots to choose from. We needed to get my college-aged son outfitted head to toe for a suit-wearing event. Michael, the owner, spent a lot of time evaluating the options with us, and putting together a package which included a smashing Hugo Boss suit, Italian leather shoes, belt, tie, and an extra pair of slacks that would match the jacket. All this for much less than a standard basic suit would have cost at Macy's. We also needed a shirt, but Michael took one look and said that he didn't have anything that would work, and sent us to Nordstrom's Rack. We really appreciated the fact that he didn't try to sell us an additional thing that wouldn't be right for us. Michael also gave my son instructions on how to unbutton/rebutton his suit when sitting down and standing back up, how to hang a jacket and pants correctly on a hanger, and other great advice. All in all, a "far exceeds expectations" customer experience! Hours are currently relatively limited. Call first to make sure they are open! read more

December 2022I took about 20 Ralph Lauren in for consignment. The sales person was too busy , but he said he would review items and let me know what he listed. March 2023, he said he would call me back. I contacted the manager, Michael who said they sold only $18. He never paid me, but he said he would return the clothes not sold to me. Almost April 2023 I have NOT received the Commission or the retuned clothes despite repeated promises they would No money and No returned merchandise. The one star is for that entire experience plus the store is located in Brodie Oaks, a remote area with empty Stores and very few people. read more

They consign men's tuxedos. If it doesn't sell, they'll offer to donate it to a non - profit ministry helping people get back into the workforce. They sell top designers including Zegna. They require you to give them your email address. I was told I would receive an email on whether the tuxedo would be accepted and how much it would sell for. I received an email after five days. After the consignment period of 90 days, they will not notify you to let you know if the item wasn't sold and donated. read more

Every person at this store is RUDE. Over the years I have consigned with them and every time I go in I am treated rudely. No greeting, no thanks for the nice things I bring them to sell...I am actually treated as if they are doing me a favor when I am bringing them merchandise! This last time, I brought them 3 Southern Tide dress shirts with tags still on and the girl was so awful to me even though they took all 3. I AM NEVER GOING BACK. NEVER. I will donate everything. Nice place. You can really find some gems here. Their catalog is mostly work clothing, not a whole lot of fun items but there are a few. There were some sweet black boots there the last time I visited. Its pretty small as well so you don't feel too over whelmed and you don't spend all day looking for something. Some of there stuff does feel a bit pricey though. I guess that's the trend in used clothing these days unless your shopping at a thrift store. I could not be happier with the overall experience, I was fitted with a like new suit and sport coat/pants combo in about an hour and walked out smiling, I had fun doing what I had chalked up to be a potentially experience. Nice store, great concept, well decorated and clean. They do have some very nice stuff here, some pretty cheap stuff as well. When it comes to pricing, I don't think they know what their doing. Many over priced and under priced items. The staff is usually ok, seem to always have some new dork who knows nothing. The younger mid twenties girl is very sweet and good at her job. the owner is very rude and short when it comes to customers. Hard to deal with. other than that it is a nice place. There are literally no other stores like Second Looks. It's a great place to find nice clothes without spending a ton like you would a Men's Wearhouse or any place in the mall. They only take higher end clothing, so you won't find any cheap stuff here. It's always a treasure hunt & you may not luck out every time you go in - but when you do it's the best! I'd stop in once every few weeks as they get new clothes regularly, I've had great luck here over the years. read more

I frequent the Mesa location, and have for years. I've gone to the Brodie Oaks on occasion. I've never seen a catalog as was mentioned by Walker. I buy mainly casual - business and otherwise, and I think they have a lot of fun things - especially knit shirts and other long and short sleave shirts. They have a good selection, including business, shoes, ties, etc. As any store, you shouldn't buy what you don't want to wear. This place has a large mixture of clothing choices. I would say it's a mix of a high end thrift store and buffalo exchange. Some items can be a bit on the pricier side, especially considering its used, but I feel like it's right on with Buffalo Exchange. You can easily find some nice clothes in here. Saturday 4/9/2016 was the best experience buying nice clothes that I have ever had in my life. I have no clue how to try on, or buy a suit, and thus was intimidated by what I was looking at. When I showed Andrew a few pictures (a celebrity who is physically similar to myself) from my phone, he led me to a rack, glanced at my arm length, eyeballed my height & withdrew a NICE Jos. A. Banks 3pc out. It was not only affordable, but fit like it had as ready been tailored for me! This was like a Disney story for a man! My wife had the second most well dressed man there. I'm not the type to buy clothes at a second hand store. However, circumstances required that I needed a suit - in a difficult size - and I just didn't want to spend a lot of money. So, I ventured into Second Looks in South Austin. What a nice surprise! The store was beautiful, the clothes were all steamed clean, and the store manager was very nice. I found a nice suit, two very very nice dress shirts (one was brand new), and two extremely nice ties. There were some real finds there (just not in my size). They had everything from jeans to boots to tuxedos in there. Definitely worth visiting. read more
