Have come here to buy cheese before. Generally a pleasant experience. My last experience tried a sample of the crackers on display, was going to buy them but when I saw the exorbitant price, I put it down. The lady sort of mocked me like with a tone of: oh too poor? "Oh looks like you're good". The reverse psychology doesn't work. No I'm not spending **$8.50** on a box of crackers worth 3-4 handfuls. read more

My mother has a service dog and the owner of this establishment was incredibly rude and accusatory when we tried to shop in this store. I told the owner that the dog in question was a service dog, which should have been abundantly obvious because the dog always wears an identifying vest (which is not even required by law). She demanded to see "the papers". This is in violation of the American with Disabilities Act. According to the ADA website: "Staff are not allowed to request any documentation for the dog, require that the dog demonstrate its task, or inquire about the nature of a person's disability." Her response was, "Well, you can buy those vests online." She implied that my mother, who has had 5 open heart surgeries, a stroke, and is currently battling cancer, is lying about having a legitimate disability. It should be noted that there is no official government registration for service dogs, which the owner should have known considering she operates a business. Regardless, the dog is certified by a private agency and professionally trained, while the disability is medically documented. This person demanded to see evidence of the legitimacy of my mother's disability and implied that we were faking it. All of this took place in front of other customers. It was humiliating and demeaning to be treated like frauds, especially since we both work in the disability field and are extremely well-versed in the ADA. We do not take kindly to people who have illegitimate service dogs so for us, private people who have jumped through every imaginable hoop to make sure that the dog is well-trained and professional, it is terrible to be treated this way. When we explained that we didn't have to show any papers in accordance with the ADA, the worker claimed that she would let it slip "this one time", therefore implying that she would not allow us to shop in her store a second time with a service dog. Her claim that we would not be allowed back in the store with the dog unless we show her papers is in and of itself a violation of the ADA. My mother and I have dedicated our lives to working with children with disabilities and have fought hard to secure rights for the disabled. It is important that everyone knows that people with disabilities are not welcome at the Royal Wren and Geneva should not be proud that this store is in their community. Or better yet, maybe every person with a service dog should show up at their store. Don't buy anything, just peruse. And take your sweet time. read more

The store inventory is ok, but I was really turned off by the owner who turned away a dad carrying a 4 year old boy that had to go to the bathroom. I understand there is a bathroom policy, but this was a little boy who really needed to go. The poor dad had to tell the boy to "Hold on little Buddy" as he ran out to find a restroom. A little compassion would go a long way for this owner. I will not return. read more

We stopped in this store and I bought an Art Towel. During our visit, the owner discussed several items with me and I looked at many more. After we left, we discussed how we felt the owner was nice enough but rubbed us the wrong way. Several days later, I noticed that the price tag didn't match the price I was charged. I called the store and the owner said she remembered me and that she had told me how much they cost. I asked if she wasn't going to honor the price tag and she said she didn't know the tag was on there. She blamed "the new girl" for putting on an old tag. This was the last towel of this design and had probably been there since the old pricing. I said I didn't realize I needed to remember everything that was mentioned to me while shopping. She then said that's okay as though she was accepting my apology and ended the phone call. Her arrogance is astounding. For the record, I found the item cheaper online than the lower marked price on the tag. I will not be back. read more

Eh. Second time in the shop and the same experience. While they have cute and interesting products the owners completely hinder the experience. Their arrogance is off putting and unnecessary. The "no pictures" signs are presumptuous, as though their products are so amazing and proprietary you'd be hard pressed to find them elsewhere. I'm certain it's because they know they are over priced. Even if they are, I'd rather support local businesses than conglomerates if I receive wonderful customer service. I was walking by and curious what was inside this cute store. The owner and other expert salesperson were helpful but not pushy. They had samples out of oils, vinegars, jams, and cookies. They said if we wanted to try anything not out they would get some. I have been disappointed with the balsamic vinegar I bought at grocery stores. I bought a bottle of their vinegar and it made everything taste like a five star chef had cooked it. I am going back to buy some of their oils. They are willing to explain the best way to use each product. read more

Really cute shop with some things I haven't seen elsewhere. We bought a few things and will be back for more. Do yourself a favor and try the fig balsamic! Trust me. The only downside is I felt like we were being followed the entire time we were in the store. My husband and I just wanted to shop and be able to talk about what we liked (by ourselves) and the owner kept following us around. It's really okay to let your customers enjoy looking around. It's a small shop, so we know where to find you when we have questions. ;) She was very friendly though, and encouraged us to try some things we hadn't tried before.
