Unfortunately, I found this place way too overpriced for my taste. Some of the olive oil to be quite honest tasted disgusting to me and I appreciate a good olive oil after buying some spice packets and then having sticker shock finding out how much it was I wanted to walk out, but my wife wanted them so bad so I bought them for her, I will be looking elsewhere now for that kind of price point I could get super premium spices. I first found this store about four years ago. I love oils and seasonings. This store has it all. Olive oils, balsamic and white balsamic. Lots of spices and soup mixes. And since I've been there they have added other sauces and hot sauces. Staff is always friendly. read more

I stumbled upon this quaint little shop during a girls day in Geneva. One of my girls raved about their oils and beer can chicken spice. I love to cook and love experimenting with different spices so I was in! The shop is a good size and filled with lots of goodies. Everything seemed very clean. We were greeted by an employee who let us know about the specials and that we could try any of the spices with the testers. (I thought that was weird at first but you have to try some of these they are delicious even in dry form) I love that all the spice pouches give you suggestions on how to use them. I believe the special was 5 spice pouches for $30 when I was there. I got a variety of spices that I don't have at home and my much needed star of anise to make pho with! I love that they have salt free spice mixes as well, as sodium can make some people swell up. I had the chance to try one olive oil I believe it was raspberry, a bit too sweet for me. I tasted my friends olive oil balsamic mix at home and it was delicious so I will be coming back to get me some of that! :) If you are familiar with Penzey's this is a very similar place. I'm a seasoning fan, so that's the section where I spend most of my time. The coffee BBQ rub is simply the best steak seasoning I have ever had. Smoky with a little bit of sweet and spice. I would go back just for this rub alone. Plus, the roasted garlic and wild mushroom is a winner on seafood. They also have an island lime flavor that I use on salmon. Their staff is very knowledgeable as well. They've given me a small free packet of garlic seasoning before and it makes tremendous garlic bread and it's even great on popcorn. read more

Came here by accident when hanging out in Geneva and found a new favorite store. The owner took time explaining all the types of seasoning, oils and vinegars they had. He then gave us some samples and I was hooked. You might think you could put together your own spice packs or find as flavorful balsamic vinegars but, you'd be mistaken. I used the seasonings on a variety of dishes such as spaghetti meat sauce and fajitas (steak and chicken). This kicked up the quality of my cuisine by orders of magnitude. Love Galena Garlic. Best oils and balsamics around. I have been to the one in Galena as well. You must try the cranberry pear balsamic w the roasted walnut olive oil. I use together as a salad dressing. Little goes a long way. I stock up and take advantage of their deals and return bottles. $1 return on bottles I use toward my new purchases. read more

The coconut white balsamic vinegar is delicious. The lime olive oil is very potent. They mix well together. Biggest complaint: expensive!

Cute store - a bit over priced and the owner needs to put prices on the items - it's a pain to keep asking an employee what something costs, have them ask the manager and then get back to me with the answer...and then I got sticker shock at the counter because the employee gave me the incorrect price on two of the items...not sure that I would return. read more

This place is great. They have a wide selection of spices, both pre-mixed and separate. They also have salt blocks for cooking, which is unique compared to other spice shops in the area. They are a bit pricey, but considering the specialty and the area, it's what one would expect. They do sell whole ghost peppers, dried but with the seeds intact. They also have a nice selection of vanillas. Most everything is available to try before you buy as well. read more

This place has the best selection of herbs, rubs, and more sea salts than I know what to do with! Their coffee-bbq rub and sel gris are staples in my kitchen, and I love the applewood smoked sea salt over chocolate. Their collection of vinegars and oils are both delicious and extensive. If you're a foodie, this is the best place in the world! Great choices of balsamics as well as 100 percent quality olive oils. They have a huge selection of balsamics that are infused with other flavors like strawberries coffee chocolate Etc . I have met over 4 of their staff members at different times and every single time they do not disappoint. They are extremely knowledgeable about their products as well as friendly. They change up there olive oils from time to time so you want to visit frequently. This place is the real deal. I especially like they're 18 and 25 year aged balsamics. Incredible products! If you're tired of the same old rubs and spices found in the grocery store, check these guys out. I've used a few of their rubs and seasonings and have never been disappointed. This is my favorite olive oil/balsamic store! I recently visited and found the customer service to be above exceptional. The owner goes out of his way to assist customers. They helped me make selections, made recommendations for uses and combinations and were very attentive to my needs. This family owned business truly puts the customer first. The oils and balsamic are top quality. They have oils I could not find anywhere else, like pistachio oil. The rubs and spices are fresh and balanced. Many of the spice packets are no salt. Spices are a bit expensive. Olive Oil soap, wow it is the best! I go to Galena at least once a year for several years. Always get the soap. Always waited on by the very petite women with the exotic accent. She is just great! Very friendly helpful, just wish I would have got her name so when I return I could call her by name. What a WONDERFUL experience! I have shopped here in the past, and came in today to stock up. The owner was in today, and he told me that they were celebrating 14 years in business! $14 per bottle! STOCK UP NOW! The owner was so fun and friendly! He said they were having a "party" to celebrate, and we even took a picture! SO FUN! The oils and balsamic are superior quality. The selection is amazing, and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I cook with the oils, make salads with the oils, and will not use anything else! If you want to try amazing combinations for salad dressings, this is the place! By the way.....cinnamon pear balsamic with blood orange olive oil on top of butter lettuce and sliced pears and walnuts......the best salad ever! I love this place! AND.....on my way out, the owner stepped outside to check if traffic was clear to pull out onto main st. (Traffic is kind of crazy during the day!) good selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegar. We tried the serrano chipotle oil, which we used to stir fry chicken and fresh veggies, but the thing is, the oil costs almost triple what olive oil from the grocery store, and yet all we get is a slight change in taste. It hardly seems worth the effort and extra cost. The balsamic vinegars are more unique. We tried a blackberry honey version, and used to make a light salad dressing - now we have something different at least. It was pretty good, but still pricey for what you get. The store itself is nothing exceptional. A long counter in the middle with all the oils and vinegars stacked next to each other, with small plastic cubs to taste with. For these gourmet food prices I would have hoped for some fresh baked bread to use for tasting, or something to create a more memorable user experience. There were also spices along the wall, found a great dried diced jalapenos. If I remember correctly, app $5 a bag, but really jazzed up the steak for steak tacos. So all in all, a decent place to visit if you are downtown Geneva, or looking for a different gist idea, but probably not worth driving a long ways to get here just for this store. read more

So cool to have a place that is truly different. Not just great products, but a fun atmosphere as well. Nice looking store with great music. I have been a customer at their Galena store for years now, but this location makes things easier for us Chicagoland customers. Found this place on a weekend trip about 4 years ago and there isn't anything better. Have been a loyal online customer since then. Quality is top shelf and the product is authentic. Wow I have not been in downtown Geneva for awhile and needed to make a trip to pickup some olive oil at the olive mill. I just happened to park on Main Street directly behind the store and I could not believe my eyes, another olive oil store. Thinking that the olive mill was gone I poked my head around the corner and there it was. Amazed beyond belief why someone would take that risk in such a small town. You could literally walk out Galenas back door and into the back door of the olive mill. So I stopped in and the shop has a nice appearance and offers a wide range of seasonings which I bought a few. I just can't wrap my head around offering oils and vinegars. Competition is good but to me this is vicious and that is why I gave them 2 stars. Could be another reality tv show.
