Stopped in to buy track shoes for my son, out of state previous local that wanted to support a local business in my old community. The owner brought up politics when I simply asked if he carried a certain style of Nikes. I nicely said I didn't want to discuss politics just wanted to buy shoes and I was then told that myself and my son are Anti-American. Went home and ordered the shoes online. read more

I'm all about supporting locally rooted shops...and from what I hear, the shop is goodness and has been for years as they have been grounded in the community for a long time (Knowledgeable staff, sponsoring and actually running local races, etc.) However, unfortunately my first experience at this shop was a bummer... I came in and knew what running shoe and color I wanted. Easy, right? I was advised that it could be ordered........ but then, that it could only be ordered in a 1/2 size larger in that particular color but that the size difference wouldn't be an issue on my foot.... .......Ok, I went with that... I was told a length of days that it would be in, but that most likely it would be in sooner. I did not receive a call around the length of days mentioned so I called the shop myself. When I called, I was told that they could not get it until late in the year? What???? ...and no mention as to why they didn't call to let me know sooner? If this was back in the 1980's - mid 90's, ok I probably would have gone with the flow... but I have the internet at my finger-tips and I after I hung up I found my shoe/color/size at Zappos for $50 cheaper the same day and I'll have it much quicker than the ordering schema The Runners Shop advised of. I understand it can be hard for brick and mortar stores to survive in the days of 'I can get anything online' environment. BUT...that's where having a knowledgeable staff on hand, personable, trustworthy, and the customer-service-is-king experience, needs to be there. I'd buy local and pay more for that hands-down, if I can have that. I'll be back in the Runners Shop again for sure, looking for that awesome local-shop appeal. Tried this shop because I had started exercising again and was tired of aching feet. I could never get just the right fit at the big box stores. They did a short visual assessment of my walking style and recommended several different shoes in the appropriate category. Of course, the ones that fit the best were the most expensive, but that's normally how it goes, and they felt great. What I did not expect was for the sales person to check the discount rack and find the exact same shoe (last year's model) in my size. She didn't have to do that and ended up saving me about 25% off the cost. I'm sold on this place, and this is were I'll do my shopping from now on. Perfect service from start to finish. read more

Getting back into running after a hiatus of many many years, I went to the Runners Shop. I have oddly shaped feet and a terrible time finding shoes that fit. They took the time needed to look at my feet and finding shoes that fit me perfectly, and that made getting back into running so much less painful (no blisters and no injuries!) I've gone there ever since for my running needs, and also for my swimming needs. I think their prices are fine, and we need shops like this in the area. read more

Had the worst experience at this runner shop. It was recommended that I get fitted here but the service was so terrible. We waited 45 mins to an hour and the older guy kept ignoring us. The older gray haired guy is racist. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Buy your shoes online. read more

I don't write reviews but something should be said. WOW! Do you teach customer service to your staff or do you think because you are a specialty store you don't need to treat your consumers well? I waited for help, stood right next to the 2 representatives and they didn't say a word. I was just about ready to walk out when finally said something. It doesn't take much to acknowledge a customer. "Hello, I will be right with you" would have been good enough. I asked if they could help me pick out some running shoes. Even though this is a "Running" shop she acted as though I was asking her to go dress shopping with me. I explained the issue I was having with my feet when I run(I know many people have the same problem). Her eyes got big and she gave me a blank stare. She commented on my sandals saying they are not helping my feet. I decided to purchase some shoes only because I needed some good shoes asap. As I put my sandals back on to leave and go back to work. She gave me a rude look and are you going to wear those shoes? I said I can't wear sneakers to work. Her response as she wrinkled her nose " You Can't ? Wear do you work ?" I explained that I have never worked in a professional environment which people wore sneakers. Most professional employers prefer that you don't wear sneakers. She was completely shocked. I hate the fact that I bought something from this store... I was very pleasant, hoping the "girl" would match me. If she would have smiled just once it would have helped. The sad thing is I think the owner was also there. What does that say ? You really need to take pride in store. I would give a zero if it was possible but the girl at least apologized for her personal text while I was trying on shoes. read more

So I am somewhat disappointed although I love my running and trail shoes. This was my first visit to the store which was highly recommended. Because I hike so much and running on trails, I believe strongly in taking care of my feet. So after walking and running in the store I was told my style of doing both was very normal. I guess I expected more from professionals. I am out of both hiking and running, again. I had to seek advise from an orthopedic surgeon for my knee. YES, my knee tendons are extremely inflamed. The doctor's observation was because the right foot has no arch while the left is high arched. He advised me to get my shoes from the Runner's Shop". read more

Great customer service and great quality shoes. A little pricey but your feet are worth it!

I stopped in to look at new trail/road running shoe. First, the customer service I received was terrible. The guy was engaged in conversation with someone else about the high school shooting and rodeo teams. He may have said all of five words to me. Second, I wear a 7/7.5 and asked for a size 7.5 because that is what I wear in a running shoe. I used to work at the FinishLine and I am very well versed in sizing shoes. He brought me an 8 and when I asked he snapped we don't have that size and you want a half size larger anyway when you run. (Insert eye roll, yeah that's why I asked for a 7.5). He proceeded to have his side conversation not bothering to ask what I liked/didn't like about the shoes he gave me to try. I had intended on purchasing several items I needed at their store because I prefer to shop local, instead I walked out with nothing and a very bad taste for this store. I am very disappointed. After posting my review on Facebook, one of the owners contacted me and apologized stating she (Pat) was not there that day. She may not have been at the store, however, her husband Dennis (the other owner) was. He was discussing skiing and how it led to running with another customer. I feel like I was given excuses and after I told her Dennis was there, she states she showed all her employees the above review and was sorry the interaction between me and that employee was not observed. Dennis was sitting right behind us... If you truly want people to give you a second change, don't make excuses for poor behavior, make it right. read more

I went to The Runner's Shop on recommendation from a friend. He loves the shoes he purchased and the customer service. For me, the story is different. I went in looking for walking shoes, the staff member acted as though I was a bother and wanted to get me out of there. I purchased the shoes he recommended, because the reasoning sounded right. However, because I am very flat footed a shoe with a "solid" arch just digs in to the bottom of my foot. I took them back and explained this to a different person after a few days. They put me in a different shoe, but a size larger. I thought it was to big, but again went with their recommendation. After walking less than a mile they were bothering my feet (they were slipping along the bottom and rubbing, making them burn). I went back and was told they are the proper size I just wasn't tying them correctly. I now tie them how I was told and still I can't walk a mile without my feet burning from my feet sliding back and forth rubbing along the bottom because there's so much extra room. I am now out over $100, and have to go purchase a new pair I can walking in. I expected better customer service. read more
