I've been going to Carson off and on for more than 40 years. I've always enjoyed its funky…read moreatmosphere but particularly enjoy the mineral water soaks and swimming pool. I went with my daughter the other day and was saddened at how the newer management has let things down. The pro's: You can still get a soak and wrap in a private tub. You can still pay by the hour to use the pool. The lobby offers free tea, water, and coffee while you wait. Hotel room nightly rentals include unlimited use of the pool. Massages are available with advance booking. The resort has a restaurant up at the golf course. The con's: They have decided to do away with reservations and go by walk-in, first come first serve basis. The leads to a back-log, pile up situation. When you drive an hour or more to get there, the last thing you want is to discover you are going to have to wait a couple of hours and then have your reservation still be late by 20 minutes. The bath house staff are overwhelmed, probably due to understaffing. They kept us waiting for several minutes, after already being 20 minutes behind, while the one stressed out woman on duty raced around cleaning tubs, wrapping up folk who gad chosen the combo, re-filling tubs, handling laundry, checking people in. She then forgot me in my tub after my 25 minutes soak while she served others. After an hour and ten minutes I just climbed out. I never got my wrap. The massage technicians are varied in skill and approach. At my last massage, I ended up with a mediocre massage delivered by someone who seemed to have no more than a perfunctory knowledge of body mechanics and technique. At the price charged I expected more. The restaurant is pricey; also mediocre. You will do better at one of the few places in Carson--the cute coffee/sandwich joint with real food, or the brewpub. Or find the food cart at the end of town by the mill. The housekeepers do a good job on the rooms, which are very basic; overpriced for what they are. They discontinued "women identified only" hours at the pool, which were popular. I shared the pool with a group of Russian Old Believers once who are too modest for co-ed bathing. Its a big loss. --It doesn't make me happy to write this review. It makes me less happy to see how this once smooth running, accessible, local attraction has fallen into a sort of money making vacuum. Hopefully, its just a phase and they'll return to quality and service based values as once existed there.

My fiancée had a massage done by Tracy, and she was very pleased with it. I personally spent a good amount of time in the hot tub and found it relaxing, peaceful, and view we had from the third floor was amazing. My fiancée and I had a conversation with some of the staff there and they were friendly and knowledgeable about the resort. I have a few critiques, but I consider them minor due to the price and area. The bed was not the most comfortable and the blankets were very thin. The room also had not been cleaned very well, cobwebs on the ceiling, old food on the balcony, and I counted around ten or more spiders I had to get rid of. I also thought the rooms had recently been renovated, and if they were the crew they hired did a patch job. I noticed drywall nails pushing out, and repair jobs done without texture. Our fridge also did not work very well and did not keep our drinks or food cold. I was also saddened to hear that the trails on the property had been closed, but there are a lot of other ones around the area. I think Carson Hot Springs Resort has a LOT of potential. I don't find this place to be a luxury resort, but it is a comfortable one. My fiancée and I will definitely be planning another stay here and thank you for the comfortable experience you have created.

Unfortunately, I need to update my original review because what started as a pretty simple concern…read morehas now turned into almost three months of unnecessary frustration. During our stay at the end of May, I saw what appeared to be a small red, worm-like organism near the pool area. I reported it to staff and followed up afterward. Carson Hot Springs responded and told me they would look into it. Cool. That's literally all I wanted them to do. Since then, I've followed up multiple times asking one very simple question: What did y'all find? I haven't asked for a refund. I haven't asked for a free stay. I haven't asked for compensation or anything else. I just want to know whether they investigated it, what they found, and whether there was anything my wife and I should've been concerned about after using the facilities. I first followed up June 4. Again June 11. I've emailed multiple times since and also tried reaching them by phone. It's now August. Still no answer. Somehow the situation has gotten even more ridiculous because my email address now appears to have been blocked. Come on now. If you investigated and found out it was completely harmless, GREAT. That's actually the answer I WANT. Tell me that and we can all keep it moving. If you identified what I saw, tell me what it was. If nobody actually investigated it, just be honest about that too. Instead, something that could've been resolved with a two minute email has turned into nearly three months of me asking the same question while getting absolutely nowhere. That's what has completely changed my opinion of this place. Things happen at hotels and resorts. I understand that. How a business responds when a guest brings something to their attention tells me a whole lot more. Based on how this has been handled, I can no longer recommend Carson Hot Springs Resort. I have the emails documenting the entire situation, including their original response telling me they would look into it. I'm not looking for anything other than the answer I've been asking for since May. What did y'all find? That's it. Blocking my email definitely didn't answer the question.

I will start with the good before i get to the worst part. I had wonderful service from the front desk ladies and a great massage from my massage therapist. I booked a reservation at Skamania Lodge for my boyfriend's birthday to unwind and feel refreshed. His massage therapist, Rebecca very proudly denied his service because " his muscles were too tense" yet it wasn't causing him any pain and wasn't uncomfortable for him. She said she felt uncomfortable proceeding so canceled the 80min massage without even trying a more gentle approach. In my experiences, we have had MANY massages and not once has this happened. As a masseuse you are trained to work with tense muscles so this to me is absolutely appalling and beyond words. This was the highlight of our stay and I was excited to book this for him. We were let down 100% and i think everybody should stay clear from Rebecca. She is unprofessional. She also confronted me and proceeded to have an attitude and roll her eyes at me " apologizing" and explaining why she couldn't do it and wasn't happy I wasn't understanding as to why she did that. The manager was accommodating and a gave us a couple vouchers for the restaurant and I appreciate that.

But Laurie's amazing! She was recommended to me by Michelle Graves (who is also amazing) when Michelle was on leave. I never thought about this until I read someone else's review but Laurie really is a wonderful listener with a calming presence. I've had a lot of stress in my life in the past from work and a car accident. Seeing Laurie improves my pain level and overall health. But I always leave Laurie's office much more relaxed and less stressed - I think in part it's her presence in addition to her skills as an acupuncturist. She takes care of muscle spasms, allerigies, insomnia, stress to just name a few. Like Teresa said, she will also offer suggestions for herbal remedies (even via email) and never pushes a sell which I've experienced before. I'm torn between Laurie and Michelle because both are the best. Bonus is Laurie has night hours. I do miss her Saturday hours though because it was nice to have the option to not cram in a session during the work week. She also accepts Blue Cross PPO.
