She was late and double‑booked for my appointment time. The receptionist still had me wait and then, without even telling me, she placed me with a completely different stylist. I spent 10-15 minutes discussing my hair goals, sharing photos, and planning a future appointment, again, all under the assumption that I was speaking with the stylist I had intentionally selected. The stylist I was seated with never once clarified her identity, even when I showed her a photo of a hairstyle from the salon's website created by the stylist I originally booked. She never once said, that's not my work. When my appointment confirmation text came through, I noticed the name didn't match. I returned to the salon, and the receptionist told me, "Oh, I gave you to someone else since your stylist was late." WHAT?!!! And you didn't think to tell me??? To make matters worse, the stylist they switched me to has only been at the salon for a few months and isn't even being promoted on the salon's website, while the stylist I chose has years of experience -- a detail that mattered to me. At this point, I had lost all trust and confidence in the business practices of this salon - I canceled the appointment. Honesty, integrity, and communication are not Salon Cozzolino's strengths. This was a frustrating, misleading experience that left me feeling very deceived.

Since the salon is located in Downtown Redwood City, there will not be any free parking as everything is metered street parking - Bring some quarters. Spruce Salon is taking every Covid-19 precaution possible - Only a limited number of stylists are allowed to work at a time {with chairs more than 6 feet apart}, each stylist is only allow to service one client at a time, both the stylist and the client must wear a mask the entire time and a temperature check is given prior to entering the salon. All of these procedures made me feel super comfortable in being in a salon again. My husband has been going to Spruce for years for his haircuts and raved about Nicole, so I decided to give her a shot when going in for a full highlight and a haircut - I am beyond thrilled to have found Nicole - She is a Hair Genius! I am a very easy going person and my hair is the one thing that I can tend to get picky about so I usually go into a salon with several pictures of what I am looking for {and as someone who previously managed salons/spas for years and years, I know this can be a stylists nightmare} - Nicole was amazing and looked through all of my pictures and I put my trust in her to see my vision - She exceeded what I was looking for 10 fold! From Downtown San Jose to Santa Clara's Koreatown, I have had my hair cut by a variety of stylists across the region at different price points. I'm usually happy for a couple weeks. Then, the appeal starts to fade. I start fussing with my hair in the mirror or in the Zoom window. Miguel has been my barber for over two years, and he is the first one who has given me the confidence that my hair always looks good. I have none of the anxiety of sitting in the chair I typically have, and it's easy 30 minutes of cutting and conversation. Though the sports memorabilia on the walls aren't exactly my vibe, it doesn't matter to me when the haircut is supreme.
