Excellent ice cream. A little pricey, but worth every penny. I got the Chocholic (basically triple chocolate), and my wife got chocolate chip cookie dough. Cute little shop on Leonardtown's main drag, that includes an arcade and a bakery as well (the bakery side was closed when we went though). This was actually our second trip here (first trip was about 6 months ago, but I forgot to leave a review). Last time I got cookies & cream and my wife got honey lavender. This is a great addition to Leonardtown, especially in this crazy heat! We've been dying for a great ice cream place and The Salted Scoop definitely nails it. We got the chance to try a bunch with the Ice Cream Flight - which is genuinely one of the coolest things I've seen!! You get a small scoop of six different flavors all of your choice, meaning you can get a little taste of everything to share with family and friends. I really loved that aspect of the shop. Found this little place on my maps looking for the new Heritage location and decided to walk and see if it really existed. Turns out it does and it's behind the firehouse! Curious how long it's been there bc I've been to the firehouse a billion times for events and never noticed it. The shop is located inside a cute little market full of other shops that sell odds and ends, many pertaining to Southern Maryland life and it's allllllllllllll the way in the back in a corner. There's a cute bathroom on the way to relieve yourself during the long trip lol. They offer a wide array of flavors so you're likely covered. There's even an ice cream flight in case you're unable to land the plane and choose. We went with blueberry cheesecake (2x), chocolate peanut butter, butter pecan, vanilla, and I forgot the last one. For the warm day, I really enjoyed what I had, and I'll def re-up the blueberry cheesecake again, but will I dream about or even crave it, probably not. I think it came down to texture. There seemed to be more of an ice than cream base and it's hard to fully appreciate the flavor that way. Four stars bc service was good, they offered samples, the flight is a super cute idea. Give it a try. It might rock your foodie world. read more

Just a quick update to my first review when I saw the ice cream truck driver puffing away on a cigarette while driving the truck. The guy driving was the owner and told me there was no product on the truck so what did it matter...:lol Keep in mind that same truck was at a fire dept food truck night I was at an hour later. If you want to berate me about how hard it is to be a small business owner then do it right. I'm sure the health department would appreciate you smoking in the truck too. read more

Delicious homemade ice cream with so many flavors to choose from. I enjoyed the peanut butter overload; it was very peanut buttery and chocolatey- which are my favorites! My husband got the honey lavender and it tasted like a honeysuckle with a hint of lavender. My son got the Orange creamsicle and that was really good too. I am excited to come back and get the flight of 6 half scoops of ice cream. It comes in a little try so you can choose 6 different flavors. Check their hours and stop by. Super cute ice cream shop in a nice little market with a lot of local shopping variety. I chose the Almond Joy ice cream on a cake cone. I didn't find many almonds in the ice cream but it was super creamy - you can tell the Salted Scoop uses high quality ingredients. My partner got a two-scoop dish with Peanut Butter Overload and Milk Chocolate. She wished the Peanut butter overload was made with chocolate ice cream (rather than vanilla) but combining the two was a good substitute. We'll definitely be back. read more

It was a First Friday event that attracted us to this location so my wife and I decided that ice cream was going to be our dinner. After the short walk from downtown we went into Shepherds Old Field Market and found The Salted Scoop. We didn't notice the outside access until we had left. The young lady was patient with us as we tried to decide what we wanted. Already we knew that our Doberman was going to have some doggie ice cream. He didn't eat any of it. Not sure if he was too excited about the outing or what, he is a spoiled brat that has ice cream almost every night at home. It was disappointing to throw it away. Anyways, My wife ordered the Pistachio milk shake and she really enjoyed it. I ordered some Burnt Carmel Bourbon Brittle ice cream, which was good as well. I really enjoy ice cream but I didn't think this was a special experience. Maybe I need to try different flavors to give a fair review. As of now, I wouldn't make the 20 minute drive just to have their ice cream but if Im in the area maybe Id stop in if the mood was right. read more

Best ice cream in Southern Maryland hands down.. it's hard to find and the parking lot is a little weird, but it's worth it. Sooo good and creamy I suggest Raspberry Cheesecake that is my favorite so far. If you really love peanut butter and chocolate the Peanut Butter Overload is very good as well. read more
