I have been a customer here for YEARS, and NEVER had a bad experience before tonight!!! I placed a carry out order, which was Texas fajitas. I got ALL the way home which is 30 mins away, I went to eat my dinner and there was NO tortillas in the bag. So I called and I get a RUDE gentleman telling me that I need to drive 30 mins back there and then 30 mins back home and he would not replace my entire order, he would only give me the tortillas! So I'm supposed to waste an hour out of my time, waste my gas, and the only thing he would do is give me the tortillas. I will NEVER order or eat here again!!! RIDICULOUS! Affordability-wise, by far one of the best restaurants in the area to get a solid, fresh meal for under $15. But when it comes to the quality of the food and experience as a whole, there are competitors that do it better. Service is very prompt and kind. However, the food is just OK. The booths are spacious and seat 6 people, and there are also large tables for large parties. The chips are tasty, but the salsa is too plain. We ordered cheese dip, and that was good. I ate the lunch size fajitas and while it was good, it wasn't over the top great. Some of the vegetables were charred, and the refried beans were not good. My son did not enjoy the chicken quesadilla however, my daughter enjoyed the steak quesadilla. Salsas is a frequent visit for us. I will be the first to admit the Mexican food at Salsa's is not the best I've ever had. However, we are from the west coast and expecting food in Southern Maryland to rival that would be foolish. But I will say that it's definitely some of the better food in SoMD. What I will say is that the menu has a huge amount of options, an entire vegetarian section, and wonderful portions for the price. The food always comes out quick, hot, and without error. Our favorite server is Jose and he always makes the best Michealadas and truly treats us like family. This will always be our go to spot when we want Mexican food during the week. read more

Food is excellent and the staff are amazing. I recommend it to everyone if you want to eat authentic Mexican food. The food is fresh to your liking. Ok, Leonardtown has a low-key Mexican spot that's on point. I appreciate the authenticity of the cuisine.. The ambience allows you to take adventure the country itself. My sever was very attentive to what my wife and I wanted to choose from the menu either though we were a little indecisive. He did a good job, exercising patience and consideration. For today at lunch i decided i wanted a fried ice cream from the salsas in leonardtown. As im eating it i see a little darkness but just think maybe it was burnt. Continuing to eat it i notice what appears to be little legs falling off and see a bug figure. I show my colleges to make sure im not crazy and look at it closer. It is a bug. and a big one. So as one would do i proceeded to go back to ask for my money. I tell one man and he goes to get the manager maybe (David) . Before he even looks at it proceeds to start with attitude and shred the bug up saying it's a piece of chicken. Continues to talk to me like i'm stupid saying "it's deep fried ice cream, it obviously goes in a deep fryer like our chicken". I tell him it is obviously a bug you can see it and i have photos of it before he sat up there shredding it. He continues to be rude to me and say "Don't spread false information . I know what i'm selling. ." So in case anyone wants to go to leonardtown salsas to get ice cream they have chicken ( which is actually a roach) in your food and the service doesn't even say sorry for the confusion or the fact THERE IS A BUG IN MY ICE CREAM instead they will be rude to their customers . The food was atrocious. We order the nachos supreme and it was just terrible. How do you screw up nachos? By having no salsa, no onions, one wedge of tomato and a bunch of lettuce just dropped in a plate. Maybe some actual CHEESE and not some disgusting liquid cheese product. Learn from my mistake and avoid this place like the plague. This is a really good Mexican restaurant. I don't know why it took so long to check them out. They have an extensive menu with lots of choices. The tacos are large and full, as are the enchiladas and burritos. The fajitas come out sizzling and smoky like they should be setting off smoke alarms! The food is juicy and wonderful. Even the salsa is amazing. They bring it in bottles for you to pour in your little bowl. This makes it easy to refill as they just bring a new bottle instead of trying to carry more bowls. I haven't had a chance to order drinks yet, but I have seen huge bottles of beer served, 24oz maybe? Also want to try the margaritas as they look good too. I definitely prefer to come here than the other Mexican places around. read more

My family has been going to Salsas's for nearly 15 years. We have had many meals there and most of the time the service and the food has been good. The last few times we have gone I have ordered the ribeye steak because although I absolutely love their chips and white sauce, most of the food on the menu is too spicy for me. Let me say though, my husband and kids really love the food. Last evening we went for dinner and the server we had was kind of slow and by the time we got the white sauce the chips were cold. Took a while to get drinks too but they were just coming off of a dinner rush, so understandable. I ordered the ribeye steak, medium well. When our dinner arrived the steak was rare - juices were full on bloody which I cannot do. We finally flagged our server down and I explained to him that the steak was rare and I had ordered it medium well. He said he would take it back to the kitchen and when I asked him how long it would take he said about five minutes - and I responded that five minutes is a long time, really just needed to put it back on the grill for a little bit as their ribeyes are very thin. Doesn't take long. After a few minutes he returned with the steak and it was so overdone and was completely dry and tough. He did not stick around long enough for me to even check the steak. I tried to eat a couple of bites but it was inedible now. At this point I had to go find another server because no one came back to ask how things were. Pablo who was not our server helped me - he's great by the way - always friendly and when he has been our server in the past our meals have been perfect. I explained the situation to him and showed him the steak. He said no problem let me get this right for you. So yes, let me also say it is frustrating to have to send part of your meal back because the rest of your meal gets cold which at this point after two tries with the steak, my food was cold and my husband was nearly finished with his meal. A few minutes after Pablo had taken the overdone steak to the kitchen, David came to our table. We were not really sure what he was trying to convey even after a long discussion. When he approached our table he said he was checking to see how things were and seemed to be offering another menu selection. We explained that Pablo had taken the steak back and what happened to this point. He then said he wanted to offer me something else on the menu. I explained to him there was nothing else on the menu that I wanted and that we were waiting for replacement for the steak. He then made two comments which were deal breakers for me. The first was that " Salsa's is not a steakhouse" and the second was to say that I "had been a problem before sending food back to the kitchen". I explained to him that yes this had happened before and that if they were not able to cook a steak medium well, did they expect the customer to be happy with it rare? He went on to say he was part owner in the restaurant and that steak cost him $10 and was now wasted as if somehow I were responsible for that. Also will mention somewhere in the course of the conversation I used the word "shit" and he was greatly offended by this. He told me he was "an educated man and did not use language like that and felt it was disrespectful". I looked at him in disbelief but apologized and said "I'm sorry I did not mean to offend you by using the word shit". At that moment, another server named Ophelia whom we also think very highly of was walking past the table and I asked her to come over to our table for a moment and began to explain what was going on to her and that we were pretty surprised by David's reaction and really not sure what he was trying to accomplish. She tried to disarm the situation that had evolved and David then walked away. Ophelia did her best but at this point we were pretty shocked and frustrated and yes for me, still hungry. Throughout this entire time we never saw our server. When he finally returned to the table with the steak, we asked for to go boxes and a check. A restaurant I once trusted, now I was not sure I even wanted to eat the steak that had replaced the original one. But because David emphasized they were wasting money on the steak, we paid for it anyhow. Although to be fair, they did try to credit us the steak and we declined the offer. Even today in reflecting on that entire fiasco I'm not sure what David's real point was other than to express his displeasure for me not being agreeable to eating a steak that was prepared rare and should've been medium well, or finding it acceptable to eat the re-cooked steak that was absolutely inedible due to being totally over-cooked, ...or the fact that I didn't elect to select something else off the menu as a replacement. I can say with certainty though, that the way we were treated after years of our family patronizing this restaurant, they have lost a customer. read more

This place was not good at all. I came with my friend and she received a "quesadilla" with zero cheese in it. After she sent it back she got it back freezing cold. We also ordered "spinach dip" if you could call it that. It was literally regular cheese dip with a piece of spinach in it with oil... Do not come here unless it's you're last option. read more
