First visit. Not a great experience. Interior smelled like something was "off"...spoiled milk or similar. Yuk. Service was friendly and prompt. Glazed cinnamon lacked flavor....not enough cinnamon I guess. Also had Leche-something (forget the whole name). Meh. Crazy expensive. Tables outside were filthy. I've passed by this place a thousand times and had yet to stop in so since I had the day off, I decided to stop in. There's an open parking lot behind the restaurant to park and if you're a patron of the businesses, you don't have to pay. When I first walked in, I immediately smelled something sour. Not sure if it was the trash that needed to be taken out or what but it was a bit unpleasant. I know they specialize in specialty donuts but some locations do have regular glazed donuts which is what I was looking for. Unfortunately they didn't have any so I opted for a vegan neopolitan flavored donut with a vanilla bean latte. The coffee was better than the donut. It was actual pretty good. Me and my friend had a really disappointing experience at The Salty Donut located on West Paces Ferry. This was actually our first time visiting after it came highly recommended by a friend, which made the experience even more disappointing. My friend and I stopped in for coffee and donuts, and we both ordered salted caramel lattes--hers included a pistachio drizzle. Our cashier, Gabriella, took our order. Unfortunately, her drink was not good at all. My friend politely went back to the counter and simply let the barista know it didn't taste right. Instead of offering a solution, the barista, Reese, immediately became defensive. We asked if the drink could just be remade as a regular salted caramel latte (like mine), and she refused, saying it was "too expensive" to remake. She then pulled out a large container of pistachio mix and tried to justify the drink rather than addressing the issue. To make things worse, she told us, "This isn't Chick-fil-A--you can't just ask for something to be remade." What really stood out was the inconsistency. Right after this interaction, another customer came in, didn't like their drink, and Reese offered to remake it without hesitation--blaming it on a misunderstanding. When we pointed out the inconsistency, Reese became even more rude and dismissive. It wasn't just about the drink--it was the lack of basic customer service and how we were treated compared to others. We were polite the entire time and simply expected a reasonable resolution for something we paid for. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression, and we won't be returning. read more

What a great little donut shop! They do have some parking around back and I was there on a weekend, so access wasn't super challenging. During the work week, might be trickier. Friendly staff and a fine selection of donuts. I ordered a half dozen plus some donut holes, and coffees to go. Only issue was the preparation of that order took longer than one might expect given it wasn't very crowded but I appreciate the individual care and attention to my order. I chose a variety of donuts and we enjoyed sampling them all. Don't pass over the brown butter and salt too quickly. Sounds simple but really delivers. I stopped by The Salty Donut in Buckhead and ended up being so pleasantly surprised. I got the Pop-Tart and honestly, I don't even like Pop-Tarts because they're usually way too sweet. But this one? SO fresh and perfectly balanced. Not too sweet at all. easily my favorite item there. I also grabbed a classic glazed (can never go wrong there), a maple cinnamon twist, and one of their seasonal pumpkin roll donut, which turned out to be my second favorite. The pumpkin flavor was cozy and not overpowering perfect for fall. Overall, everything tasted super fresh, and you can tell they put a lot of care into their flavors and textures. I stopped by tonight to grab a couple donuts and I was not disappointed :) I came around 8pm so they were out of a good bit of things but that's to be expected since it was toward the end of the day. I need to stop by in the morning sometime! The workers were very friendly and fun. The vibes were good. They seemed happy to be there. Maybe I should put in a job application! Lol I got the traditional glazed and the vegan PB&J. I really liked both of them. I feel like the PB&J could benefit from a stronger jelly flavor but it was still really good. The creamy peanut butter on the inside was great. The prices here are really good in my opinion! Two super large specialty donuts in the heart of Buckhead for around $10? That's a good deal to me. Parking might be a challenge sometimes but there is free parking around if you look for it (mostly parallel parking spots). After my initial experience, I was hesitant on coming back here, but I reached out to customer service and was able to try this place again. I am very happy with my order which was a brown butter salted doughnut and a salted caramel latte with oat milk I was able to get the coffee iced with no eyes which is not very common in a coffee place because they either give you less coffee or the coffee becomes diluted with ice. I was able to taste the donut and I absolutely love it and will be coming back for more. I ordered for pick up and the staff were very quick and friendly. I'm glad I gave this place. Another chance. My only issue was ordering on the app and it glitched and did not give me the option to do Apple Pay and when I was ready to check out, it gave me the option again other than that I will definitely be coming back to The Salty Donut when I want a treat on the way to work. As someone who has been to many of the iconic donut shops including Voodoo Donuts in Portland, Sidecar Donuts in LA, Randy's Donuts in LA, and Parlor Doughnuts in Oceanside, I was blown away by these donuts. I am normally a cake donut girl but the yeast donuts here are made from a light, fluffy brioche dough. I ordered the strawberry shortcake and the candied pistachio and white chocolate donut. I was recommended to visit The Salty since I'm a lover of sweets. I liked the ambience and the vibe of The Salty--nice cafe feel to meetup with a friend or catchup with work. Now onto the donuts, I paid $15 for 3 donuts so I was expecting them to be good, however, 2 out of the 3 were a complete miss. The cherry pop tart was too crumbly and falling apart with minimal cherry flavor. The salty brown butter donut was very thick and dense with a hard coated layer of icing. Lots of calories with minimal taste. The best one was the traditional glazed. Nice fluffy center and still lots of icing but worth it. I would only get the traditional glazed again in the future and not experiment with the rest. read more

I absolutely LOVE these donuts! I can appreciate donuts from different donut shops. There are 3 other donut shops I've sampled in the past few weeks. They all tasted different, which I apppreciate. These are my go-to faves at The Salty. The Cafe con Leche with the delicious coffee filling... (just scrumptious!) and the Brown Butter & Salt donut made me close my eyes and just sigh in contentment. The salt granules on top of the brown butter donut just sends the deliciousness to the next level! Now, I will say though, the Brown Butter & Salt donut is a cake donut so it tastes awesome with coffee. The Cafe con Leche donut can be eaten on its own. I prefer all my donuts with coffee though. I did try the Maple & Cinnamon Twist (not pictured); however, that one was a bit too much to handle for me. It was too thick for me. (It's brioche bread, so understandable...) It needed a bit more moisture i.e. icing for me because it's just such a thick rope of donut. As far as the store itself in Buckhead, I've only gone to pick up orders; however, it's very nice. It was clean when I've visited. The staff is attentive. It has a very nice and inviting patio area. One part is covered, which is really nice. Plus, it's right next to Whole Foods. (Another favorite place of mine. ) Lastly, I've also visited the Krog location. That one is a lot smaller. One of the bathrooms is out of order. (I visited twice in the last 3 weeks. Hopefully, it's fixed now.) When I visited, the staff wasn't super inviting. Plus, there was a pesky fly that flew right into the donut display. I told the guy who was about to take my order so hopefully he got it after I left. (Off topic, but I think it'd be a good idea for The Salty to just go ahead and enclose their donut cases. I know it'd be one more thing to have to open the case to fill orders, but it'd be a lot more sanitary. I mean flies distribute their microscopic germs every time they land on something so...just saying.) Overall though, I really do love The Salty Donut and would definitely recommend it. I recently decided to give The Salty the chance to redeem themselves by ordering a few different donuts for the office. Now this go round I was throughly impressed with my selections which were the glazed, gingerbread French toast, chocolate cake, candied white chocolate pistachio, cinnamon crumble, butterscotch pie(GF) and the brown butter n' salt . I almost forgot my favorite of them all the strawberry shortcake 24 hr brioche filled with layers of strawberry jam, lemon cake & vanilla mousse, fresh strawberry glaze, topped with chunks of mascarpone whipped cream & lemon cake. The Salty are more on the expensive side. I ordered 19 donuts the cost was around $97. I definitely recommend If you like cake donuts. read more

I still wanted to try this place after seeing the amazing reviews. Let's start with the location: The actual business sits right at the corner of Peachtree and West Paces Ferry in Buckhead...next door to Velvet Taco. Parking behind the restaurant is VERY limited. If you can snag a spot, great. I've heard some people say you can get away with parking in the Whole Foods lot, but be aware of booting/towing. It's Atlanta, so park at your own risk lol. I'm sure if you're just running in to grab and go, it won't be a problem. Interior Decor: I absolutely loooove the interior design of the shop. It gives you a luxe cafe vibe. Beautiful hues of dark blue and gold are laced throughout. You are immediately greeted with an array of gorgeous donuts on display behind the glass. While the store itself is pretty small, there is a decent amount of seating outside. Food and Coffee: I wanted to try a donut that wasn't on their everyday menu. One of the employees recommended I try the Ube donut. This purple-hued beauty looked so perfect that I didn't want to eat it. It was covered in a vegan coconut frosting, and had a sweet pineapple filling. While the donut was nice, it was a little too sweet and dense for me. I typically prefer the traditional fried donut that is light and airy with simple toppings. The Ube donut was almost like a dense bagel texture. I did also order one of their specialty lattes and oh my gosh! It was delicious! Can't remember the name, just know that the coffee drinks are divine. I have been wanting to visit The Salty since they opened, and I finally did last weekend! There was a line out the door, but it went pretty fast. The decor is really cute. I loved the penny tile floors and the black counters. I ordered the chocolate cake donut, brown butter & salt donut, and the brown sugar pop tart. All were delicious, but my favorite was the chocolate cake one. It was amazing! They also have coffee drinks and some savory items. I came here Sunday afternoon, on a recommendation from multiple Atlanta TikTokers. I got the cinnamon cereal milk latte with almond milk and it was heavenly. I paired that with a banana cream pie donut which I also enjoyed. The store is beautifully designed, with a bar style seating area indoors, and patio seating outdoors. There is also one group nook in the back indoors. It's in walking distance to a Whole Foods and around the corner from Buckhead Theatre so great location! Finally, the staff were all very friendly. Most patrons are coming here for the first time since they are new to Atlanta & the guy at the cashier is patient with giving recommendations. The barista also was kind to remake my drink with the correct milk. I happened to go when the architect firm's freelance photographer was shooting photos so it was cool to meet him.
