Anything decent is up priced, some stuff priced over eBay , you suppose to be a charity not a for profit business

They are absolutely horrible from my return back to living in South Carolina, which has been well over a year. They will not return calls. I don't know what they do down there, but if you need rent or Some kind of utility assistance. You're out of luck with this place. All they do is have the perpetual voicemail. Going and you do not get any return phone calls. I don't understand what's wrong with agencies like this. They're there to help the community, but then they don't do their job like they should. First of all, their prices are OUTRAGOUS. 24.99 for a used coat? It was not a designer coat or anything, but a mid-priced coat like you would find at Burlington or something. The next one I checked was 21.99. ALL COATS were priced "specially" on white tags, not priced like the coat prices listed. And about 1/3 or the inventory was marked high. I can understand when you are selling Vuitton, Hermes, Coach....but really? And, if you get one of the few vouchers they offer for those who are impoverished, it is for $20. Now, how will that help much? The former manager, Mercedes, priced a very limited number of things higher, and they were high-end designer things. BUT, unlike these, they weren't tagged with white tags, but with the colored tags, so they still went half price and then 99 cents on Fridays. You had a chance to get a deal. This is ridiculous. I literally went to Belk and got a better coat for less that weekend at a sale price. NEW. People donate to help out their neighbors and friends in need, not to host a Poshmark site. When the stuff does not sell, they toss it or compress it and send it overseas. That's not what this is about. AND then, there is the manager (assistant) who accuses people of shoplifting all the time. I was in there once when he accused an old man of stealing a sweater - it was in the fall of the year. The old guy said it was his, that he had removed it because he got hot inside the store. HE called the police, and they advised the store to drop it. EVEN IF the guy was stealing a sweater, if an old man needs to steal a second hand sweater from a thrift store aimed at a Christian sense of giving to the needy, do you not think it would be kind to see if he needs anything else? Think about it. What is wrong with you. I don't advocate for Goodwill, but even though some stuff is marked up? By and large, the prices are a helluva lot better. And, for giving to the needy? Found a brand new Owala bottle for $2.99!! Such a find, the staff is friendly. They have alot of great stuff. Was told a tip to get there early on Saturdays because people line up for it. read more

A great place to buy used clothes. I have gone there for 35 years to get all my clothes.

Has anyone been to this store lately . The prices are crazy . They're looking up clothes on eBay and charging eBay and store prices . A Nike jacket and pants $29 , kid tennis shoes $14, regular Nike shirts $9.99. They have racks and racks of clothing that's all the clothes are individual price and some of them have been there for weeks because no one's going to buy them because of the high prices . When you ask the people who pricing why they price the clothing so high they just look at you and says prices are high everywhere . I understand the store needs to make money but pricing everything they put out individually it's crazy . Maybe they need to go to Goodwill and look at that price and structure because people think that Goodwill is high but go to the Salvation Army and you will really see high prices read more

Best little thrift store in all of Columbia! Excellent management keeps the store running smoothly. Everything from clothing of all sorts to household goods and furniture is all neatly organized. I like that the managers are always present and available for any questions that a customer may have. Isaac and Liddie work the check-out line as well as stock the items and they are just the sweetest, most personable people. Mercedes is the manager at this location and is very professional at her job. Not only does she run the store well but she keeps it safe, which is of extreme importance in this day and age. Highly recommend this store as well as the entire family of Salvation Army organizations. They do the best work for our community. And every dollar that you spend goes to people who need it! Went into the Millwood location today and attempted to buy some DVD's and CD's. When I got to the register to pay I was informed that all CD/DVD are 75 cents, unless they are double discs, in which case they are $4.99. ???!!? I even asked the cashier to check with whoever was managing the location at the time, which she did. She was told that it was correct. What kind of sense does that make? It was my understanding that was for series sets, not DVD's that have a second disc of special features. They seem to be constantly changing their policies based on who's running the store. read more

My experience with the Salvation Army on Millwood had not been a pleasant one. I purchased a refrigerator a few years ago and it went out in less than 30 day. I purchased another one a month ago and it stopped workin. They are not willing to work with you after you have spent your hard earned money. I wish people stop donating items that may stop working and when we buy it we loose our money. They don't offer anything except for apology. So please don't buy anything of value from any salvation store. This was a bought lesson hopefully it saves someone else some money. I did purchase a stove that is still working for now however all I will ever remember is they took hard earned money out of my pocket. No credits for future use just nothing. So make good decisions when purchasing anything from the Salvation Army. The manager Leslie Jones called me after I called the home office who was not any help. They referred me back to Ms Jones who had a record that I spoke to her on January 3 but still not able to assist me. I got rid of the refrigerator once she said she couldn't help me she then tells me today she would need the refrigerator back. So please people just put your unused item at the curb this way if someone gets it and it don't work they can't complain about it. read more

Nice people, ask for tag color that's on sale when you arrive. Pretty organized. Small building so clothing is packed tight. Mostly clothing on one half & some furniture pieces with light household items on the other half. Once again, the attendants were so very nice!!!! read more

I was very pleased with the selections. I found an awesome dresser for 59 bucks. I plan to refurbish it into a tv and entertainment center. My only complaint is it came with a mirror I did not want and although I tried to negotiate the price lower they would not. I'll definitely go back regardless. Large selection of furniture and clothing. The staff was friendly too. Also note they will hold pieces for you for 24 hours which is great! They will assist in loading anything in your car or help with any donations you may have! read more
