There are two floors to this shop - today the second floor was wedding themed, which was amazing. There were also formal dresses, jewellery, handbags and suits on display upstairs - anything you might need if you were going to or planning a wedding. It was fun poking through the wedding dresses and seeing right in front of you how much styles have changed throughout the decades! Downstairs there is a "front" that has racks of clothing and some jewellery and in the back, you'll find some homewares and yet even more clothing. Shoes, winter coats, and kids clothes are back there. The prices at Hand in Hand are amazing!! You won't find any almost-full-price goods here. If the item wasn't priced it was $4, and Friday's are student discount days! (Good to know!) We found an amazing hot pink pineapple print dress...definitely not for me, but one of our friends was so excited to be getting it. I got a whole bunch of nice t-shirts, mostly designer brands, for under $3 (quite a few were a dollar or so). Since it's almost summer, now is also the time to get the lowest prices on winter wear. I got two brand name trendy light winter coats for $6 each and they both looked brand new. One of them retails new at well over $150..so I feel I got good value for money. The good: - Pamphlets x 100 in the waiting room. - Posters for local events, services, workshops, etc. all over the place. - A wide array of free/inexpensive services - pap tests, STI testing, birth control (of all imaginable types, including Plan B), abortion counseling and arrangement, pregnancy tests, breast health exams, anonymous HIV/AIDS testing...you name it, they've got it. - A welcoming, respectful, and highly inclusive environment. - Awesome staff: empathetic, respectful, and highly discreet. - Fun events from time to time. Less good: - Wait times can be long. - Appointments may be difficult to obtain, especially if you're looking for something sooner rather than next week. In addition, clinic hours are limited after 4 pm, so chances are you'll have to take a morning/afternoon off to get checked out. Really, though, there's not much to complain about - certainly nothing that's out of the ordinary for a busy medical clinic. Don't be afraid to check HSHC out - you won't regret it.

The clinic provides needed unbiased, science-based information, which is hugely important and sometimes hard to get for some topics like unwanted pregnancies. FYI: The clinic is a not-for-profit, so if you care about everyone being able to access sexual health services (e.g. paps, STI checks, pregnancy checks, birth control, IUD insertions, etc.), you can donate any amount to a collection box they have and they also write receipts for larger amounts.

Okay, I probably will, but I don't want the Value Village fate of sky rocketing prices to be the new norm in used clothes shopping. I found a couple of pieces I so desired, but wasn't willing to cough up half a tenner for a simple shirt - call me cheap, but that's where I'm standing. The book / cassette / VHS area was pretty fun, with carts loaded with random junk and the odd treasure. In the end, no purchases were made, but a fun jaunt was had. I do like this location and endorse it as a reasonable place to shop. Just doesn't expect ample, libidinous deals from the days of yore.

My reason for going to the store was that I had recently purchased a JD riding mower at Home Depot, but was unsure what kind of oil and gas it uses. The staff at the JD store were kind enough to bring the manual for my specific make and model up on their computer screen and then set me up with exactly what I needed. Really it made me feel kind of guilty/regretful for not purchasing it from them, but that's due to both ignorance on my part (didn't even know this store existed before today) and also that they weren't all that price competitive. I do think in retrospect that the higher prices at the JD store would have been worth it, just because of their expertise in the brand.
