I had a somewhat vague explanation of the style and inspiration and Allie whips out the most perfect dress. Of course, I tried a few others but the first one she nabbed for me to try was the winner! Allie went above and beyond to take photos so that I could include my older brother who was unable to attend. If you are looking for another style, the staff don't hestiate on going to their other locations to grab a dress for you to try on. The ballroom is large and you don't get overwhelmed since the dresses are all so well organized. The selection is massive with all colors, styles, and aesthetics accounted for. If you are in Philadelphia or the suburbs of Philadelphia, honestly this is the only bridal salon you need to visit! I absolutely loved my experience here for getting my wedding dress and wholeheartedly recommend.

Where to start... (worth the read from someone who purchased their dress at this awful place)…read more My first visit to L&H was fabulous with Tara - she helped me find my dress, and made the entire process enjoyable (she knew exactly what I wanted after asking all the right questions). However, the great experience stopped there. I also ordered my bridesmaid dresses through L&H, but when they came in, they were a completely different color. The manager assured me that they would work with the manufacturer to have them reshipped quickly, with a deadline of a month before my wedding (3 of my bridesmaids lived out of town)... that did not happen, and I had to be the one to call continuously asking where they were, until they finally came in just 3 weeks from my wedding (oh, and they still weren't the correct color, but at this point, there was nothing I could do). This is where it all went downhill. I had the WORST experience having my dress fitted. Lucy, the seamstress (who I later figured out was the OWNER), was rude every time I went in there, made my dress fit worse than it originally fit, and made awful body shaming comments to me and 3 of my bridesmaids). Needless to say, I couldn't complain to the owner... My first fitting: Lucy came in for a solid 3 minutes. I asked her to make the bra area smaller to fit my small chest, and she told me to wear cutlets... she then pinned me where I asked her to take it out around my stomach, and bring up the straps somewhat. Then left. I was in and out in 10 minutes. My second fitting: I brought my two bridesmaids thinking their dresses would be in, as it was past the date they promised.. they were not in. My dress fit WORSE than when it first came in. She had not taken anything out of the waist and took the straps in so much that I could barely fit them over my shoulders. I expressed my concern and then sent a detailed email showing how the dress fit at my first fitting, to then, so that she could fix it properly. I was now less than a month out from my wedding and very distraught, but figured I would give them another shot. My third fitting (I requested this one because they wanted me to come back just for a final fitting a week before the wedding, but I did not trust that it would actually fit). At this point, I tried on my dress and noticed where it had been taken out- it was bumpy (I had light beading), so I asked if I could talk to Lucy... in which she came in and said "what's wrong now?". To the BRIDE. I asked her if she had finished taking out my dress, or if she still had to do so, to which she responded "it is done, that is the best I could do", and I explained and showed her that it did not lay flat, that it looked bad, and you could tell it had been taken out. She said again "that is the best I could do, it will lay flatter after it is pressed", turned around, and walked out. I was appalled, but at this point did not want her touching my dress again. I was too scared to complain to anyone or ask her to fix it because I was honestly worried she would do something to mess it up further. I asked around and found another seamstress who could help if I came back in and it still looked bad. Lucy (the owner) also asked my bridesmaid "what she was going to do with what little boobs she had" when she asked to have it adjusted (again, basically telling her to wear a bra), and made my other bridesmaid cry after asking her "what she planned on doing with all her fat" and told her to wear Spanx, when she was 2 months postpartum. Lucy also tailored two of the bridesmaid dresses and made them fit worse than when they originally tried them on (there is a theme here). The shop would not refund them the money. RUN from this place. They made an experience that was supposed to be wonderful, absolutely dreadful.

And after we had our wedding, our guest did nothing but rave about how fun, unique and perfect the reception was. But just having a reception at RTM is not what I'd recommend it. It was so much more. It was having the incredible variety of foods - we had cheesesteaks, DiNic's roast pork, Chinese food, a salad bar, poutine and corn dogs, grilled cheese from Meltkraft, the list goes on. It was having a historic and unique setting that was transformed into a beautiful evening even with string lights, candles, table clothes, decorations and provided an ambiance it'd be impossible to replicate anywhere else. It was the servers who attended to our guests every need, kept the party going, the room clean and the people happy. It was every little touch that the planning team executed perfectly for us, that all happened without us realizing it, without any reminders or questions. The planning team at All About Events were the true heroes of the night - and in fact, the whole planning process. We met with them about 15 months before our wedding, and Christina, Stevie and Liam made sure that everything was easy, fun and exciting. Christina's emails to us were always clear and thorough, addressing every little question I had asked, and pointing out tiny things I never would have thought of. Stevie's communication with our vendors was so appreciated, including our Mummers and DJ! And every time we met with them, the meetings were exciting, joyful. Their personalities and kindness and caring for us and our events just SHONE. We could not recommend RTM and AAE more. They are a truly wonderful team, and a gem in the Philadelphia wedding scene. I hope that we get to go to another event at the market soon, and we will certainly keep them in mind for our 10th anniversary vow renewal!!!!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Sample Rack -- I wouldn't change a thing! I was shopping only about a month and a half before my wedding date and Carlene and Amelia were completely accommodating of my budget and timeline. They were so attentive and patient (I think I must have tried on 8 different dresses), and they helped to make the entire experience fun and stress-free (for me and the two friends I brought!). Their one-on-one attention was above and beyond anything I experienced in any other bridal salons. I left with a beautiful Jim Hjelm dress for a very reasonable price (their prices are all unbeatable), and they gave me a referral to a great seamstress to get the alterations done in time. I couldn't be happier with The Sample Rack, and I've recommended them to all of my friends in the Philadelphia area for when they need a wedding gown. Using Mari Mi Bridal is the single biggest regret I have with my wedding. For those who don't want…read moreto read a long form essay on the million ways they screwed me over, the summary is that we purchased a dress, including a $200 rush fee for the dress to be ready in June and a $200 fee for the dress to be lined. The dress came unlined approximately 6 weeks later than promised, and Mari Mi repeatedly never returned my calls. They promised in writing to reimburse me for the cost of putting the lining in (I was charged $400 from my seamstress for just the lining issue), but as of this posting they have not despite requests to do so. I went dress shopping in March for my September wedding, and purchased a ~$3500 dress with $200 rush fee and $200 lining fee. I was told the dress would be ready in mid June ( I don't recall the exact date). Mari Mi reached out once to confirm which panels I wanted lined. We agreed to line several panels in the bodice and hips, and they shared a photo of what exactly would be lined. On July 1st, I had not heard about my dress pickup so I called Mari Mi. I was told someone would call me back. No one did, so I called the next day. I was told someone would call me back in 30 minutes. No one did. I called a 3rd day in a row. At that time I was told the dress was late, still hadn't shipped, and I should make a pickup appt for the end of July. They could not tell me why the dress was late, nor did they offer to refund the $200 rush fee. I made a pickup appt for July 30th. Did they call me when my dress actually came in? Of course not. On July 30th I arrived to pick up my dress, and the dress was unlined in ~6 of the 8 panels we agreed to (depending on how you count the panels). I brought this up to the sales associate, who said she would reach out to her boss. It was honestly very upsetting as I already had a horrible experience with them, and when they finally delivered the dress it was so far from what we had agreed upon and I had very limited time to fix it. The dress has several see-through mesh areas including deep in the hips, and I would feel very exposed if I was getting married in it unlined. Genuinely, I would not be able to wear underwear as the side straps would be visible with the cutouts. At this point I went to their website and submitted a complaint. The owner offered to "pay" for the lining in alterations (though we had already paid for the lining when buying the dress.) The next day I went to my alterations appointment with my seamstress and explained the situation. They needed fabric from the dressmaker to line the bodice in the areas Mari Mi had failed to line, so they called Mari Mi. I could not hear the exact conversation, but the account from my seamstress was that Mari Mi only offered to line the bodice in the fabric from the skirt, which was simpler fabric that did not match the bodice as the bodice had a lace layer. My rockstar seamstress was luckily able to procure the correct bodice fabric on their own. My seamstress charged $400 for the lining to be put in after the fact as they had to buy fabric+shipping+labor, and I overheard that Mari Mi were being super rude to them about the cost. It was actually originally $500, but my seamstress gave a discount as a courtesy to Mari Mi. Again I had paid $200 to line the dress originally and Mari Mi did not check it when it arrived and handed me an unlined dress. It's not surprising to me that it would cost more to put in during alterations than when the dress was being made. Ultimately, if you want a bridal shop that will return your calls and deliver the dress you agreed to in the timeline you agreed to, consider going anywhere else. And again, as of this posting Mari Mi owes me $400 for lining (and arguably $200 for the rush fee) that they have not paid and instead have ignored my emails requesting to be reimbursed as they promised in writing to do.

When I checked in and filled out the bridal questionnaire, I forgot to tell her what designer I was most interested in. As we were browsing the dresses, I stopped her to let her know and she said she had already pulled a TON of dresses from that designer! It made me feel comfortable and confident that she knew the exact vibe I wanted to go for. Dresses in many different price ranges, and they are so respectful of your budget. While trying on dresses, she was extremely knowledgable about adjustments that were available for each gown (linings, sleeves, bustles, etc.). Different from many other bridal shops in Philly, my crew and I were able to browse the racks ourselves, and pick a few dresses to try on in addition to the ones Alicia pulled for me. The appointment was 90 minutes, so I really felt like I could take my time, have fun, and see which gown really spoke to me! When I got overwhelmed, Alicia was so helpful and made sure we slowed down - she even offered me chocolate and some words of encouragement! She really was the best, and I'm so happy I ended up getting my dress here. Would ABSOLUTELY recommend to all brides!

Madison was very nice and worked with me to find the perfect dress. She defiantly had a nice personal touch, even saying that she would come with me to make sure that the dress was altered perfectly. She said that the dress would come in the first week of June (a little over a month before the wedding). It would be little close, but not bad, keeping in mind that the dress would also need to be tailored. We also ordered to flower girl dresses from them because, they complemented my dress so well. A few months go by and the flower girls dresses were supposed to be delivered. Both myself and my sister-in-law (mother of my flower girls) called as well as stopped by to see when the dresses would be in. Every time, the date we were told, would always be moved back. This didn't make me feel good about my dress, because we were cutting it close to begin with. In the end the dresses came in about three weeks late. Of course, the first week of June came and went. Calls were made and estimates of shipping dates were given, but it kept being moved back, again. It wasn't until seventeen days before the wedding, when I called, that I was told that my dress had been in for days. Madison's assistant told me that my sister-in-law must have missed the message she left. That is impossible, she was more excited about the dress than I was, but I did double check with her (no phone call or message was ever left). I made an appointment, fifteen days left, to see how the dress fit. The personal touch from Madison, that I got when I first tried on my dress, was gone. Madison popped in long enough to see how the dress looked. I made an appointment, with her assistant, to go to the tailor. I would meet her at the store ten minutes ahead of time. She would not only drive me there, but she would also carry the dress for me. I came back, ten days before the wedding, expecting Madison's assistant to be ready to take me to the appointment. I saw her in the other room busy with a bride (I already knew what was coming). Madison told me that her assistant couldn't take me and that she was in the middle of doing inventor. My sister-in-law was already there getting the flower girl dresses altered (later she said I looked confused and sad when I walked in). We got the dresses figured out, apparently Madison didn't tell her how close the wedding was, but she said she could get it done. Two day before the wedding, I got my dress. The alter was great, but the bustle seemed I little confusing....ok...really confusing. Thirteen white ties made of sheer fabric that she couldn't find during her bustle tying lesson. On the day of the wedding I had three, very patient and loving friends, up my dress for a half hour trying to figure out the bustle. They couldn't find all the little ties or maybe some of them fell off (the tailor said they were delicate). It took the event coordinator, with a handful of pins, to finally get me bustled. I loved my dress, but the games they played with me I could never recommend this business to an blushing bride-to-be.

My other bridal shoppe experiences don't hold a candle to how comfortable and welcomed I felt on both of my visits to Yes to the Dress. So wonderful, in fact, that I swore I was going to buy a dress through them because I believe they DESERVE the business. It's posh, modern, clean. The staff is knowledgeable, articulate and caring. They could have made me feel amazing in almost any dress. Unbelievably, I ended up closing the deal on a 100% custom designed, one-of-a-kind gown after attending the Leanne Marshall trunk show & the savings were significant. It was a win for the shoppe, a win for Leanne, and a major win for me. The excitement level was through the shop roof!! I lost count of the hugs being thrown around. My mom is going back for her gown, my friend's mom is going to visit for hers. For better or worse, I too read a lot of boutique reviews when I was on my search. Not only is she remarkably skilled, she is also kind, generous, funny and clear about what is possible and what isn't. She will give it to you straight, but in a respectful and loving way. She is a master at giving her professional opinion in a way that is helpful, but not at all pushy, and managing the personalities in the room in order to center your voice and opinion. I went in to see Courtney for the first time in March 2020, just a few days before the world shut down and we all went into lockdown. My dress didn't need much -- a hemming and replacing of the buttons and button loops in the back of my dress. Courtney was great at communicating with me as my wedding was postponed from June 2020 to June 2021. When I went in to see her a year later, our world had changed and so had I. When I tried on my dress, I no longer felt comfortable or confident in my dress and so I embarked on a journey to find a new dress, literally THREE WEEKS before my wedding. Courtney was so kind and encouraging as I found a dress that fit me properly and made me happy while wearing it. She managed to accommodate my new dress fitting and alterations in TWO WEEKS and didn't even charge me a rush pricing. Because of her, I was able to wear a wedding dress that made me feel confident and beautiful. Then after my wedding, she fixed a snag in the neckline of my dress, ON THE HOUSE. I am so utterly thankful to have been able to work with Courtney. I honestly don't know what I would have done if I didn't have such an incredible seamstress on my side for my wedding. She is an incredible small business owner who knows what she is doing and is in demand because of it. Her labor is worth every damn cent and I wholeheartedly recommend her and her team. I just purchased a pair of khaki pants yesterday from a local store in another part of the city and after I tried them on again at home, I felt the pants length was just a little bit too long. I have to wear them at a new seasonal job. So I looked here on Yelp to search for the best tailors in town. And guess what business came up on the list? The Sciolis! WIthout knowing their background and expertise beforehand, my intuition took over. Without even looking anywhere else, I just said to myself I'm going here. After being fortunate to find a good parking space right across the street because it is far from easy to park on Passyunk Avenue, I walked in to a welcoming store by Pasquale and Anna. Once I told them them what I needed to have done, I tried on the pants, Anna took some measurements and within 2 hours, Pasquale completed the work! After Anna called me to tell me the pants were ready and I returned to pick it up, I could not be happier. I did not even need to try on my pants again. I knew based on his experience, he did them right. That is how much I trusted him. This is not just a highly reputable business and have done work for many across the city including mayor Jim Kenney, but those in public life have undoubtedly come to appreciate Pasquale and Anna for what they do! They are so friendly, so welcoming, so down to earth, so passionate to provide their service and truly make their customers feel like they are family. I cannot recommend them enough. The inside of this store is a little chaotic, with not much room to navigate. When I finally made my selection someone came to cut my fabric and get me checked out. It was nice being able to pull things out and be left alone with my own indecisive nonsense but I could see others having issues with that.
