Burger w/ Xtra Special Pickles & a side of fries BEST burger around, prove me wrong...
    Nick S.

Everything, and I mean everything is worth your time! From perfectly smoked BBQ to the BEST burger around they know how to treat their meat. Tucked away in the old Sherwood Bowling Alley lot at N. Hills & Country Club makes it super convenient and easy to get to. You're always greeted with a smile and the service is second to none. Get you some of the special pickles, you'll be happy you did.

    Crawfish and shrimp boil

Just pulled into town and wanted some BBQ and we found this food truck. Other reviews were great so we decided to go. We received a sample of their gumbo and it was delicious. They were out of all meats except a crawfish and shrimp boil with sausage, potatoes, corn and hamburgers. The coup my e in front of us said they had the best burgers around so my hubby had a cheese burger with a side of potato salad and baked beans. I went back and forth with gumbo or boil And decided to go with the boil. I was delicious as were the hamburger, potato salad and baked beans. Portions are huge. The owners and servers were so gracious and apologetic for running out of BBQ said they had been busy since opening at 10 am on Mother's Day. Only reason I didn't give them a 5 star was due to not being able to try their BBQ. If we lived in the area we would go back again.

Pulled pork plate with sides and pickles

Tried their pulled pork plate when we saw the food truck at The Filling Station in NLR. After reading earlier reviews we knew we wanted to try something with the pickles! Service was great and they were very kind, even when a mad rush of orders were coming in. Looking forward to trying the brisket next time, but the pork was delicious.

2 meat plate. Ribs, brisket, mac and cheese, and baked beans. Try the pickles, honey jalapeño deliciousness.

Fantastic start! They have plenty of options so I started with my favorites. The ribs had great seasoning and medium chew on the meat. Ordered the brisket extra wet (with fat to make sure it was juicy) and it was tender with plenty of flavor in the crust. The mac&cheese was so so, was told it didn't get enough time on the smoker so I will update when I try again. The beans had a touch of sweet and meat mixed in making them very tasty. The shocker were the pickles, not what I expected at all. Homemade honey jalapeño pickles, even good by themselves. And then the cherry on top was the smoked cherry cobbler, not too sweet, crunch from sugar crystals, and near perfect moisture level throughout. A welcome addition to our food options and several picnic tables with umbrellas!

We eat here all the time and love it! The portions are huge, the sauce is great, and the meat is juicy. You won't go hungry eating here!

As someone who can't resist smoked meat, I took the bait. Service was quick right out of the gate. I was greeted immediately upon driving up, which I appreciated. That said, the cashier came off a bit impatient, especially when I asked to take a look at the menu as a first-timer. Not rude enough to make a scene, but definitely not welcoming either. I started with the fries: they came out hot and fresh, which is always a win. Unfortunately, that's about where the praise ends. They were completely underseasoned? no salt, no character, just... potatoes. Edible, but forgettable. I'd skip them next time and go for chips instead. Hoping the main event would redeem things, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. This is where things really fell apart. The pork lacked any flavor and, more concerning, was served cold. Not "cooled off" actually cold. Oddly enough, the coleslaw seemed warmer than the meat. For a BBQ spot, that's a tough miss. Overall, I'd place Mick's BBQ in the bottom tier of barbecue I've had. It's a place with potential fast service and a decent first impression, but the food just didn't deliver where it matters most.

The shrimp and grits definitely lived up to its hype! I ordered the half order of shrimp and grits, the grits were perfectly made and also came with six of the most juiciest shrimps. The only thing that I would change about this dish is to either make it slightly cheaper, because it was pretty pricey for the small amount of food that you get, or there should be a little bit more grits. Other than that, the meal was great. The waitress that I had was very attentive and professional, she helped me with everything that I needed and was timely when it came to placing the order and serving food. The restaurant is in an easily located place with complimentary parking right across the street.

Funny, but right next door is a place that bills itself as great Cajun/Creole food, but the menu here easily showed itself as a great, if not better, option. We just stopped in for drinks, which they have an abundance of specialty cocktails that appear to change frequently on the blackboard, and really enjoyed them. So we wound up chatting with the friendly barkeep about the menu. He encouraged us to try the crab dip, and oh my, we are so glad he did! It is a very rich appetizer, but absolutely one of the best we've ever had. We are sorry that we had other commitments the evening we swung by, because as we saw other diners meals arriving, we knew we were missing something special. Next time for sure!!!
