This is for the Geyer Springs location. I don't see it listed on yelp... But it's right north of I 30 in Geyer Springs. On the north east side. I used to frequent here... Years ago it burned down. They have rebuilt and the food is just as good as it always was. It's actually nicer inside now... I didn't see Ms. Von.... but she still must be involved... I think her granddaughters are sitting behind the counter now. I doubt Mr. Russel is still back there cooking... But whoever is doing it is doing a nice job. The sauce is just as incredible as I remember. This is great barbecue. The sauce is tangy and thin... But it's special. If you're in Little rock... Come to this location. While here attending Nationals Leadership conference, we have the great pleasure to meet Mr Sims BBQ himself. He is such a pleasant man, friendly and very hospitable. The service was excellent and his staff were very pleasant. He even offered to open his dining area to our group but we were only picking up our food to eat after evening worship!! If you ate ever near by, you must, you have to make your way to taste this delicious BBQ. Slick this is a popular mom/pop hole in the wall type spot. Customer service is as to be expected but good nonetheless. Atmosphere and design gives nothing less than black love, excellence and community & I love that. The food was BUSSIN!!! Bbq baked beans, green beans and the chopped pork sandwich. I've heard about Sim's before, but never tried it until I was driving down broadway and seen their new location. I had about 15 minutes before I had to get a haircut at D'kuts barbershop. The lady at the counter was super nice and helped me out ordering. The food came out in sub 2 minutes. I ate in my car, but the inside was clean, well taken care of, and felt like a great place to go for a date. I got the 2 meat plate with beef, ribs collard greens, and potato salad. They threw in a cornbread too which def hit the spot after the bbq. The ribs were definitely the star of the show for me. It was tender, juicy and sweet. The collard greens and potato salad were good sides that did not disappoint. They didn't skimp out on nothing, and for under $20 a plate, it was way better than Joe's in KC (frauds!). I'm from Houston and finding good bbq is rare in Little Rock. The beef was sliced thin, which I'm not a fan of, but the bbq sauce made up for it!! I don't know what's happening to Sims but the last couple of times, they've gotten my order wrong! Every time I order cornbread, I get sandwich bread. One visit, I ordered chopped beef and got a bunch of fatty ribs! My greens also had a 3 inch long stick in them! Get it together guys! read more

It smelled good, I pulled up for this here called BBQ.....yes they have signs on every door that says must wear a mask . I didn't have one on me it's been a while, so I walked out cause they asked for my mask. I parked on the side of the building you would call it. It's where the BBQ pit room is at. I'm not sure how they managed to have sides that steal the show, but Sim's is the whole package. I got the chopped beef - finely chopped with some crispy bits. And while the meat could not have been any more satisfying, the greens and beans were even more out of this world. The most perfect blend of seasoning salt, meat, and a hint of vinegar. Absolute perfection. No dining in during Covid times; but the order at the front was a pleasant experience. And the cashiers were friendly and helpful. I asked one of the workers here at the hotel where I can find some barbecue. Before I can even put the dot on my sentence he said "Sims barbecue about 3 miles away". I didn't give it much thought I just went with his suggestion and boy the local was right!! It's the old-school southern vibe in here that's simply offer's good barbecue. Prices are decent and competitive from what I read around here. The two young ladies at the front desk a very pleasant and professional. But the food tho..the SLICED BEEF. Gtfoh!! That was delish! I liked the thin vinegary sauce that wasn't too much. It wasn't too thick it wasn't too thin it wasn't too tangy it wasn't too over powering it anyway. I have loved this place for over 20 years! I now live in Seattle but it's my 1st stop when I'm in town! The sauce alone is addictive! Okay, this is the place for BBQ. Now don't be put off by the bars on the windows or the fact that you cannot see through the windows from the outside. This is a locals only place that make great barbecue. Part 2--I recently went back to Sim's and had the rib tips. This is now my "go to" dish when in town. Nom nom nom! What a delicious taste of the Arkansas BBQ scene! Don't let the unassuming and unattractive exterior fool you - inside we were greeted by large smiles and a welcome! We opted to sit down for dinner, but by the looks of it - there are a TON of people who get take out from Sim's too! My fiance and I each got the dinner specials - meat plus 2 sides dishes. He got the ribs + beans + cole slaw and I went for the pulled pork + greens + potato salad (that way, we got to try all 4 sides). Oh, and did I mention it also comes with corn bread or white bread... all for $9.90 each? Score! The meat was flavorful and moist. The sauce (which is made in-house and available for purchase!) had just the tiniest amount of kick to it which was perfect. It seemed more tomato based (which was nice bc I was anticipating vinegar-based which isn't my favorite). The beans were SO delish - my favorite side! I also love the creamy cole slaw too. We were sat and fed very quickly - all with a huge smile and some genuine southern comfort from the lady at the front desk (who was also very patient with us Northerners! :) Best part, too? You can get a beer - in sizes up to 22oz all for less than $4-$5. I'd say it's quite the hidden gem and worth the detour! read more

With decent reviews (who puts a 1 star because they didn't have dine in due to COVID?!?!?), we stopped in. you know you chose well when the place is loaded at 2pm with people waiting for their food. Don't expect a quick pick up from ordering. Friendly staff, but takes time to get all the orders from in person and pick up. We had ribs, chopped beef (already sold out of sliced beef by 2pm), and sausage. All were excellent. The BBQ beans are on the sweeter side, which we love but you may not. Mustard potato Salad was perfect. My husband said the greens were the best he'd ever had in all his time eating greens in small towns in TX. Best Bbq I've been to in Little Rock area. The ribs are smoked to perfection with a deep smoke taste and fall off the bone texture. Hot bbq sauce is to-die for as well. The bisket is leaner than usual, but sliced thin enough that it works well. Everything on my father's plate and my own was spectacular, and even though there was a mountain of food, it was all eaten. 2 people will run you about 30 bucks for dinner, which is pretty good given the amount of food and quality. There is also something to be said about the service as well. It was true southern hospotality from the waitress that made the experience all thr better. Succulent pork and beef washed down with ice cold beer. The homemade secrete sauce has been a southern tradition in this park of Arkansas since 1937. The smoked fat will melt in your mouth and bring tears to your eyes. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to feed their BBQ'ed hearts desire. The hospitality here alone, deserves five stars. Great staff paired with excellent food earns many repeat customers for nearly a century. When asking several locals about good BBQ in the area, they all raved about this place as if Sim was their favorite Uncle. When I first moved to Little Rock I was excited that there was a barbecue place 2 blocks from my house. So I went there for ribs. There is a prominent sign declaring them the best barbecue in Little Rock. This wasn't the case. They weren't terrible but they weren't the best in town. Nowhere close. So I didn't go back for several years. Recently, I was hungry and trying to find something for dinner on a Saturday night so I decided to give them another try. The menu is pretty typical barbecue fare. Ribs, chopped pork, sliced beef, sausage, etc. I ordered a chopped pork sandwich. With tax, the sandwich was over $8. That seems a bit steep considering it doesn't come with sides. Just a sandwich. I would expect an overpriced sandwich a mile away at the Rivermarket but this is on the corner of Roosevelt and Broadway. It's a pretty run down low-rent district. The restaurant decor reflects the neighborhood: not well-decorated, dated, not very clean. The sandwich arrived looking really disappointing. It was a pile of chopped pork swimming in a very sweet sauce, sandwiched between two disgustingly soggy pieces of cheap thin white bread. If the pork was on a proper bun (and I don't mean a cheap soggy white hamburger bun but something with a little body to it) it would be ok, but just ok. But instead, what was put in front of me was awful. There is no way to eat this as a sandwich because the bread if mush before it gets to you. Good bread sopping up sauce tastes yummy. Soggy white bread.... not so much. I scraped off most of the mush that once was bread and ate about half the meat with a fork. It was edible but I have had much better barbecue in Little Rock. I have had better barbecue in that neighborhood. It's safe to say that I will not return to Sim's. There is no way that I will pay $8 for a pile of mushy white bread and too sweet barbecue ever again. It's a shame because there are 2 decent bakeries close by where Sims could buy local buns to make their sandwiches a thousand times better. read more

Gotta love it. I asked the locals what's what in local bbq and they all said Sim's. Went there a bit late and ordered the combo, 2 meats and 2 sides. Of course, had to have the ribs and the hostess recommended the links. Then I chose the baked beans and potato salad. The 2 girls working there were as friendly as can be. The main one was so cute with such a cute smile that I couldn't help but just admire her. Of course, they guessed I wasn't local. Guess I will not be doing any undercover work in Little Rock. I was told the sauce here is straight up vinegary and tangy, which is good because that's how I like it. The links were good but the sauce made it absolutely delicious. The ribs though, didn't need any sauce. The slight smoke and char flavor was all you need. The sauce adds to it but not really necessary. Meat was tender and flavorful, as expected from a championship place. The beans were very tasty. You can tell they cooked it nice and slow. The potato salad was normal tasting. I wouldn't call it exceptional but it wasn't bad either. It came with 4 half slices of wonder bread, the way it should be. I dipped the bread in both the beans and the bbq sauce. The staff checked on me and I told them I absolutely loved it. Ate everything and didn't take a sip of my drink because I didn't want to stop eating. The owner came by around closing time and checked on me too. Told him I'm from LA and he gave me a Sim's pen as a souvenir. They closed up and he let me stay inside until my ride came to pick me up so I wouldn't have to stay outside in the empty strip mall. He was such a nice guy. Of course, I ended up eating too much and regretted it. I was so stuffed that I couldn't go back to the hotel and lie down so I took a walk around the area to digest it all. Super friendly people and great food. I will miss it until I come back next time. read more

From the outside, i was a little service to go in. It's in an odd part of town and somewhat of a random location (not to mention there's a locked gate in the outside they use to close up. I went in and was welcomed by very nice and quick service. I got chopped pork, ribs, baked beans, and coleslaw. For $15, it was okay. I wouldn't pay that much again, but the chopped pork and baked beans were very well made! Otherwise, probably won't go back too terribly often. read more
