The shop itself is small and cozy, and Kojak was super friendly and attentive. He also acknowledged me being there and had a friendly chat, which made the whole experience feel even more welcoming for both of us. He really listened to what my partner wanted and delivered exactly the haircut he envisioned. My partner was very happy with the result and already said he'll be going back. Couldn't be prouder for Mark and Kojak to finally get their own place. Been following Mark around for the past five years when he started at Squire and then moved to the original Scotch Pine in Cap Hill. Great guy -- who does great cuts and clean fades -- keeps my cuts tight every 2 or 3 weeks. Only major criticism and I mean major!!! Mark has yet to watch the "Godfather" - What?!? I know?!? Right?!? How does someone this dope, have this missing from his life?!? We need to start a petition or intervention and strap him to a barber chair and make him watch Godfather 1 and 2 (we'll spare him from 3). read more

As a long time client I have a hard time posting this review. After much consideration I feel it's my obligation to put it out there. I have been a customer since the beginning of time. Started with Emily "the owner" then I switched to Brian. Over the years I have had the privilege of sitting in most everyone's chair. Over the last couple years the quality of service and cleanliness has dropped below any moderate standard. I could go on about this and that but I'll cut to the point. In a world of social media I follow most the barbers on Instagram. A couple weeks back I saw a photo come across of one of the barbers cutting a client that wasn't wearing a mask. In that same photo you can see someone that isn't a employee of the scotch pine using a barbers equipment to take care of him self while he isn't wearing a mask. Due to this pandemic I've lost a close loved one so seeing this just makes me ill. I could see the place plummeting vigorously but this is beyond awful. Us customers expect more read more

Kojak is great - he's been cutting my hair for about 2 years now. Always does a good job and is super friendly. It's a relatively pricy spot but it's a different model than a 15-20 minute hair cut you might get at another place. Kojak will spend closer to an hour getting the cut just right and it's nice to not have to go through the "grow-in" phase where you don't like your hair for the first few days after it gets cut before it starts to look more natural. I moved to Capitol Hill in May of 2019 and have been coming in about once a month since then. I've always had a good experience with Emily and the rest of the staff until my last experience. I had a very large beard and needed it to be short and professional for job interviews. My barber Ben Taylor did not use scissors on my beard once, did not ever lean my chair back once, and proceeded to give me what is arguably the worst beard cut I've ever experienced in my life. It was so uneven I had to go buy a beard trimmer and fix it myself at home. When he cut my hair I felt like he was taking too much off to which he replied that he was not, then when we finished I expressed that what he had done was not what I had in mind and his response was to tell me I should get better at explaining what I want, and it might not be what I want but it's what I got, then rushed me out of his chair. Never in my life have I had such a terrible experience with a barber before. Every other experience there was great but after this I will never go back, or recommend this place to anyone read more

Honestly not impressed for all the hype it gets. There was not a focus on me as a customer. The barber I had kept chatting it up in the middle of my haircut with one of the other barbers and also with some remaining customers. This happened many times throughout the cut, at least 4-5 times, where I was just left sitting there waiting for them to wrap up that part of the conversation. For a place that charges a premium ($45 for a cut) this is absolutely not acceptable. I've had better customer experience at a Great Clips... This was a late (7:00 PM) appointment with no manager there. Maybe the barbers take advantage of the business after the manager is gone. The cut was quality, the barber seemed fairly personable, but for $45 I'll take my business somewhere else. Another annoyance to top it off, the default minimum tip on their machine was already at 20%... If you're going charge top dollar for a cut you need to have it all, quality cut and making sure that the customer is the center of your attention. read more

He takes time to understand the hair on my head: the way it goes and the way it doesn't want to go. 2.) He pays attention to my needs and the goals I have for my hair. 3.) Being in Seattle on business, I have only twice in my lifetime decided to let someone who I am not familiar with cut my hair. Such was the case as with my chance of selecting Scotch Pine which was near my hotel in the Queen Anne area. Based on previous positive reviews on yelp, I decided to stop by and get a trim. Upon entering, I learned that the shop is "By Appointment Only" however as it so happened Trent was in between clients. Well you know the saying - "one should never judge a book by its cover" So true as Kent would have been the last cutter that I would have chosen based on his appearance but being from the San Francisco Bay Area where diversity and openness is accepted I had no choice as he was the only one available and I was so glad he was the one to cut my hair. From the moment I sat in the chair he was on point. First thing he did was he washed his hands as I surmise that he probably had a smoke prior to seating me. Next, he got to know me as an individual as to how I wanted my hair cut. It helped that I knew what I wanted - 0 on the sides and 2 in the back. During the course of my cut, he accidently dropped his scissors on the floor and rather than pick them up and continue to use them, he placed them on the counter and got another pair. He also used a straight edge for a clean look around the ears and neck as well as trimming a rogue eyebrow hair or two.During the short time that I was with him, I learned that he had lived in San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Los Angeles but recently moved to the Emerald City with his wife and kids. I would definitely come back here but sadly, I learned that they will be moving at the end of the year to a new location on Capitol Hill due to the landlord changing the building. So so sad to hear that as I would come back again but perhaps I might make an extra effort to go to their new location and seek Kent out. read more

This location has reopened in Madison Park, and it has truly only gotten better. The quality of cuts is the best in Seattle (not even close), and leaves you feeling better than ever. These guys do not rush and take a full hour to perfect your cut all while jamming out to great music and entertaining conversation. The shop is clean, trendy, and chairs are high quality and comfortable. They even provide a hot steam towel after your cut.
