Significant museum holdings document the life and development of Ukrainian immigrants and their contributions to America, as well as ongoing worldwide developments in the present day. Of particular interest to many will be the extensive catalog collection of Ukrainian Pysanky eggs, which are categorized by region of Ukraine. Each region having distinctive decorative differentiations that relate to local customs, traditions, familial and belief structures. Housed in a separate building to the rear of the main museum, which is a house, is a meeting facility where lectures and presentations are frequently given. Ukrainian community meetings are also held here. This building houses collections of Ukrainian artwork, and an extensive historic library of books by Ukrainian authors, historic Ukrainian language, newspapers, and other publications from both Ukraine and United States. In a slow but steady manner, this collection is in the midst of a digitization process. The holdings are extensive, and so I would expect that this will take a significant amount of time and resource to accomplish. A gift shop is operated which contains a variety of cultural items, pysanky egg making supplies, books, and literature, jewelry, and clothing. There is a large historic park just across the street from the museum. Many historic buildings are in the neighborhood and it is worth some time to drive or walk around to have a look at them. This will give visitors a great feel for what being a member of the Ukrainian community has been like historically.

I first came to know of the Dunhan Tavern when my then-fiance and I were on the hunt for an intimate, low-key wedding locale, my father - the all-time Cleveland denizen - suggested it to me. After jumping through hoops with other, more conventional wedding venues, we visited the Dunham Tavern and the process of booking our wedding was as simple as placing a nominal deposit and picking any one of dozens of available days. The Hickories house I think was the best to date we've seen in respect to architecture and craftsmanship. The history behind this home was just as interesting. Vendors sell ethnic eats, ice cream, and hand crafted items like tie died clothing, jewelry, and pottery. The neighborhood is leafy, eclectic, and brick lined. I recently found a beautiful federal style end table that I absolutely adore for only $35! It is solid mahogany with amazing carvings. It was quite the deal. When I stopped in today I picked up some really cool vintage Glass Christmas Ornaments. They look just like the ones I grew up with on our Christmas tree. They also have vintage toys, lunch boxes, dining tables and jewelry. Stop on in, it's worth the drive. I promise you will walk out of there with a new find after each visit.
