Where do I even start with Sara and The Sepulveda Home. If I could dream up my perfect venue and venue coordinator/owner, it would be Sara and her home! The venue is a home in a residential area close to the San Pedro ports. We had our ceremony and reception there. TG we were able to pivot because we originally booked the Wayfarers Chapel that unfortunately is no longer. Sara made it work for us so that we did not have to completely change our plans. While there are small spaces within the outdoors, it didn't feel too disjointed. It allowed for more pockets of intimacy with your guests. The bar area is so lovely with so much character---well the whole home cas wow it's like you're stepping foot in a movie set. The greenery is kept up in such great condition and when the candle lights come on along with the outdoor fireplace at night, it is pure magic. This venue is not ordinary or cookie cutter. Everything is done up thoughtfully. It's for those that want something a little different but still has all the convenience and professionalism of a bigger venue. We went with food from Chef Dora ---also amazing, and so many styles of foods she makes!! The DJ and bartender was found by Sara as part of our package, and they did not disappoint either. My friends commented on how awesome our DJ was--one of the best they've ever had at a wedding. Sara is probably one of the biggest reasons I went with her venue. Not to say the place isn't pretty cas it is literally made of dreams, but Mama Sara is heaven-sent. She's hilarious first of all. But more importantly, she is who I want to support in this world. She's honest, down to earth, fun, incredibly driven and fierce, and loves her community. She not only makes sure your wedding plans are going well, but that your mental health is still ok too, cas she knows how wedding planning can get. Her communication will come in various forms, but she always checked in on me. And helped me figure things out when something isn't going how we wanted. She does go above and beyond to make sure the couple feels good, secure, is fed, and has fun!!! Even at the end of night til the bitter end helping to pack everything up and out!!! I wanted to wait to write this review until I get my pictures but I can't wait. I'll add these later. I came across this venue just by chance. It was the first and only venue that I visited. After seeing it, there was absolutely no reason to keep searching. Right after I got back from Europe, where my then boyfriend had just taken me up to the top of the Eiffel Tower and proposed is when I met Sara, the manager of the Sepulveda Home. I've always had a vision of a 1920's themed wedding To me, it was a very glamorous time, everything from flapper dresses to top hats and canes, pocket watches and lots and lots of feathers. I never dreamed of a traditional wedding, one with a big poofy dress, bridesmaids, in a church with a big cheesy reception at some garbage overpriced hotel. I wanted something different and I was sure the 1920's era, Great Gatsby party would be a hit. Our meeting took place in November 2019. Upon our approach to the house I noticed it was at the top of a hill in probably the best part of San Pedro. Huge, gorgeous homes lined the tree lined street and then The Sepulveda Home appeared. I was immediately in awe and stood there on the street with my jaw dropped in anticipation of seeing the inside of this unbelievable place. Stepping up to the porch this place literally looked like something you'd see in the movies. There were ceiling fans on the porch and rocking chairs, beautiful windows, a manicured lawn and a gorgeous tree that accented the landscape. She opened the door and invited us in and I could barely contain myself. Everything was perfection. The antiques, the furniture, the kitchen....out of this world. Sara and her family had renovated this house which was the Original Sepulveda Family's home, back to its original state with some added flair. She gave us a tour and I explained my vision, which she was excited about. I decided right then there was no reason to look elsewhere and we signed a deal. Our wedding would take place on 10/24/2020. And then Covid hit..... We decided it was best to postpone the wedding for one year. Throughout that year, Sara was in touch several times to talk about more details. Sara is the most down to earth person. So easy to work with, so personable. Every time I spoke to her, it just confirmed I had made the right decision. Fast forward to 10/30/2021, my wedding day had finally arrived. And as I pulled up to The Sepulveda Home in the 1930's Packard, dressed like a Gatsby bride, Sara was outside waiting for me and after seeing how unbelievable everything looked, it took all my might not to bawl my eyes out. Sara and her team had every single detail set up and it was nothing less than perfection. I met Sara's mom, who handmade the beautiful tuxedo chair covers and all the centerpieces and she is an amazing woman. Highly highly recommend!! My husband and I got married at the Sepulveda Home last September. It was absolutely perfect for us!! Venue/Aesthetic: Most photos I've seen online do not give the place justice. We weren't completely sure what we'd think until we saw it in person. The venue is absolutely GORGEOUS. We fell in love with the drooping trees, lush greens, and vintage house. The bridal suite and groom suite are so aesthetic for pictures. The outside is incredibly magical at night with all of the candles and chandeliers lit up. (If you visit the venue please go at sunset so you can see it during the day and at night) The vibe is very much like the Blue Bayou restaurant in Disneyland. (Perfect for our subtle Pirates of the Caribbean theme). We had probably about 80 people all together. I think that was the perfect amount for this venue as it might feel a bit too crowded if you have over 100. Also, highly recommend the live jazz band and DJ. It added so much to the ambiance and mood. Experience: Sara was super sweet, friendly, hands on and helpful from the very beginning. I never felt like I needed to worry about contacting her. She made sure to answer all of my questions throughout the process and make us feel very comfortable and taken care of. It felt like a very personal experience getting to plan everything with her. She handled all of the details and day of coordinating wonderfully. Food: It's Lucille's. The food was amazing. We got lots of compliments and our guests were very happy. No complaints here. Also, we booked the cocktail style reception which fit better with our budget and guests. It was so fun. Guests were much more free to mingle and move around. Sara and her team (Andrea and day of coordinator help Bridget) gave us the perfect wedding over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, and working with everyone has been an absolute delight and pleasure from touring the venue to the wedding night. Perfect. The highlight of our experience working with the team was of course our wedding day - Sara and Bridget directed everything flawlessly and there was never even an opportunity for us to worry about a thing. Before we made the decision we were looking at many venues around the area, and the Sepulveda Home was the only venue that had it all "set up" when we went to take a look. Sara recommended we come in the evening to see the lighting and mood and had jazz music playing softly in the background - we were sold immediately from the classy and intimate atmosphere in the green lush venue. She has been friendly throughout the process and offers opinions and helps weigh pros and cons on colors, linens, decor, anything. Sara is a very positive, friendly, welcoming host who clearly loves the venue. Back to the wedding day: during and after, our guests kept gushing over how unique and beautiful this venue was for our wedding. The venue was a "social garden" that encourages movement throughout the venue, and the bar is rustic and classy, with cigars for purchase in a case, wine barrels, exposed wood, and a trellis overhang that has grapevines growing above. The ceremony area has a huge sweeping pepper tree and during our May 24 wedding with ceremony starting at 5:55pm (originally at 5:30 but guests were still trickling in), the sun was just filtering through the leaves for perfect light while we said our vows. So many perfect things: the balcony overlooking the San Pedro pier for toasts, the retro espresso machine next to the cake serving corner wafting the intoxicating smell in the evening, the included linens, assorted chandeliers centerpieces, chiavari chairs in the price. What's more, as of our booking Sara and team only does 10 weddings a year, so we didn't have to clash with other brides who may be preparing for an event during the same time or even the same weekend. This venue is truly a hidden gem in San Pedro. My husband and I wanted to get married in our hometown but didn't think a place we liked enough existed. Until we heard about and visited The Sepulveda Home. The property speaks for itself. You are taken to another place and time. We wanted an intimate vibe, and having 120 guests cocktail style was the move. The family that runs the venue is so sweet and made sure that I was happy with everything. I went simple with flowers and decor because the venues beauty is really all you need. If you have a chance to book this place, I highly recommend! We are actually sad that our wedding is over. Perfection! We had our reception at The Sepulveda Home on June 11, 2016, it was perfect. Sara took care of everything. My husband and I just enjoyed every moment. All my guest complimented the venue. It was the perfect balance of feeling intimate (think: a family member's beautiful backyard) while being spacious and artfully decorated (mystical greenery, easy movement flow from ceremony to reception to bar). You can tell that much love and thought went into designing this stunning venue. We worked with Sara from beginning to end, and she was so caring, knowledgeable, attentive to details, and easy to trust! Moreover, after seeing many corporate venues who charged extra fees for every little detail, it was such a breath of fresh air to have Sara proactively provide a quote that was inclusive of everything (taxes, fees, etc.) Though seemingly a minor detail, it left quite an impression on me and my husband and indicated to us the values that reflect how Sara and her family approach their clients. We had our wedding here in May 2016 and it was nothing short of perfection. Sepulveda Home does only about 10-15 weddings per year, so they can really devote their attention fully to each wedding. For months prior to the wedding, any time I had questions I could freely email, text, or call Sara directly with any questions whatsoever. First of all, when I arrived at the venue on our wedding day, everything was set up more perfectly than I could have imagined. It's not a place that needs a lot of decorations or flowers, and I had really only brought picture frames and had succulents and about a dozen small vintage vases with a flower stem or two in each. The inside of the house is absolutely incredible. We haven't gotten our photos yet from the photographer, but when I get them I'll update this post to include a few. Everything was amazing, and Sara absolutely made sure that we got fed and had a few moments to ourselves amidst the activity. The venue itself is well suited to smaller, more intimate weddings. We had just shy of 100 people, and I think the max is about 120 to 130 people. We did a cocktail style reception, and I was initially worried that people would be wanting to sit down at times and would be unable to, but there was seating for around ~60 people at any given time, which is more than enough as many people will be wanting to mingle. The Sepulveda Home also does seated receptions as well, though the pricing is different. For us, the cocktail style was perfect and extremely reasonably priced. Both the ceremony and reception are done outside, which is almost always totally fine with Southern California weather. For our wedding, it was quite cool, but I didn't really feel cold at all the entire night -- too much excitement! She also has heating lamps out. If it rains, there's the option of getting tents as well, but very glad I didn't have to deal with any of that. Among the things that Sara will assist with or take care of while you're planning your wedding at the Sepulveda Home are: 1) catering (they work with one caterer, which has amazing food -- Critic's Choice Catering). Sara has done so many weddings with Tracy that everything goes super smoothly. You don't have to worry about a thing -- they take care of having the bartenders, servers, food set up, and the timing! 2) band or DJ -- we did the jazz band and she arranges everything with the band. The jazz band really makes everything feel very classy and elegant amidst the Southern style vibe and decor. 3) day of coordination -- they take care of set up, timeline, organization, and generally making everything happens on time. 4) send off -- they did a candle send off for us that was exquisitely beautiful and very unique. She bought the candles and we didn't have to do a thing. Once I had taken care of the big things -- the dress, flowers, cake, favors, and decorations to bring (just picture frames and guestbook), I really didn't have to stress or worry about anything and was totally secure in knowing that Sara would take care of everything and make it beautiful. This is a very different kind of wedding venue. It is in the middle of a residential neighborhood in San Pedro off of Summerland. I am very familiar with the area but had no idea there were beautiful historical homes there. I went for a June wedding and was also there for the rehersal dinner as well. Positives: -Beautiful greenery - made for awesome photos -cozy atmosphere -not your typical "hotel" wedding -area to have the ceremony -bring your own booze-they provide a bartender -food was good -home had beautiful architecture - this was where the bride got ready for the ceremony Cons: -As I understand it you have to use their caterer -the space is a bit akward, there two separate areas to seat guests and then there are a bunch of bushes between one area and where the ceremony/dance floor area are. -Some of the surfaces are tricky to walk on with heels. Had to be careful not to fall. -all of it was outdoor space so I don't think it would be ideal for certain times of year. read more

Our wedding was at the Sepulveda Home just this past weekend, and it was nothing short of perfect. And I don't use that descriptor lightly. I've never written a Yelp review (or any type of review) before, but it is well worth doing it for Sara and everyone at the Sepulveda Home. We looked at many locations, but this one spoke to us the moment we walked in: the vintage style, the beauty of the home and garden, the care that has been lavished on this 1929 home, and the fact that I have many family connections to the neighborhood...as well as their ability to accommodate our wedding of about 100 people. Weddings are never inexpensive, but the cost was also very reasonable, all things considered. Sara was so helpful and attentive throughout the whole planning process, always being available to answer questions. She handled all the rentals and wrangled the caterers for us, and despite some initial road bumps in the catering department (which Sara dealt with immediately for us), the final result was absolutely wonderful. I made all my plans, put together my decor, gathered the bar supplies, dropped it all off at the house, and Sara and her team worked their magic. Everything was set up to perfection, just as I'd envisioned, if not better, the evening ran smoothly, and the food and cocktails were fantastic. I've had nothing but compliments from guests over the last few days, saying it was the best wedding meal they have ever had, as well as the most beautiful, personal, and elegant wedding they have ever attended. I can't disagree...though I know I'm biased. I do think all of the complimentary guests are being 100% sincere, though. We wanted a day that was elegant and fun, but not over the top: beautiful surroundings, the people we love, but none of the weddings "extras" like games, announcing the wedding party, twenty long speeches, or a loud DJ. The Sepulveda home accommodated our wishes, again, perfectly. It was so tasteful and so enjoyable and I did not have to worry about a single thing all day. My Dear Fellow Brides-To-Be: I have a cautionary tale to share with you. I, like so many others, perused the plethora of wedding sites to look for a place to host my wedding ceremony and reception. I happened upon The Sepulveda Home in San Pedro, Ca. It is absolutely breathtaking. The Sepulveda Home I filled out the inquiry form indicating my interest and waited for a reply. I never received a reply to the inquiry form I filled out. I had to send an email message and also leave a voicemail message. I received a call back. I inquired about the pricing for the venue, catering service and music. I was told that I would need to make an appointment and come visit the location before any pricing information would be given, so I requested an appointment. I also requested the address (since it was not posted on the website) and directions. The appointment time was scheduled and I was told that the location information was forthcoming. I waited for a couple of days, then had to sent a text message and an email requesting the address information again. Finally, it was sent to me. The day came for me to view the venue site. I drove the 75 miles (one way) to get to the location in a timely fashion. I arrived at my scheduled time. I met the venue owner who was affable. I was asked to come in and the owner told me that she would tell the event manager (her daughter) that I had arrived for my appointment. I talked with the venue owner for about thirty minutes, then asked if the event manager was available since my appointment time was at 6:00pm and now it was 6:30pm and I had not seen anything. It was then that the owner said that she does not usually give tours, but she would give me a tour since her daughter was with another customer. The owner showed me the location including the bride and groom changing rooms, the wedding ceremony location and restrooms. I asked about pricing since I was told that I needed to come for an in-person appointment in order to get pricing information. The owner told me that she did not know anything about pricing and that I would have to talk to her daughter about that. I told her that was the reason I drove 75 miles, in order to obtain the pricing information that was not given except in-person. The owner finally showed me the table settings where the event manager (her daughter) and who I can only assume was a potential bride were talking. The event manager introduced herself, shook my hand and said that if I needed any information to email her. She did not apologize for not being available for my appointment. She just kept on talking with who I can only assume was a previous appointment who time spilled into my appointment time. I was flabbergasted. The whole reason for me coming to the location was for pricing information. The owner finally asked me if I had any questions or concerns. I told her yes. I told her that I did not feel comfortable moving forward with her services since my appointment time was not kept. Not only that, but no one offered an apology for wasting my time and gas. I asked her how could I continue to conduct business with her in good faith since the event manager did not acknowledge my appointment, what could I expect going forward. The owner finally gave me an example of how she saw the situation. She said that if you go to the doctor and have to wait for one hour past your appointment time it is worth it because the doctor gives good service. I told her that if I went to a doctor that had me waiting for one hour past my appointment time that I would walk out and never return. In closing, enjoy this time of your life. Our daughter had her wedding here on September 25, 2021. It was so nice to have such professionalism while at the same time such a wonderful personal experience. The staff was attentive to every detail and treated us more like family than clients. They welcomed us into their home during the time we were having pictures taken and again when we arrived for the reception after the wedding. They constantly checked on all our guests while working as a team with the caterer, DJ, and photographers. After the reception they had packed all the items we had brought for extra decorations, wedding cake, and our leftover bar supplies. Instead of spending hours after the event packing these items they had everything ready as soon as the brides left the venue for our family to take back to them. We are from Georgia and was pleasantly surprised at the California hospitality and family atmosphere. It was like having a dinner in our friends or families backyard. The layout is perfect. My fiancé and I fell in love with the Sepulveda Home at first sight. This venue is beautiful AND different. This will not be your run of the mill wedding, this is not a banquet hall or the outdoor garden wedding, this is somehow awesome southern magic in CA. It is gorgeous and an experience for you and your guests, it also isn't run like your "normal" wedding so the flow is changed up and a little different which is really refreshing as well. The coordinator/planner Sara is amazing. She is friendly, responsive and cares so much about every detail of your wedding like it is her own. She takes care of everything and is an wealth of knowledge and a fantastic resource. We just got married at the Sepulveda Home and it was absolutely magical. It is in a residential neighborhood in San Pedro, but as soon as you step into the back yard it feels like you are far from the city. It is so beautiful with a big brick fireplace and chandeliers hanging from the trees. The bride's dressing room is one of the most beautiful rooms I have been in. My girlfriends and I all decided we wanted to move in! Getting all dressed up in such a setting really added to the feeling of being the beautiful bride. Sara and her mother who own the home and run the venue are absolutely amazing. It was their family home growing up and you feel it in how they manage everything with so much caring and attention to detail. I couldn't have gotten through the planning process without Sara. She was SO helpful, always giving me a very prompt reply to any questions I had.or direction in anything I needed. Then whole night was spectacular. From the moment we saw the website, my fiance and I knew that this was the perfect venue for our wedding. It was even better in person. We chose a non-traditional style wedding and it came out beautifully! Both Sara's were wonderful to work with, very supportive and accommodating! All along the way planning was made very simple for me, which was much appreciated. I really felt like I had nothing to worry about. The day of was flawless. Bridal party and groomsmen were able to arrive early to get ready and do photos. The groom's room and bridal suite are amazing! The decor is spot on and made for fabulous photos, as is the rest of the home and grounds! We opted for a morning ceremony with a dessert reception. As guests started to arrive and mingle we had a full cappuccino bar available, with delicious drinks made to order. After the ceremony our guests had a variety of yummy Southern confections to snack on and we kept the champagne flowing. We also opted for a live blues band for light dancing and back ground music. It created the perfect ambiance! Everything was wrapped up by about 1:30 and my husband and I were off to relish in the afterglow. My sister had her wedding here in April. This was the most beautiful, romantic, and intimate wedding I've ever attended. The event space has multiple levels for seating, a raised platform for the ceremony, awesome bar area, coffee/cake area, two dance spaces, balcony for the first dance as a married couple, and the front porch made the cutest backdrop for some bridal pictures. This is truly a magical place for a wedding. The home is in a residential, historical neighborhood of San Pedro, sitting on a large hill. The front of the house is very pretty and inviting, and you would never know that it holds A Midsummer Night's Dream garden atmosphere in the back. There's palm trees, ferns, walls of ivy, willow trees, and a bunch more greenery that I can't name, which all blend together to make it so cozy, unique, and romantic. There were 80 guests at the wedding, and the space perfectly accommodated that many people. I think if you get over 125 or so, it might get cramped. I was the Maid of Honor so I got to spend time inside the bridal suite and the rest of the house. It looked straight out of a magazine - no detail was too small. Every piece of furniture, decoration, and trinket was vintage and special (even everything in the bathroom!). The groom's room had a bear skin rug, liquor in crystal decanters, and many other "masculine" touches. The whole house had a timeless elegance to it, and Sara and her family were happy to show curious guests around inside. Sara and her family made this such an enjoyable occasion. Sara took it upon herself to handle any problems that arose throughout the event. For example, I forgot to print out my speech (oops!), and she graciously let me use her computer and printer. Also, my sister was really happy that Sara went around to each table and asked them to sign the guest book. It seems that she has done this enough times to understand all the little details that might escape someone less experienced. In addition, Sara is a genuinely nice person that made me feel instantly comfortable and relaxed. I cannot praise Sara and her super kind family enough! I got married here in October 2015 and it was wonderful. They gave us the wedding of our dreams. The place is magical and Sara and her staff make everything easy! The setting is so beautiful, both my husband and I wanted to get married outside. They are incredibly organized and go through the event in detail beforehand, with great communication and they made everything I wanted happen. The night of our wedding, they kept to the timetable and all went off without a hitch. We had about 70 people and a 5 piece band. The space is intimate but also has different areas for guests to congregate in the bar area, dance floor, alter, tables. They had asked for all the decor and pieces I was bringing ahead of time and set it up exactly how I wanted. There was literally no work for me to do the day of (aside from the paper flower wall I constructed which they let me come early to do it before I got ready.) From beginning to end, it was the best experience and I highly recommend it to any couple looking for something more intimate. I didn't have a wedding planner and with Sara, certainly didn't need one.
