Stopped by for a cold beer while the wife's shopped in Seward. Bartender was friendly and waited on everyone quickly. They had a good selection of beers on tap. Our wives came in and ordered Bloody Mary's that were spicy and good. The bar has kind of dive feel to it. read more

The main flaw: no food, has been fixed! You can order amazing Mexican food from next door! Unfortunately the service was very inattentive while we were here. The bartender got us our first drink and then never asked us if we wanted another. We had dry glasses for 20-30 minutes the first time, before asking for another one. This happened multiple times. Make sure you're outgoing and assertive, or you'll only get a single drink! read more

Not realizing how dependent Seward is on tourism, and that most shops and restaurants are closed in the off-season, my husband and I visited the small seaside town on our honeymoon. There wasn't much open so we decided to sit and have a pint or two at the Seward Alehouse. Besides the bartender, there were about four locals in the pub and my husband and I stuck out like sore thumbs. It wasn't until we were almost on our way out that we were able to engage with the locals and enjoyed some lovely conversation. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a small local pub and the beers were average. A nice place to warm from the cold and enjoy a more authentic side to Seward. read more

This bar is right on the main drag and a fantastic place to pop in for a drink they have 9 or 10 drafts which are half from Alaska. It's a nice mix of locals and townies. The bar staff is quite fun and will give you a good advice on other things to do in town The real winner in this place is it has a secret window to the taco place next door El Chicharron! You can order your burritos or tacos and then sit at the bar while waiting and then when your food comes up you can actually eat inside the bar. What a great concept for all those people that are standing in line on the sidewalk waiting to get into the restaurant. read more

Fun bar with delish Mexican food (and we are from San Diego, CA!)

Friendly bartenders and loved the spicy margaritas! Rockfish tacos from the taco window were delicious.

I don't know much about the place but I do know you can get food from the Lone Chicharon next door which makes this place OUTSTANDING! So you can get a Cold one to go with your Mexican food! read more

A small non-smoking alehouse (beer is the focus), with pool tables and locals. The big drawback from my perspective is that they serve no food. I don't expect much, but pub-food is part of going out for a beer. Their good selection of beers can't make up for the lack of food - it really limits their clientele -- but maybe that's what they want. On the other hand, being smoke-free is a big deal, as almost every other bar in town allows smoking (and they are smoky). read more

Looking for a place to grab some drinks and chill in Seward and this seemed like the spot. We walked inside and knew we must stick out like sore thumbs. The bar tender was super nice as we decided what to drink and my friends ended up doing the $2 mystery shots. I stuck to my fruity hard apple cider until my friend got us to do another damn round of fireball shots. Anyways, some of us chilled at the bar while we watched the rest play a pitiful round of pool. I've got no room to talk since I can barely play myself. Still, I enjoyed the whole in the wall atmosphere as well as the nice fireplace that kept the place nice and warm. Such a honest place. We asked for wine and got the honest answer that they have only box wine. Nothing wrong with that, just be honest. That's a perfect example for other bars that try to hide the boxes.... Seward Alehouse is a nice bar with pool tables and TVs. Stop by if you are in Seward. Cheers! read more

This is the closest thing to my hometown bar that I've found in Alaska. The crowd is good, young and old and everyone seems to be in the same mindset. The Alehouse has about 7 beers on tap and a full bar. Great bar tenders, I've never had a problem getting my drink or shot when I've been in need. On top of all that you can sit back and play pull tabs to your hearts content. Pool tables and some arcade games if you get bored talking to people. This is also a spot to get away from the touristy crowd and the bullshit that surrounds them. read more

Pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a bar in Seward, AK. It seems like there were more locals than tourists when we were there, which was nice. A pretty decent beer selection, but I probably won't order a cocktail. There are the requisite pool tables & juke box; be forewarned, smoking is allowed inside, which was almost a deal breaker for me. read more

The food is non existent. The bartenders are rude. There is a little dog that barks at you if you are lucky, humps your leg if you are not. And when I say dog, I mean the balding owner. The Alehouse has great atmosphere, a younger, more active crowd, and has recently gone 100% Non-Smoking. There is no city ordinance, and all the other bars are very smokey. Other bars have great alaskan atmosphere, with more moose racks or historic boating paraphernalia. Most of the clientele at those bars are historic boating paraphernalia themselves. The Alehouse is where you'll find your kayak guide after work, mt. bikers talking about trail conditions, a local softball team after a game, and amateur fisher-people celebrating a catch.
