If I could give zero stars, I would. The Shandon Group has to be the most unresponsive, poorly managed property group I've ever dealt with. It took them over TWO MONTHS to fix a broken washing machine--a basic necessity--and getting them to address any issue is like trying to land on the moon. Our AC broke, and we were left sweltering for months before they finally bothered to repair it. Meanwhile, the wood around the property is rotting, and they don't seem to care one bit about maintaining anything. To make matters worse, the house was absolutely filthy when we moved in. It was clear no one had bothered to clean it beforehand. The floors are so dirty that even after multiple deep cleans, our socks turn black just walking from the living room to the kitchen. It's honestly disgusting and unacceptable. The level of neglect here is shocking, and the customer service is practically nonexistent. Avoid this group if you want anything resembling decent living conditions! read more

After attending 2 universities with many landlords throughout the years I can wholeheartedly say the Shannon group is my favorite company yet. They are the most caring, and responsive group of individuals! If you have a problem it will be fixed BEFORE it has time to ruin your day. Most property groups treat you like a number, at the Shannon group everyone is family and your problems are theirs and they will treat it as such. read more

I gave it 1 star because I had to. This company had me running around ALL morning in 95 degree heat getting all the info and things that they required to rent a place. Gave me keys to look at it. I get ALL of this done just to have the lady (not a nice lady by ANY means) tell me that the landlord somehow in the 45 minutes I was gone, didnt want to rent these units NOW!!! After a 1/2 hour in line at Walmart to get a money order. Bothering my boss for paystubs while she is home with her Covid 4 year old, 95 degree heat and a lot of wasted gas. So sympathy or empathy for what they just put me thru. DO NOT rent here. I promise you you will have an extremely upsetting day read more

This is how the shandon group "manages" someone's property and rented it out to me. I was so shocked when I moved in. I drove 2100 miles from west coast to this small town Columbia and discovered my rental home was like this in the photos. I couldn't move in this unhealthy and dangerous environment with my baby daughter and my pregnant self. These people never inspected the property after the previous tenants moved out a month ago and never checked in with their cleaning crew. The cleaning people left chemical supplies on the kitchen countertop and left both front and back door open for 3 days. So unprofessional. I've mentioned all the issues to the owner, Chris Twitty so that he can fix the problems, but he told me I should've cleaned the house myself and moved in as if this is not a big deal. And then told me about the missing doorknobs, it works fine by pushing the door so it should be fine as if I'm being fancy wanting to have doorknobs on the room doors. I was just so frustrated and shocked how he reacted to the situation and trying to avoid his responsibility. I felt so betrayed having good faith in people by this company and the owner. I wanna find out the owner of the house so that they can know how this company is managing their houses. If anyone knows about this, please help me fight for this. Thank you. read more

I leased an apartment from The Shandon Group and Ms. Mary Twitty was a pleasure to do business with. Their sublease process was very simple on the administrative side and the office was very compliant. There were a handful of issues in the unit like any other apartment, but the assigned maintenance man (Mr. Scoggins) was great at his job and always got the issues fixed in a timely manner. I've leased from a few landlords and property managers and The Shandon Group is by far the best I've leased from in Columbia. I definitely would lease from them again and refer them to my friends often. read more

Over 6 years later, I still have to deal with the Shandon Group. I rented an apartment from them in Georgetown SC on a 6 month lease. The property was put under the management of the owner's daughter (between 18-21 at that time) and she was just POOR at her job. Myself and ALL the other residents would get notices posted on our doors EVERY month threatening evictions for late payments and every time the Shandon Group said it was a mistake and ignore it. She would hire handy men who lived in the property and after a few months would fire them but they were allowed to keep keys to the apartments. All of the apartments were entered into by these men and robbed on a regular basis. I lasted my 6 months lease and moved. The Shandon Group then abandoned/closed up the property due to mismanagement but are still trying to fraudulently collect over 1600 from me and have put it on my credit. I have repeatedly try to discuss this with them and today one of the collectors told me "It will be off your credit report in another year. What's the problem". The problem is I work hard to keep my credit up and this group is a badly run company. Makes me wonder if they use their "REPORTED BAD DEBTS' as a tax write off. Steer clear from ANYTHING they handle cause it won't end well for you. read more

Very disappointing and frustrating experience with The Shandon Group. The owner's daughter is quick to secure your business but careless and unresponsive after that. We rented out our house briefly and every time there was an issue, there was slow response or mediation from Shandon. At some point we weren't even sure if they were representing us or our tenants! The closer you get to the end of your contract, the less interested they appear and don't seem to care to represent you anymore. In fact, the owner, Chris, told my husband that "since we are soon to be no longer customers" (i.e. we are moving back into the house) he would expect that his people would be slow to answer our emails/calls. (This is while we still paid them monthly!). We had tenants who lied over the number of pets they had, then left the house with some things that needed to be taken care of. I have been waiting on a call/message from the owner's daughter for a month, despite my calls and even visits to the office. I'm telling fellow military families not to go with the Shandon Group, but felt a review might help others as well. Don't go with this company unless you want to waste a lot of time and get some headaches. Poor working ethics and unprofessional upper management. read more

I have been dealing with a leaking roof for 4 months now with significant internal damage. It has been "fixed" 5 times just to have it leak every time a dark cloud comes over columbia. Four months with water dripping from more than two places in my roof with no contact at all from the leasing company despite multiple calls on my behalf concerning it. I was not notified that I would be SHARING a garage with my neighbor as the garage is too small to fit two cars. To make matters worse, my neighbor who shares my garage has told the leasing company it is only her and her roommate while their boyfriends live there in secret. There is no room for my single weekly bag of trash in the trash can. She parks her car there for days at a time causing me to rack up meter tickets. I thought living in a studio alone would bring me peace and isolation but it is more trouble than it is worth. I am looking forward to the end of my lease. read more
