Stage and set of Hadestown. This is much smaller than other theaters where this show has toured.
    Lisa K.

I recently visited this theater for the first time. I didn't even know that the Villages had a performing arts center, but when I heard that my favorite show, Hadestown, would be stopping there as part of a national tour, I had to get tickets. I have seen Hadestown at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts center in Orlando as well as the Jacksonville Center for the Performing arts. When I first sat down in my seats, the first thing I noticed was that the stage area looked tiny compared to those 2 venues. I thought I may have just not remembered the set, but as the show went on and I noticed big changes in the choreography, I realized that the show was changed to accommodate a much smaller stage. This was a big disappointment for me as someone who loves this particular show. The performers did an amazing job and the dancers did well with the smaller space, but the effect was just not the same. There are so many shows that incorporate a rotating floor in the choreography and this was notably absent from this stage. They were not even able to accommodate the entire band on stage for this performance as the drummer had to play backstage. The venue is very clean and beautiful, but I will not be seeing a traveling Broadway show here again because it just isn't the same experience as watching it in a bigger venue.

Gorgeous sanctuary to enjoy live music, a beverage and fellowship before a performance

AA smaller, well designed theater where almost every seat is good. Excellent acoustics in the orchestra and balcony.

All the seats offer fantastic views, although I think there are some on the extreme edges sold as "partial view" depending on the staging.

Ever since Sig Pro started, the quality has deteriorated. Some shows are good and shows like Chip…read moreand Dale were disgusting. In addition, communication through the paper and their own publications are inaccurate with incorrect times, incorrect information about when tickets will be available for sale and starting times on purchased tickets conflict (7:00 and 7:30) The new studio is certainly not an upgrade from the coziness, adequate bar, and easy parking venue of the old one plus the old Studio offered a convenient dining experience. Very poor quality services and no Customer service focus. Now you are lucky if you can find a place to park and there is really no lobby; just a bar close to the door. Really poor design.

The idea for SigPro began when Whitney and Jason saw an opportunity to take their theatre organization to the next level. Whitney and Jason had both worked as actors, technicians, carpenters, and administrators all over the country in the 15 years prior. The pair had witnessed how many theatres were managed. Some of the methods they loved and ultimately stole, and others seemed archaic and not wholistically serving the artists. Armed with that experience they set out to create a space that not only created great art but also created an environment where people could thrive. Whitney and Jason strive to be inclusive of all staff members to be a part of the culture creating process. We hope that SigPro will be a place with positive vibrations for the community, artists, and employees. Significant Productions, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in the state of Florida.
