This is a fabulous middle eastern influenced Mediterranean eatery. I'm accustomed to the fantastic…read moreethnic (middle eastern specifically) from the DC Metro area. This is one of the closest things to that around here. Friendly staff. You can tell the owner is on the grill (older gentleman). The prices are very reasonable compared to other places nowadays in 2026. Highlights- The Zaytoon Burger is a kefta style burger that comes with feta and it is fantastic. Will be returning for it again. Fries are the way I like them personally. Obviously cut in house and just fried. The green house-made hot sauce is amazing. It's what reminds me of the shops in the DC area. Sometimes called chutney, it's a cilantro/jalapeño sauce with maybe a little yogurt as the base. The falafel was great. Fried perfectly crispy on outside and soft on the inside. It reminds me of the kind we make ourselves. Heavily seasoned. Baklava- We got a "half order" which he described as one piece. I eat baklava a lot and the piece that came out was about 3 times larger than what I was expecting. It was as good as it gets. Simple walnut baklava with a great honey sauce that was crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle perfect. A+ so glad to have them in the town! Apparently they have been around a while but we are new here so happy to find this gem.

New favorite spot ALERT…read more This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill. Do not sleep on this little hidden gem on 5th! Before I say anything I have to say this was the best falafel I've had in my life!!!! And I'm so upset I took pictures of nothing because I was just blissfully stuffing my face the entire time. We had: sampler appetizer with 3 dips, pita, falafel and a rice salad. Tacos. Steak kabob gyro. And falafel platter with side chicken kabob. Chocolate pistachio cheesecake. Crème brûlée. The total was under $125 and that feels like a great deal for allll that food! Everyone brought home leftovers. Every single thing was delicious!!! It's also a byob spot which I love. So feel free to bring your own bottle of wine! The staff is wonderful! So sweet. The restaurant is also super cozy and intimate. Reservation recommended in case, but could easily get an outdoor spot or walk in and place a to go order! I cannot wait to try their brunch!!! I pinky promise I'll take pictures then.

Unfortunately, the portion sizes were surprisingly small for the price, especially the chicken dish. We arrived at 5:45 p.m. for our 6:00 p.m. reservation and were seated promptly, which was appreciated. However, we waited about 45 minutes for our meals to arrive. While our waitress wasn't particularly attentive, she did apologize for the delay in getting our food. The restaurant itself is cute, specially outside seating. One suggestion is that the tables are larger for two people. The table next to us requested another table to be moved over to hold their food and drinks properly. The pita bread didn't arrive until later in the meal, and while it was a nice addition, it didn't make up for the small serving sizes and lack of anything to dip it into at that point. I truly wanted to love this restaurant and leave a glowing review because the food itself was very good. Sadly, between the long wait, service issues, and portion sizes that didn't match the prices, the overall experience fell short of our expectations.

The Yelp check in offer of a 20% discount is what brought me in the door. When I showed it to the…read morecashier I was told they NO LONGER HONOR that discount. This is a classic example of bait and switch and cost them a star. I went ahead and ordered a Gyro Platter ($14.97 with tax) choosing 2 orders of fries for my sides. I got my order to go because I was not too keen on the cheap tables. The floor and tables were also sticky, but since a lot of businesses in the area are recovering from hurricane damage I decided that I would not hold that against them, which I consider generous because this may be the norm here. UPDATE: after reading some of the other reviews I came to the conclusion that the lack of cleanliness I experienced IS the norm. If the dining area is so filthy I shudder to think how bad the food prep area is. So take away another star. The only nice things I can say are The fries were nice and crisp, and The meat was plentiful, thick, and flavorful, and providing warmed pita pockets on the side is a nice touch. BUT The onions were practically nonexistent and the tzatziki sauce was NOT tzatziki, it was plain yogurt. Looking over the menu it says tzatziki in one place and yogurt in another. This cost them two more stars. This was my first visit, and I was not impressed by the service, the bait and switch, the cleanliness, and the lack of traditional gyro ingredients. Having earned only 1 star means I won't be back.

A new and improved East Bistro with a new, enthusiastic and friendly owner and an excellent engaging chef. He is respecting the successful original and also adding some improvements! @Peter selected this place and we enjoyed it! Abdul, the new owner, introduced himself, gifted us free black tea with mints leaves, and encouraged us to sample various items such as homemade falafel and homemade lentil soup. I ordered the sampler platter called Trifecta and got the feta cheese on the side since I am currently dairy free. The presentation was excellent and I enjoyed everything served. The hummus was very nice and included a sprinkling of sumac as a garnish. The kabobs and rice were flavorful as well! The excellent falafel, which I asked about, turned out to be Abdul's grandmother's recipe from Jordan! Delicious! We met Z, the chef and were able to examine the huge gas powered oven for flat bread and more. Z's food was very nice, both tasty and beautiful. I also got a spiced/herbal flatbread to go for my wonderful wife. We will heat it up and try it tonight! . Life is good with an excellent meal, great service and a spotless and welcoming restaurant.
