While staying at The Shay Hotel I ran into a problem with late night room service not offering much of a California menu and with the restaurants closed I ended up using Uber Eats. The next day Dani who is the director of rooms sat with me and rather than just hearing a complaint engaged in active listening. As I described my frustration I could see that she was literally putting herself into my place. Our discusssion centered around solutions ranging from partnering with local late night delivery restaurants, expanding the late night menu and talking to the on-site restaurants. As I get older I think of businesses the way people think of doctors. They are essentially in a practice of sorts and some value customer feedback and some don't. Dani expressed a high level of EQ, which impressed me, professional aptitude and from what I've seen her staff loves and respects her deeply. The hotel staff is truly special as I felt like I was checking into a boutique hotel rather than a chain. Hyatt has that about it and The Shay exemplifies how to make you feel like your stay is important. Rebecca, one of the Guest Service Hosts had me smiling from the time I arrived till the day I left with her delightful persona and caring demeanor. Carmela and Luther were also cheerful, warm and just the sweetest people. There are two restaurants at the hotel and Zaytinya is its Mediterranean draw. Simply one of the best dinners Ive ever experienced as a Pescatarian. Our server Leon was incredibly attentive and warm. read more

The Shay hotel located in Culver city is an excellent mix of Boutique and being part of a chain. The front lobby is very inviting and mixes in living room elements while still remaining hotel top quality. The check -in price was smooth and they shared with our group that you can get 10 min or less than 2 mile ride share (i forgot the exact details) to surrounding area. This nice perk comes in handy because not too far from the hotel is a very trendy city vibe with restaurants, trader joes and EREWHON! Our room was upgraded to the pent house and i feel the design of the penthouse was better than the regular rooms. So i will give that tip to hotel design to treat all rooms fair ! I would definitely come back here due to ease of location to a local nice tourist vibe in culver city and to rest of downtown LA and proximity to the public train system if that's your vibe. read more

My daughter's wedding weekend brought us to The Shay, and it turned out to be a great place to stay. The hotel has a modern, stylish vibe, comfortable rooms, and a fantastic rooftop pool that was the perfect place to relax between wedding events. The location is also excellent. It was just a few minutes from our wedding venue, SmogShoppe, and an easy walk to The Culver Steps, where you can grab a Hailey Bieber smoothie from Erewhon or, if you're more like me, a much less expensive smoothie from Trader Joe's. Service was consistently friendly and professional throughout our stay. The biggest downside is the cost. Our room was about $425 per night, and once you add taxes, occupancy fees, and $60 overnight parking, the total climbs quickly. It is definitely not an inexpensive stay. That said, the overall experience, including the comfort, service, and atmosphere, made it feel close to worth the premium. As an unexpected bonus, we spotted José Andrés at the hotel. If it is good enough for him and his restaurants, that is a pretty good endorsement in my book. 5 stars. read more

First time staying in this place, we came here for the FIFA game, the place is convenient, not walking distance but taking a lyft about 15 mins to the stadium unless there's traffic about 30mins. When we first got in, the place was super nice and clean. There's a few places to relax and do work if need be. They have a bar area and pool table area. The room is big and spacious, which is a plus. They have a restaurant on 3rd floor, its delicious and plenty of food. The reason why I love this place and will definitely come back. I forgot hair spray and my partner forgot shaving cream. I texted the number room service and they brought all what we needed within a few mins. Amazing service. They have pretty much everything, if you left something and needed a toothbrush or button fell off your shirt they have a mini sewing kit. Most hotels don't have these items and I think that is what makes them top tier in my opinion. They even called and let's us know if we needed a late check out. Which most hotels don't do. You have to call them and ask. I would most definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely come back again. read more

This hotel is simply stunning! perusing the resort pass app, something about this hotel stuck out in the scrolling and I am so glad it did. It was the coolet experience I've had in a while. We ubered from inglewood to culver city and got dropped off to the most delightful front desk attendant. We were in town for a conference and to our chagrin it was the same hotel the company had rented out for the conference and that alone felt like a vote of confidence! Popped into The Shay Hotel with a poolside pass for the day, and boy did that short experience make me want to return to actual stay at this beautiful place! The lobby alone is gorgeous and wonderfully decorated. From the furniture to the wall art, so much detail was clearly put into the interior design. This is the only rooftop pool in Culver City, so it's clear others have the same idea to use to the pass for a day-visit. The pool deck is absolutely delightfullll, well-kept, wrapped with lounge chairs and other comfy seating options, has plenty of umbrellas for shade, and is attached to the hotel's bar/restaurant. We were so appreciative of the pool-side service from truly the most friendly guys working there. Walkable to so much in Culver City, the locations is really great too. I'm putting this on my list for my next stay when in LA - I'd be eager to check out the rooms and get the full experience! read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Shea Ivy Station. I tried to get a room, but parking was unavailable, which made the stay impractical for me. Although they did issue a refund, my money has been tied up and showing as pending since August 10. It has now been several days, and I still do not have access to those funds. Regardless of where the delay is happening in the refund process, having my money unavailable for this long has been extremely frustrating. Between the lack of parking and the prolonged refund delay, this was a negative experience overall. I would recommend confirming the parking situation and understanding the refund process before booking. read more

The Shay is a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Culver City. We booked three suites and were super impressed by the generous layout, especially the oversized bathrooms with large showers, separate bathtubs, and private toilet areas. The king beds were firm and very comfortable, and the water pressure was excellent with hot water coming on almost instantly. Each suite had a small patio with two chairs and a table. Although a nice touch, it overlooked Washington Blvd and didn't offer much of a view. However, the rooms were so quiet, we forgot we were in the city center. The pool on the 6th floor, located next to the Butterfly restaurant, was lovely. The lobby is medium-sized but beautifully designed, anchored by a modern fireplace that gives the space a warm, comfortable and inviting feel. A few areas for improvement: 1. We requested two queen beds in two of the rooms, but all three suites were assigned king beds. The team did not initially have a record of our request until I showed the confirmation email. Once clarified, they handled it graciously and deducted $150 from our total. The front desk staff was friendly and professional throughout the process. 2. At $475 per night, I would expect details like hotel slippers and some USB outlets. 3. Both bathroom outlets in our suite were not functioning. Overall, despite a few hiccups, we had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Happy travels! read more

Great little hotel in a nice location. We'll be staying here again. It's really clean and seems relatively new. The staff is attentive and nice, but not overbearing. The rooms are perfect for one or two people, and there's even a nice desk working area if you need to pop open your laptop or take a meeting. Water pressure and temperatures are great as well, and I love touch with the bathrobes and in-room slippers. The pool area looked nice, and there's a restaurant that hangs off of it that seems to have a nice menu. We unfortunately didn't get to try the pool since it was too cold and raining during our stay. As a nice touch, the in-room coffee machine is a Nespresso (with actual Nespresso pods). It's way better and appreciated over those really bad generic pods. If you need to park your car, note it's valet only. It was $50 per night for guests, which seemed okay compared to another hotel we stayed at nearby. They have a system for you to call ahead, and they're really fast getting your car for you when you need it. read more

My family and I stayed at the Shay hotel for 2 nights, from the get go we were given incorrect information. Upon arrival we were told that valet was $60/night and self-park was $40/night - due to late evening arrival and only $20 price difference we chose valet only to find out the next night that the self-park option is only $18/night which is much more affordable than the $40/night self-park quoted amount. This is a way for the hotel to make $$$ by getting customers to select the valet option. Both nights, we had to listen to loud thumping music coming from the rooftop pool area along with moving of furniture sounds well past midnight. There is an also a train that goes by regularly adding to the disruptive sounds. Lastly, we had to move family staying in one of the 2 booked rooms in the middle of the night due to being bitten by something in the bed. Only compensation the hotel offered was $50 off the valet cost. We do not plan on staying at this hotel ever again! read more

I've never stayed at the Shay, and since I live like six miles from Culver City, I doubt I ever will. I've randomly been twice in the last few months, though, first for dinner at Zaitinya, then for a mini college reunion when my old friends Kara L. and Jennifer Y. came through town. The hotel is very nice, modern and attractive with a clean, new feel. The lobby and restaurant are beautifully decorated, and the one guest room I visited seemed pretty comfortable. It was an upgraded room, courtesy of Tom W., who used his Hyatt status to make Kara and Jennifer Guests of Honor. The room's best feature, at least for my purposes, was a spacious balcony patio, where the four of us sat for several hours catching up and drinking Malibu rum and pineapple juice. My only complaint is that the lamp was weirdly hard to turn on--we called the front desk to ask for help, and it was obvious that we weren't the first guests to make this inquiry. The receptionist said it would be easiest to have someone come turn it on for us, and we were waiting on this rescue when Tom figured it out (it's not that difficult, as it turns out, but you really have to get in there to find the switch). We hung out until after midnight, and it felt like a visit to younger days, when we sat around our dorm rooms asking each other big questions. I may not be a paying customer of the Shay, but I have fond memories of my time there. read more

I recently stayed at the The Shay and had a wonderful experience. The location is fantastic -- there are so many great food options within walking distance, and it's conveniently close to the UCLA Medical Center. The hotel itself was very clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Even though it's on a busy street, the windows are soundproof, so I slept peacefully without any outside noise. A special shoutout to the bartender, who made absolutely fabulous drinks and added to the overall great atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others! read more

We stayed at The Shay during Labor Day weekend and really enjoyed our time there. The location is very convenient; we can walk to downtown Culver City from the hotel to enjoy life there. We had a room with 2 Queen Beds facing the courtyard and the train tracks, which reminded me of the apartment building I lived in before in NYC. I liked the clean and modern interior of the room. The bed was very comfortable, and I loved the blackout curtains as well. The bathroom's dressing table is very cute and useful. The high-pressure rainfall showerhead in the shower is excellent and relaxing. I love the lobby of the hotel, which features a modern and country-style mixed design. We enjoyed playing pool in the entertainment room next to the bar. You can overlook downtown Los Angeles from the rooftop and enjoy the pool and DJ music there. We also had breakfast and lunch on the rooftop; the food was great. The hotel also has other nice restaurants, but we didn't have enough time to try them. It also has a nice gym and ballrooms to host events. The service was excellent! The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. She was very patient and helped us with all kinds of questions. We will definitely recommend The Shay to our friends and will visit again soon! read more

I really like the vibe and view at this Hyatt destination hotel. The moment of almost immediately upon walking into the lobby of The Shay hotel, can sometimes feel like being in an offsite writers' room. In fact, Culver City, with huge presence of media and entertainment companies, makes more of the movies and TV shows you see than Hollywood, which was the original home of Los Angeles film making plus the big sign, so it remains the label to describe the industry. read more

Overall: C | This was the wrong hotel for us, a middle-class family with a small dog seeking a fun pool experience. The Shay is a hotel intended for well-to-do fashionable young people with lots of money. Ambiance: C Room B Service A Food: A Value: D I chose the Shay because my daughter wanted to visit friends in Culver City, so I thought we would make a small vacation of it, staying in a nice hotel with a pool and I decided to take the dog along so he didn't have to go in a kennel. The Shay was top-rated by TripAdvisor, which said it was pet-friendly, and which showed nice pictures of the pool. I called to confirm that the dog was OK, but was only able to talk to an AI attendant, which nonetheless said it would be fine. The price online was about $390, but I decided to go for it to have a special experience. We got there at 2PM and had to wait two hours for their 4PM check-in, rather late by most hotel standards, but I suppose it's a busy place. It turned out the hotel is a "valet only" location, so we had to spend an additional $70 for parking for the one day. We were told we could take the dog up to the pool area and hang out until the room was ready, so I went up to check it out. It turned out that the "pool" is quite small and is actually the centerpiece of an expensive restaurant attended by the elegantly-dressed well-to do. Sitting there in traveling clothes, with our dog, didn't feel right, so we waited in the lobby and walked around the neighborhood, which has a downtown-ish feel, right next to a train station, in an area almost entirely concrete with fast moving traffic all around, and miles of gray modern condos and shops in every direction, and the occasional screaming homeless person. There is a very small dog park right across the street, but otherwise the area is mostly bereft of vegetation. When I finally checked in, it turned out there was a $100 pet fee, something their AI attendant didn't mention. But I had no choice at this point and accepted it. Later, we went up to the pool, but again it's just not comfortable to be in a small pool surrounded by elegant people having meals and drinks -- too much of a fishbowl feeling, so we never used the pool. We did end up eating at the restaurant the next morning, for breakfast, and although it was expensive, I will say the food was excellent. Service was good, not only at the restaurant but generally throughout the hotel. The room TV didn't work, but it was remedied within a couple of hours by helpful staff. I think this is the kind of hotel where the TV is little used. My observation was that there were a lot of very good-looking LA-type people there, some could even have been models, and they probably have better things to do. For a young, trendy couple with a lot of money, this would be a fine place probably. But if you're more middle-class, you can probably find a different hotel that fits you better. read more

This is a very nice hotel. Everything is fresh and new. We are enjoying the Patio King Suite which is beautifully appointed and has its own private patio space. There is a huge accordion door that leads to it and that really transforms the suite into an indoor outdoor space. On check in we were helped by Bernice at the World of Hyatt desk. She was warm, welcoming and super attentive. She went the extra mile to make us feel at home. Ultimately any hotel is really just a big box of bedrooms. We rented the Penthouse Suite to celebrate a milestone birthday, and had a truly excellent experience! I emailed ahead to see if the staff could make our stay a little extra special, and they delivered. Support staff seemed to know who we were, there was a charming card waiting in the room for us, and some little extras. My dog and I are in the middle of our second stay at the Shay. We are local to west LA but have needed to be at hotels due to remediation work on our house. We've tried a few dog-friendly hotels in the city so far, as well as one in Santa Barbara, and the majority have been good, but the Shay is our favorite. Cleanliness: 5/5. I'm sensitive to mold and strong odors. My dog has terminal autoimmune liver disease and more recently liver cancer, so any environmental hazard can tax her liver and shorten our time together. You could say I'm a little neurotic about it. We've stayed here now in the most basic room and a more expensive suite, and they were both very clean, scent neutral, and well-maintained given the building is pretty new. Comfortability: 5/5. Mattresses are comfortable. Shower-head pressure is great. AC and fan work well. If you like a firm pillow, bring or request one. They're soft but full. I don't mind that. Staff: 5/5. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Have yet to have a negative interaction at the hotel. They remembered us when we came back, which is nice. There was also a mixup during our first stay where we had the QR code for our neighbors on the room-service menu. This led to a long delay for breakfast before I realized what had happened and called the front desk. During checkout, the hotel comped my meal for the mixup, which was nice of them. Pet accommodations: 5/5. Dog bowls provided, dog bed offered but declined. Fridge is spacious and cold enough to keep my dog's Just Food for Dogs Hepatic RX and medicines for a few days. There's also a removable shower-head you can use to wash your dog or just his/her paws off. There is a grassy area with dog bags just a few paces away from the entrance of the hotel. There is a $100 fee to bring pets, which is not uncommon; they say $15 goes to a pet charity. Location: 5/5. You have a ton of shops and restaurants within walking distance. You're in a good part of Culver City. I would be watchful at night when walking around, because you're next to the metro station. Value: 4.85/5 You will be paying an extra $50 a day for valet parking if you bring a car. This is standard for most hotels in LA, but if I didn't harp on it, you'd think the review was paid for or fake. There's a nespresso in the room and 2 complimentary waters a day, but there's no free coffee or snacks in the lobby. You do get some discounts nearby, I think, but you're charged a $30 destination fee regardless whether you use them or not. Overall, the price for the location and peace of mind that you're going to be somewhere clean and comfortable is really very good. read more

We're def staying here again if we're ever in Culver City area. Tip: 1. If you want to save a bit of money on parking and don't mind non-secure-valet parking. Valet parking of $45 is the only option here. But the same underground parking offers public parking (gated, so it looks safe) for max daily fee of $18. So you would save more than $30/day (including tips) 2. The Co-op market across the street is so convenient! Staff & room: - Friendly and efficient staff - Text message system with the hotel staff is so convenient and they are right on top of things. Loved it! - Valet is a bit pricy at $45/night. But that's on par with surrounding neighborhoods. And it's a peace of mind for the car. They're always quick at retrieving the car. Never had an issue. See tip above, you can park in the same underground parking for max of $18/day - Plenty of lights in the room. All adjustable and placed at all the right places. We especially like the ones in between the beds, the decorative and the focus lights. The motion-sensor bathroom light was great! - Shower's water pressure is great (very strong), yet adjustable if that's not your thing. Neighborhood: Convenient location. Co-op market across the street has everything you would need, to support local community. Employees there were so friendly and helpful. We absolutely love this property. We've stayed here twice now and love how it's so convenient and central: from being walking distance to downtown Culver to being close to all of our friends on the west side. The hotel is brand new with a beautiful rooftop pool space. It's super swank and everything is kept spotless. There are also Flowater refill stations at the gym and ice machine areas, which I love. However, this time they went the extra mile. We booked our stay for a regular room, but we're traveling with our baby for the first time. We politely asked Brittany at the front desk if there were space available upgrades that we were happy to pay for. Brittany was amazing and even managed to get us upgraded to the presidential suite, which floored us! She didn't have to: I have no status with Hyatt. But she did everything possible to make our stay hassle free with a child. Every time we come to LA, I'm almost certain I'm choosing to stay at the Shay each time. read more

Wow..... I am blown away by this team and property! Tucked away in the heart of Culver City, The Shay is an excellent weekend getaway. I had a work event in LA and my partner and I decided to stay the night, so we didn't have to drive back to Orange County. I love that The Shay hosts cool meet ups for the local community. When we checked in, we were encouraged to checkout the rooftop to see the pool and visit their event. It was so cute. Our room was perfect. It had an awesome review. The bed was comfortable and just what we needed after a long day at work. The Shay is in walking distance to so many things to do in Culver City. Had an good experience at the Shay for my birthday weekend! Huge shoutout to Omar for responding to my many questions via email, and setting me up for a great time! Another shoutout to Jackson for helping us check in super late at night and providing awesome customer service. Amenities here are great. The room was clean. I was surprised by some goodies for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture which I definitely appreciated. Bed was good. Bathroom was great. Shower was awesome. Everything about the room was thoughtfully laid out. Only downside to the room, close to the front of the TV, the floor was a bit uneven and there was a pretty big creaky sound whenever you would walk by. I also did wish the room came with a bit more toiletries. They have a little card of items which they can provide (which was great), but a few times, it took staff really long to provide my requested items (clearly because they forgot, but not a big deal). Lobby area is a vibe. There is a pool room with TVs. A lot of areas where you can work or just chat. Fitness center was really nice. Didn't really use it, but just checked it out. The Shay shares the lobby with restaurant etta which was recommended by staff and friends. We tried them out which was great as well! They have a pool at the top but it shares with the bar/restaurant upstairs. It definitely got crowded so we decided not to mingle with strangers. Parking is a bit pricey. Only $45/day valet available. I believe there should be cheaper parking options nearby where you can park for a day, but just decided to eat the cost of parking for ease. We stayed here recently and had a good experience. The rooms are spacious. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nice and the shower was spacious. Our room had a balcony. However, it overlooked the apartment across the street and an intersection where another building is currently being built, so it was noisy. It wasn't as noisy as the person stomping above us though. The floors/ceilings must be thin, because it seemed we could hear a lot of people walking around, especially late at night and early morning. We enjoyed the pool one afternoon. The wait staff were friendly. The drink prices are what you would expect for a hotel pool lounge ($8 seltzers, $15 cocktails). The $30/day guest fee and a $50/night valet parking fee seemed to be on par with several of the other Hyatt properties in the area. The area has some restaurants , shopping, and a brewery close by, but overall there's not much to do. While we had a good experience, we would probably stay closer to the areas of LA we like to explore next time. read more

I love having a nespresso maker in the room. Etta, the on site restaurant was fantastic! We had breakfast, brunch, and dinner there! So spacious I half expected a synchronized swimming team to pop in. And let's not forget the Nespresso machine, because caffeine is a non-negotiable, and The Shay understands that. Now, onto the rooftop--a.k.a. the place where your worries disappear faster than a bottomless mimosa brunch. If you're feeling bougie, rent a cabana and pretend you're a celebrity hiding from the paparazzi. Of course, no place is perfect, and The Shay does sit right next to a Metro station. This is a beautiful hotel. It has a nice roof top. But, a lot of staff don't know what they are doing. They are nice, but maybe they are just still adjusting. Valet is a hot mess when there are a lot of people, usually at night, so beware and good luck. City views are quieter, if that's something important to you, because the other side faces a popular restaurant (I.e. loud drunk people at night) and the tram. It just felt like a pool day and The Shay Hotel was the perfect spot to have that experience. I reserved my pool chair and entry into the hotel through Resort Pass (google it if you don't already have it!), and the process of checking in was easy. It was my first time there and I didn't know what to expect, but when I stepped off out of the elevator, a rooftop oasis greeted me. There's a restaurant bar and restaurant adjacent to the pool area. We recently had like a business type media convention here. Stayed here at the Shay Hotel, and it was mad crazy beautiful. Hotel is in a nice area, with a good view of the city looking down. We had some good food here and room service was the best. The drinking bar is fun too. We all had dinner and drinks, and started dancing in the halls. Lots of Weddings are performed here too. Excellent staff, very professional, personable, and efficient. From the valet parking, to the front desk and restaurant personnel, everyone is obviously well chosen for their friendliness, kindness, and intelligence. Their location next to metro stop and bus stop and 1 block from Platform, made this an ideal choice for people who don't want to drive in LA. The Valet parking for hotel guests is $42 with discounted rates/times for restaurant guests. There is also a $25 resort fee, so this is not cheap for the size and location, but your choice if you want convenience without driving and a modern decor. The King Room with a city view had excellent views of mountains and Platform (restaurant and shopping center). Amenities were nice with a Nespresso machine in room with both regular and decaf pods, plush robes, and USB charging ports in the alarm clock module. The only snag to the stay was the noise from the metro line stopping and the people in the hallways, so if you are wish a quiet place, bring your earplugs! read more

We stayed for two nights in September during our LA trip and wished we stayed our entire time here. Beautiful new and modern hotel. Was able to snag a suite upgrade with Hyatt Globalist status. One of the best suite upgrades I've gotten. Loved the spacious bathroom and our balcony to have coffee in the mornings. There was no door separating the bedroom and the bathroom area, if you're sharing the room you can't get naked in front of, just an FYI. Not sure if the regular rooms are like this or not. Breakfast is served on the rooftop (which has a lovely pool), ugh gotta love LA weather. Etta is the restaurant housed downstairs and while we didn't dine there during our stay, I know it well because coincidentally the first location originally opened in Chicago, down the street from where I live. So I can attest to the delicious food. The lobby is also impeccable and the staff was lovely as well. Will stay here again! read more

It took some persuassion but my husband agreed to spend New Yeare's Eve at the Shay Hotel. He wanted to stay at the Culver Hotel but as a corporate event planner I have been wanting to experience the Shay Hotel to see if it might be a fit for future event needs. Because it was our anniversary my husband decided to surprise me with a premium suite. We arrived at 2 p.m. hoping that we might get an early check-in but completely understood that it might not happen. When we arrived, the girl at the desk let us know that the room wasn't ready and because the current occupants had used their Hyatt Rewards for a late check-out, they wouldn't be checking out until 4 p.m. That meant our room wasn't going to be ready until 6p or 6:30p. I must have misunderstood because check-in is 4 p.m. so how could we be denied access to our room for two hours after check-in time? I am still perplexed by the whole check-in process. I have never felt less valued by a hotel. With our dinner reservation set for 7 pm. a 6:30p check-in would not work for us. We talked about just returning home but we were trying to salvage what little we could of our special evening. We opted to downgrade to a standard king room so that we could at least have time to get ready before our night out. We were issued a refund for the cost difference of the room (which we absolutely were due) and they waived our $30 destination fee. A bottle of wine was also sent to the room as an apology for their error. Although the hotel was very nice and should elicit a higher rating from me the entire experience was tainted by the fact that we weren't important guests. A $40 credit for the inconvenience just wasn't very satisfying. Without the veil of disappointment covering my eyes I can admit that the lobby of the hotel is very inviting. There are fireplaces, seating areas and a pool table for guests to enjoy. The standard king room was very nice (probably not as nice as the king suite but that's just me being bitter). The furnishings are modern, sleek and clean. The location of the hotel is convenient to local shops and restaurants. I really wish I could have experienced this hotel with fresh eyes and an open heart but once you feel like dirt, it's hard to appreciate the beauty surrounding you. I don't plan on staying here again and I cannot recommend this space for future corporate events which is too bad because it is a nice hotel. I would suggest that Hyatt review their membership rewards program to ensure that one guest isn't slighted when another opts to use their points to upgrade their experience. check-in experience: 1 star hotel room: 4 star read more

My friend made a reservation for a suite at this hotel. We got a rim that must have been in a corner, it was just awful. When the couch pulled out to a bed it made it nearly impossible for him to get from the bedroom to the restroom. The mattress on the couch had no bedding. It took two hours and multiple workers to make the bed. Oh, our view was of the metro tracks, and yes, it went by the room, so close you blinds because the riders can see inside the rooms!! My friend really should've gotten compensated for all of these issues. The best part of this hotel are the restaurants, especially the Mediterranean restaurant!!! I also really appreciate the valet who helped me find the parking entrance. This parking is a bit tricky and costs way too much money for what we went through. read more

Drastically overpriced The Shay charges $299 per night for a room that is okay, but nothing special. When I checked in at about 3:30 pm they told me my room wasn't yet ready and tried to upsell me from a 2 queen beds room to a 1 king room for an additional $10/night. When I said I wanted to stick with the 2-queen room, magically the room was suddenly available. There is no self-parking in their garage, and valet parking is $50 per day while there is a self-parking garage around the corner that is $18 per day. The toilets don't flush well. The shower head was too high for me to even reach and adjust (I am 5'6") and the lower hand-held water source was awkwardly placed and not a good substitute for the overhead shower. I didn't have a choice about where I stayed, but you do, so I recommend avoiding the Shay. read more

We had a fantastic stay here. Room was spacious with lots of comfy seating areas. Massive bathtub, and a very clean and homey aesthetic. Reminds of of the virgin hotel styles. The bar downstairs always has welcoming bartenders who make drinks that do you good. Real good. Other patrons here are all obviously have a great time, lots of through traffic but it's organized and not overcrowded. Very professional staff. read more

Recently stayed for a week on a semi-business trip. The hotel is immaculately clean and the staff, from front desk to food service to housekeeping, was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast at The Canopy Club on the roof was a highlight...the people cooking know how to make the most decadently delicious soft-scrambled eggs. The pool deck is a nice spot for gathering with friends, too. I'd definitely stay here again...just know that you're getting what you pay for. read more
