Interesting clinic in the area that delivers a unique experience. Often treatments are late and cut short. A 15 min appointment could last 5 minutes sometimes. During various appointments, I had to wait 15-30 minutes pass my appointment time. Sometimes I would book an appointment online and have no one in the office. The appointments itself is alright, but the practitioner seems very distracted at times. There are various clinics around the area that are priced cheaper and are more personal with their clients. I found this place on Yelp and decided to come check it out because it was near by. I had some insurance stuff to blow off by the end of the year. Anyways... I remember my initial visit. I walked into a dark office on the second floor. The practitioner was there and told me to fill out a questionnaire. I remember him telling me how he wished I didn't buy the Yelp voucher because they only get half the money and Yelp got the other half. That was weird cause he looked really upset about it. I felt very uncomfortable. So... I did my initial examination and got the tests done, and came back for about 15+ visits because I bought a package, which I regret. Every visit was different and it didn't feel as attentive as my visits went on. I eventually stopped coming here with couple sessions left and went somewhere else. At first he would sit you down and talk to you before working on your body to fix the problem you discussed. Later on that doesn't really happen and your 15 min sessions ends early almost every time. I had various ones end in ~5 mins. That's why I try to book appointments that have an opening before and after mine, but sometimes I'd end up waiting still. Hopefully they improve on this. Most visits didn't seem personal even though he says "I'm not worried about the competition. We make it a personal experience. That's what makes us different from the other chiropractors around the area." But all he talks about during our session is how to improve his business or himself and not address the issues on my body. I don't see how his treatments are making it personal for me when all he talks about is himself. I don't want to talk about that, I'm not here for that I came to get healed. I had various parts of my body that I felt were neglected until I persistently brought it up again and again. My issues shouldn't be new issues. He would say well that's it for today. Then I'd have to remind him about certain parts, where he would then adjust. He seems very annoyed by it, and makes me not feel comfortable bringing it up. Treatments were different every session. Sometimes he'd treat my leg and sometimes he wouldn't. There were various occasions where I'd book an appointment and wait half an hour or more and still leave the facility before the person that he was helping on prior. Maybe the person booked two sessions back to back? Who knows. I met Dr. Irina a couple of times. She was very nice and greeted me every time with a smile and sometimes a handshake when she's wasn't busy. She seems dope. I can't review her, and the review doesn't reflect her skills. On hindsight, I should have picked her as my practitioner instead. read more

I've been coming to the Shift off and on for the past two years since I moved to Oakland. After having issues with my knee from an old running/ cross-fit injury, I have intermittent challenges that make it painful to exercise. I've been to a number of chiropractors over the years, and I trust Dr. Ben 100%. I've been to places where they've tried to adjust my neck 2, 3, 4 times, or places that are mere patient factories interested in getting people in and out the door. I saw the recent 1-star review of Dr. Ben and I'm honestly confused, that's not been my experience with him at all. He's been consistently interested in all aspects of my health, always asks me (and remembers!) about work stuff, and wants to find ways for me to be a happier/ healthier human being all around. He seems to legitimately care about me as a patient. In addition, I sincerely appreciate how committed they are to serving the greater population, making sure this service is accessible to all. I have been going to Dr. Ben for little over a year now; I highly recommend him! I have always been a fan of chiropractors and have seen them for many years. Saw Ben for 12 visits over the course of about 2 months and he does great work. His approach to chiropractics isn't just about making the needed adjustments, but overall health and wellness. He did a great job educating me on how other parts of my body were putting stress on my back and showed me ways to relieved that first. He really knows his stuff and does a good job from start to finish. I've seen huge improvements in my movement and less pain in my lower back which was the issue I needed to have worked on. The pain was caused more so by stiff hip flexors which we worked on on during each session. He gave me stretches to do as well as videos to help with my movement and breathing (since I tend to hold my breathe when exercising). When I came to him six months ago, I was only a few weeks outside of a major back surgery that would have stripped me of my way of life for a year of recovery.
