I went to Diamond Chiropractic and worked with Dr. Lauren Emge for shockwave therapy on an elbow injury that was not getting better after months of taking it easy and recommended PT. I shared this with Dr Lauren who suggested trying shockwave therapy. My orthopedist also recommended trying shockwave therapy before considering any kind of invasive procedure. I completed a total of 12 sessions over several months. While each treatment was somewhat uncomfortable--and there was some lingering soreness afterward--I noticed steady, progressive improvement over time. The discomfort was manageable and, in my experience, well worth the results. By the end of the treatment plan, my elbow had significantly improved, and I was able to avoid the invasive procedure that had initially been on the table. That alone made the process incredibly worthwhile. For anyone considering shockwave therapy: it does work, but it requires patience and consistency. Stick with the full course of treatment and give your body time to respond. I'm very grateful to Dr. Emge for guiding me through the process and and helping me recover without surgery. read more

When I lived in Fruitvale, I came to Carrie for my C and T issues in my back. As a graduate student, I could only sit for about an hour at a time due to my T's, and I'd get almost daily headaches to migraines (varied in intensity) due to my C's. As someone beginning in the professional world, whilst struggling through the most difficult part of an MA program, I needed a chiropractor that understood my needs, and customized accordingly; and Carrie was able to do that. Her rates are affordable, and takes most insurance. For my girlfriend she even created a customized-reduced payment plan since my girlfriend couldn't afford the market rate. Carrie cares about the service she provides, and cares about her client's health. Unfortunately, my experiences before finding Carrie, and after moving, have been horrific. The drama, debate, and skepticism around chiropractics are fair, because many, MANY chiropractors are neglectful and abusive, churning in clients as rapidly as possible, whilst never engaging with the client as to their condition. I actually get more headaches and migraines now (while seeing a chiropractor) than before I started seeing one, because of how haphazard many chiropractors unfortunately are. Carrie, on the other hand, was the most patient, engaging, and effective Chiropractor I've EVER had! So much so, that I'm considering commuting from Sonoma to Oakland to see her, because I cannot find a good chiropractor that takes my insurance. I'd recommend Carrie to anyone. Open on Saturdays. Has Early and Late hours. Easy parking. Complimentary adjustment on your birthday! If that isn't enough to entice you, let me convince you. I have been suffering from a nagging back injury for months. Accidentally pulled it really badly doing who knows what. I went from crossfitting 3x a week to simple jogging and using the elliptical. Even swimming hurt my back. I went through ~12 sessions of physical therapy and while it helped, progress was slow and not anything someone who was used to crossfitting would want to go through. Then Dr. Ousley happened. She accepted my insurance (Not that her rates aren't already reasonable) and was the closest location to me that were open on Saturdays, WHATTTT! At first, I was skeptical, I've been dealing up with this problem for half a year at that point and still unable to get close to crossfitting again. Which is important because it's my fitness, it's the level I was used to training at and my fitness was something I was proud of. I figure there was no way this could be a loss if I do go but I wasn't expecting much. Then the adjustments happened, each adjustment, I would leave feeling better, feeling stronger. Now I am at the point where I have been working myself back up to my past fitness level (hoping to surpass!!) and I am feeling good about myself. The best part of my nagging back pain not being there, my desk job doesn't feel like a dying pain!!! I found Dr. Ousley's practice through my Kaiser website. I was experiencing tingling in my mid back and persistent hip pain. Dr. Ousley was prompt in replying to my email requesting an appointment, and her staff was friendly and had a variety of times that worked well with my schedule. At my first appointment, Dr. Ousley located the source of the issue quickly, and provided follow up advice that worked well. I saw her two times a week for a couple weeks, then once a week, and now monthly. Her adjustments hold well and she is very adept and kind with my body. I love Dr. Ousley. I don't see her any more because my back no longer hurts! I am a contortionist and acrobat who had sciatic issues for years that I was just trying to live with, and she slowly but surely made it go away. Not only that, but whenever I came in, she remembered who I was, how my back was last time, and asked about my family. It made me feel like she cared. Even if all she does is brush up on notes, it still makes you feel good. I hate it when doctors can't remember what they are treating you for when you have been at their office a million times. Dr. Ousley is a very skillful chiropractor! I've been here many years ago and I would ocassionally ocassionally make a visit here when I feel the need to. From my first car accident, I had a missing alignment in my neck and Dr. Ousley has taken good care of me. She does not have a massage chair/bed like some chiropractic offices because her hands herself can do a much better job.
