Due to a misalignment issue back in May, I had been in excruciating pain. I was terrified to go to a chiropractor again, but after hearing several stellar reviews, I decided to give Dr. Ryan a chance. My first visit went smoothly, Amina at the front desk was just lovely, very thorough. I also appreciated that my first appointment included x-rays. Dr. Ryan went briefly over what he saw, pointing out the misalignment and how it could be causing nerve pain and tightness in my neck/shoulders. I was amazed after the first adjustment I felt relief. When I went home I received a text message and email with self-care exercises. I gave them a try and they were helpful. After my second appointment I felt more relief and have been pain free for four days. I would say I've gone from a 10 in pain to about a three after two sessions. A decade or so ago, I went to Life Chiropractic after getting some sort of introductory/free offer at a street fair (or something). I was in my early 20s at the time. I went to the appointment, and the chiropractor had me sit in a small room (or something... I remember it being closet sized kinda?). She was very casual about it. Told me how to sit. Left the room. Took an... x ray???? Afterwards, I remember looking at a photo of my upper body insides (?) and being explained what needed help/chiropractor-work/whatever. I remember being surprised... like did these people just give me an x ray without my consent???? Anyway, I was shy and not one to advocate for myself, so I didn't ask. Instead, I let her talk me into paying for some type of chiropractor work that day. I remember it felt emotionally icky. Looking back (and reading about chiropractic care) I'm like... pretty sure they gave me an x ray. I probably technically/legally gave consent when I signed some intake paperwork or something... but damn, fuck that. I think about this experience and get angry once a year or so. read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience here, one of the worst encounters with a medical practitioner of my life. Dr. Crago pressured me into receiving an adjustment I wasn't comfortable with on my first visit, and my body had an unexpected and (to me) terrifying reaction that I had no idea was possible. Dr. Crago felt very indifferent as I was scared, confused, and disoriented, and didn't attend at all to how impacted I was by what happened. I ended up having lingering physical symptoms for several months, and the experience left me with literal PTSD - I still get flushed and angry thinking about what happened, even though it was years ago at this point. I'm glad other people have had a positive experience with this clinic but I would recommend in the strongest terms possible to seek care elsewhere. read more

Dr. Melissa has been a godsend for our family! I first started working with her towards the end of my pregnancy. Dr. Melissa changed my life and I am forever grateful! I have dealt with vertigo-like symptoms since 2008 and my "episodes" can last up to several weeks with non-stop dysequilibrium (I feel like I'm on a boat 24/7). I don't have traditional vertigo so none of those treatments/meds/etc have helped. I have tried all kinds of things over the years and then I met Dr. Melissa. In my first visit with her I was in the middle of an episode. I had nasal ballooning done and I had relief that lasted the rest of that day and into the next one. As we completed the series I was dizziness-free for longer and longer periods of time until I was basically normal. The treatments are intense and worth it since they work! This office does not follow confidentiality practices. The intern was showing my husband my scans without my permission or a release of information. The intern did not show me my husbands scans. Sexism is not okay. Violating someone's confidentiality is not okay. This was extremely unprofessional behavior. I will never come to this office again and I will steer my clients away from this practice. What if I was in a domestic violence situation? You can get people killed by violating confidentiality. The intern needs serious training because she is creating serious liabilities for your business. You have tho THINK people! Come on now, do better or stop practicing!! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Melissa for a little less than a month, after around 2-3 years of intermittent arm, upper back and neck pain that I was mostly in denial about. I'm a musician, and having arm pain is super scary, so I didn't want to face it. My symptoms would come and go, but were getting progressively worse. I finally put my shoulder out really badly and my acupuncturist said I need to go to Dr. Melissa. I got an appointment the next day and I'm astounded at my rapid recovery. Today I noticed that I wasn't doing any of the weird little pain compensation workarounds I'd started taking on unconsciously. I feel a whole new lease on life, like the hands of time got dialed back a couple decades, and I'm super grateful. Having always been skeptical of chiropractic care, I was hesitant to walk through Dr Melissa's door, but I'm so glad I did. I had been dealing with hip and knee pain for about 6 years, most likely caused by falling down an obscene number of times during a season of snowboarding lessons. My hips were so badly out of alignment that I would repeatedly strain my left hip flexor just getting out of bed in the morning, and it got to the point where it was aching constantly. I bought a Groupon for this place, which I'm always kind of skeptical of doing I because for some reason businesses like to offer Groupons and then treat Groupon customers like they're substandard peasants. Anyway, after purchasing my Groupon I waited several weeks for a call back in response to two or three voice messages I left. When I did receive a response, the woman who called was incredibly apologetic and mentioned that the mis-communication (or total lack thereof) could be a result of their office using an alternative phone service (I believe she said Google Voice but can't be entirely sure...) Okay, fine, no harm, no foul, let's set this bad boy up so I can start feeling better! I set up an appointment for the next Saturday--and maybe that is why I was matched with Melissa Crago instead of Dr. Alan Davis, who my close friend is seen by and who she rants and raves about. (It could also be that Dr. Crago and not Life Chiro put the actual Groupon up, making me automatically her client.) I got there on Saturday and honestly just didn't feel like Dr. Crago was paying much attention when I was talking about my concerns. To make matters worse, the walls in the room where you receive the adjustment don't even go up to the ceiling, so while I was talking about some of my deepest and most secret ailments, I had to worry about Joe next door hearing all of my damn business and potentially running into him in the lobby and realizing he was my boss or reverend or someone else I don't need knowing my deets. (Wouldn't it make more sense to meet with patients in the consultation room since they're talking about privileged health information?!) The x-rays were quick and 13 minutes later I was in my car, hoping I'd feel a little better about the weird vibes after the actual adjustment at next week's appointment. Fast forward to this past weekend when I show up for my 10:15 appointment (I feel the need to include the time because I was out of there by 10:27. Is it just me or does it seem beyond ridic that an adjustment and discussion took place in 12 minutes?) and spoke with the totally adorable and sweet receptionist for a few minutes until Dr. Crago came out. She led me to a back room and pulls out this sheet of paper with numbers written on it, the first sheet on top of my file, before any medical notes or anything. With absolutely no casual talk, she gets straight to crunching those digits, making me feel like a dollar sign instead of a person with feelings and and a pervasive health challenge to confront. "Well, we can definitely totally improve your health," Dr. Crago began. It sounded totally ridiculous to me, that a doctor was making that much of a health claim. Maybe I'm being nitpicky and she was just making a general optimistic statement but the reality is that the reason I told her about my health concern is because it's not just a sore back or physical ailment and for her to hit me with such a general and vague claim made me feel like she wasn't even looking at her own notes and had simply poured out the script she's used to using on all her patients. Dr. Crago quoted me almost two thousand dollars for 8 sessions and then proceeded to blitz me with discount quotes and percentages. I felt totally overwhelmed and simultaneously underwhelmed by what I hoped would be a helpful experience. I slowly and calmly explained that while I was looking to see if a chiropractor might help me, I also have to be mindful of my actual budget and the rest of the health providers I have to see weekly. She responded with more percentages and discounts before providing one of those, "Yeah, I totally understand" head nods and leading me back from the consultation room to the room where my adjustment was performed. A few minutes and 4 cracks later and Dr. Crago encouraged me to, "Lay in that for a moment and I'll be right back." I thought maybe there was more coming but in about 4 minutes she came back and told me to think about the pricing and give her a call if I had any questions. Overall, Dr. Crago wasn't rude, she just didn't have good bedside mannerisms and didn't make me feel counted or considered as a patient. I felt like she was only half-listening or cognizant of my actual concerns and viewed me as just a paying customer instead of a patient. I spoke with my friend who is treated by Dr. Davis and she's informed me that his prices are a lot more reasonable (yeah, I know, there's no flat rate or all-encompassing price for medical or health services but when you're talking almost a quarter as much as I was quoted, I think it's worth a shot) and his bedside manner is a lot more caring and patient-focused. An introspective "hmm" is not a substitute for addressing a patient's concerns and a price list is not the first thing I want to see when having a consultation with a doctor. read more

I have had only positive experiences here since I started my sessions about 4 months ago. First of all Dr Melissa Crago is incredibly knowledgable, positive and easy going. It's a pleasure to talk to her and discuss physical issues and she has a great understanding of the body and how to reestablish alignment and balance. Second, the studio is super clean and the staff working with her is extremely polite, accommodating and pleasant in every interaction. I've been late to many appointments and it has never been a problem, they always accommodated my fast changing schedule and I never had to skip an appointment even when I was very late.
