The Shop used to be THEE PLACE to go when I was in high school for trendy, feminine blouses, dresses and accessories. I hadn't been back for seven-ish years until this past weekend when I stopped in with my friend. And truthfully not much has changed, but my perspective has. I'll start with the pros: I experienced excellent customer service. I was offered a glass of champagne upon entering the store. Rachel and (I can't remember the other girl's name) were super attentive, promptly taking the items we picked up into fitting rooms and going in the back to look for other sizes. There's a great variety of accessories to browse. Plenty of sale and last chance items to look at as well. Now for the cons: Parking is the worstttt (I went on a Saturday). There's a burger spot right across the street, so the limited street parking adjacent to the building could be occupied by those patrons (Perhaps on weekdays there are fewer patrons at the restaurant). There are a few spots in the back of the building which is where I ended up. I suppose you could park down the neighborhood street and walk. The selection was...underwhelming. I hate to compare businesses like this, but I frequent other boutiques with a similar target audience closer to downtown and their selections are much better. The prices feel out of touch to me, but that's not saying much. I don't like spending money. I found that the clothes weren't very size inclusive either. Would I go back? Sure. I picked up a cute blouse that was on sale and some distressed white denim shorts. You can definitely find things in there, but it wouldn't be my first stop. read more

I refuse to shop where the owner treats their employees poorly, especially in front of me on several different occasions. There is always a "Now Hiring" sign outside and I understand why. I used to love this store. However I recently purchased a dress that ripped the first time I wore it. Although they had a final sale policy, I feel like ripping on the first wear warrants a refund or at least store credit. I spent $60 on the dress and when I called to see if I could get any of my money back the store manager told me unfortunately no. She said that things she had purchased had ripped also and she couldn't get her money back either. Sounds like some pretty poor quality items here. I'm definitely disappointed in the customer service. If you know your items rip often why would you have a final sale policy sounds a bit dirty to me...Here's hoping this review gets them to reconsider their policies so customers don't feel ripped off. read more

Every time I go in there they are very professional, very helpful and have never been pushy. Sometimes they have suggested things that I didn't like but then one or two of them ended up being something I normally wouldn't of tried on and end up buying. Very professional. Cute, trendy and affordable. They don't carry many sizes of each item, so that can be kind of limiting. But the selection is fun and there are a lot of options of different styles. Good place to go for everything from dresses with a bit of sparkle for a night on the town to casual sundresses that could double as bathing suit cover ups. read more

I never review, but have to warn others about the return policy and customer service. I bought a really cute skirt. I took off the tag at home and realized it was ripped when I put it on. I took it back to the store, planning to exchange (didn't even want the money back!) and the cashier said it needed the tag and only had a 14 day window to return, despite the damage. She said I could try the manager, but would have to find time to come back because they weren't there. The skirt is unwearable and they've lost me as a customer with this substandard return policy. read more

A lovely and chic "shop" without having to hit the mall. Trendy and hip clothes and accessories with a fantastic price tag to match. I love the fact it's LOCAL and not a big old mall label. The store has a fantastic and not overbearing staff and are willing to help in any way possible should you want or need it. I really think this place needs to be discovered more. It's easy to pass on busy 4th street but the pretty building and hip striped awnings definitely let it stand out a bit. Shopping should be as much about have the customer leave with a smile as it is about having the customer leave with purchases. I left with both on my first - and certainly not my last - visit to this clothing and accessory boutique. I was not really looking for anything but just wanted to check out the clothes, purses, jewelry and other merchandise that make their window displays so enticing. I can not remember the last time I felt genuinely welcomed into a store. Typically those working in clothing stores are talking, but more to each other than to anyone entering. I think everyone in The Shop greeted me or offered to help. And it was done in such a pleasant way that it never felt pushy. They asked questions about styles appealed to me and whether I have any holiday parties that might require a new dress. They seemed to hone in on what I would respond to very quickly. Before I knew it, the dressing room held several outfits for me to try on. Some of the outfits that they selected, which I just casually looked at on the racks, were outstanding choices. And they offered ways to accessorize with jewelry and belts that gave me some great options for dressing up or down. The store has a nice mix of merchandise in terms of colors and styles. I suspect new items sell fast so checking back frequently would definitely help your odds of finding your size. The prices are really reasonable and the quality is such that I really thought I would feel a little sticker shock when I glanced at the price tag but I was delighted rather than dismayed. I am probably on the more mature side of their target demographic but they definitely did not make me feel out of place. In fact it seemed the age mix of women in the store that day I stopped by was not a narrow range. This was such a great introduction to The Shop that I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who likes fun, flattering, fashionable clothes and appreciates a store that has scouted out great finds for you to just try on, take home and enjoy. read more

What a great little boutique! Super cute, trendy clothes and accessories. The prices are really reasonable and they have a great selection. Not tons of sizes, but still a lot of great clothes to choose from. I'd say all the accessories are a major highlight. I bought these beautiful leather wrap bracelets, which feel very "one of a kind." The service is absolutely great. The entire staff was super friendly, attentive, and helpful. But not at all pushy. I used to really like shopping here because of the cute trendy clothes but I cannot go anymore because of how horrible the customer service is. They are aggressive and rude and treat you like garbage unless you are planning to shop for an entire new wardrobe. If something doesn't work out in the dressing room then they look at you like you are the problem. If you try to return something they treat you like a criminal. I still like the clothes (even though they are a bit overpriced) but I simply cannot shop here anymore because of how awful the people are. The owner especially. It feels like some pretty woman BS. Fun little shop with an ever-changing inventory! Their clothing is reasonably priced but I really love their selection of belts and other accessories. They not only have a lot to choose from, but the girls are always willing to help mix and Match, which is crucial for an under-accessorized like me. I really loved this store & haven't had an issue until this point. I bought a dress but when I went to put it on for an event it fell apart. The zipper broke and the pull fell off. I went to return it and they told me the only reason they didn't send me away is because the same dress in the store had an issue with the zipper too. They wouldn't give me store credit but told me they'll only send me a new version of the dress. Probably not going back again until they change their policy. read more

Fab local clothing store that's hip, affordable with a great customer service! I love to shop here because I can walk in and find an outfit for just about every occasion. The clothing is trendy and well-priced. You will find everything from tank tops and jeans to club attire here. No bathing suits. Vikki, the owner, keeps it fresh by constantly bringing in new and unique items. The only downside is because they tend not to re-order things you can't wait for anything to go on sale. If you like it buy it because it won't be there tomorrow (trust me I've had this happen more than once.) A nice bonus is the sales staff who will help you put together a great outfit and are constantly suggesting neat items for you to try on. My favorite indulgence is the jewelry selection. The Shop is as good as it gets. Where else can you find affordable, quality clothes that you love? I never leave The Shop empty handed. The staff is very helpful and the inventory is ever changing. There are sales too, so it is often easy to find awesome outfits even cheaper than the original price. I often mix my affordable Shop pieces with my higher end brands, and everyone assumes my outfit came from one of the high end shops. I have shopped here for years. Though recently the quality of what is there has gone down and prices have gone up. On top of it. Their return policy is horrible. 10 days have the holiday season is ridiculous. I had a friend buy me a gift and wasn't able to give it to me due to our busy schedules. We missed the return date and they would not even work with me for partial or store credit. It was never worn. Clearly taken care of with tags on. I love the clothing here! Employees are super helpful in assisting getting the perfect outfit together, accessories included! For someone like me who doesn't really enjoy shopping this is great! However, the owner is incredibly rude! She gives dirty looks to anyone who looks like they don't belong in her store. The owner has made me feel uncomfortable multiple times. I will not be coming back here ever again. Their staff is up in your face from the second you step in the door when a simple, "Hello can I help you find anything?" would suffice. They don't have mirrors ANYWHERE but behind the cash register. Not even at the jewelry! We were going to buy all the girls in my wedding party jewelry from this store and we couldn't even see how it looked in a mirror. I went to get out my phone to get a good look at it and thats when some older lady VERY rudely said, "store policy you can't take pictures in here". So we put down everything we were going to purchase and left. If we can't even see what things look like why would we buy more than $300 worth of jewelry from them? Terrible customer service. The place is an absolute gem! The most adorable clothes, very unique jewelry piece that make instant conversation starters when out, and the service here is phenomenal. The girls would bring out clothes they thought would look good with my body type, with suggestions for jewelry, accessories, shoes, what occasions to wear, etc. I have rarely seen such good service. First, let's be real here-I have a problem. It's called an overabundance of clothes, shoes, bags accessories...my gal pals go shopping in my closet and often times get to rock my cloths before I do. So, that being said (that was just for all of you who despise that phrase ;) I LOVE The Shop-the staff, selection, location (ladies El cap is next door...so send your man folk over there for a beer and shop )! The staff is attentive but not in an annoying way-not overbearing and so welcoming. Sometimes when I got to cute little boutique type stores, I get the feeling that I'm being judged for not showing up in a lovely outfit (when I shop, I shop-so I wear something that is easy to change clothes in...don't hate!) They will help you construct the perfect outfit for almost any occasion....brunch, meeting the parents, Opera...And the best part is-if something does not look good-they will tell you. This great little shop is clean, not too pricey and the inventory is constantly updating. My daughter purchases more here than I do but what I really love about it is that even a mom can find a trendy top or a pair of jeans and they're either on sale (great sale racks!) or not too expensive so trendy is OK! Colorful, on trend, sophisticated and fun. A variety of sizes and styles - but not plus. Accessories you don't see elsewhere including great purses and belts with details. The staff will help you pull an outfit together. Awesome dresses that you don't see anywhere else in Tampa Bay are usually $56-$100. AND when you buy your homecoming dress (my daughter's for homecoming) they write down what school you go to so 6 people don't show up in the same thing. Everything is always changing here and they only have a few of each item. The only negative I know of about this place is the lack of parking. We've even hit their $5 tent sales and purcahsed dresses, skirts and jeans for only $5! read more

The quality of the clothes are horrible, wash and dry them once and there will be rips in whatever you purchased. The staff is also very rude when it comes to returning things. I had a piece of clothing that was ripped when I purchased it and didn't notice and when I took it out of the bag that night realized and tried to return it the next day. They have a strict policy of not returning anything without the tag on so I made sure it was on before bringing it in. When I told one of the girls about it she looked at the dress and ripped the tag off, then proceeded to tell me that there was nothing she could do because the tag was ripped off! The owner, Vicky is a horrible, trashy person. I'm sure The Shop is a nice store, but myself and fellow employees all have boycotted it because of her. I work at a business nearby and when Vicky comes in she is extremely rude and nasty to us. She even threw a temper tantrum like a toddler one time when she didn't get her way. We all cringe when she walks through the door. Local businesses are supposed to support each other! It's sad that she thinks she is above us and doesn't need to give us respect. I have also heard from people who do actually shop there that if she is in the store, she is even rude to her customers and treats her own employees terribly. (Also, the clothes are trash. A shopper told me they fell apart after about 3 washes.) However, point being, I refuse to support the business of someone who is such a rash in the community!! HORRIBLE customer service!!!! My poor mother went in the store yesterday to buy me a sweater I saw on their FB photos. I would go in myself, but I now live in Oregon. My mom was going to ship it to me (support the local businesses from my hometown you know). When she got there, they had the sweater but in a different color, so I asked her to take a picture and send it to me. Well before she even asked my mother who she was sending the picture to, she was yelled at very quickly saying no pictures no pictures! My mom then told the woman why she was taking it and the woman replied with oh you should've told me and asked to take one. My response to that is No, she should have asked before yelling at my mom! News flash: Your merchandise pics are ALL over Facebook so if someone wanted to steal your marketing ideas, they could simply like your page! They do have some cute clothes and I have shopped there several times, mostly because I live in that part of town & it is so convenient, however there are now several boutiques that have opened nearby that I suspect will be competitors due to a few things that I imagine bother not only myself, but many others who have purchased clothing here. Firstly, like many small boutiques, the salespeople are very aggressive. It is not unusual for them to continue to approach you when you have already replied "just browsing" to their request to help you the second you enter the door. Also, some of their sales help is quite simply put, rude. In trying to (God forbid) return items, they treat you like you've broken some law. Also, their return policy is RIDICULOUS. You have exactly two weeks and I mean not a day over, to return something with a receipt....store credit given only!! In trying to buy something as a gift, I need to time my purchase to give the recipients time to return if necessary. Honestly, I want to tell them - you are not the only game in town now so you need to improve your customer service. read more
