Locals know this place is great. If you're traveling to Hattiesburg for any reason, like a…read moregraduation or baseball game or football game. This is the review for you. There are absolutely no shortages of places to eat in Hattiesburg. Some visiting might lean towards safe places with menu items they feel secure and safe with, and there's nothing wrong with that. But, if that's you you're missing out on some amazing food. Today I took my wife for mother's day as they had some special items on their menu, while also keeping their regular menu available. We started with their standard dumpling appetizer. We get it everytime we eat there and they're delicious every time. The meals we picked were the the kimchi cabanara and the shrimp and grits. Both on their special mother's day menu. Both were absolutely delicious with fresh ingrediants, balanced seasonings and amazing flavors. I'm Italian and grew up eating traditional family Sunday dinners but this bowl of pasta was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere of the place is very modern with a combination of traditional asian features mixed with some modern MTV inspired artwork. If you're into craft cocktails they got you covered as well. The only miss we had to day was our server never came back to take our dessert order, when we asked to order it he confused what we said for the bill and brought that instead. Not a deal breaker, we were actually too full for it anyway and we've had their desserts before. They always inventive and delicious. At the end of the day, one small service hiccup wasn't enough to overshadow what was an outstanding meal and experience. In a city packed with chain restaurants and predictable menus, places like this are what make Hattiesburg's food scene worth exploring. If you're willing to step outside your comfort zone a little, you'll be rewarded with creative dishes, quality ingredients, and flavors you'll still be thinking about on the drive home. We'll absolutely be back.

I came to Big Trouble excited for some ramen and left with a bowl that mostly tasted…read morelike...confusion. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Katsu Ramen, and unfortunately the "spicy" part must have taken the day off. The chicken katsu itself had less flavor than most fast-food chicken patties, which is a tough comparison to lose when you're floating in a $20 bowl of ramen. The broth seemed to rely almost entirely on the chili oil for personality, but instead of bringing heat, it mostly just gave the broth a slightly odd flavor. Not spicy, not rich--just kind of...there. Oddly enough, the noodles ended up being the most flavorful thing in the bowl (aside from the egg), which is not exactly the headline you want for ramen. Now the bright spot: my server, Eden. Absolute 5-star service. Friendly, attentive, and the kind of server that makes you feel welcome even when your meal is slowly disappointing you. If this review were based on service and ambiance alone, I would be handing out 5 stars. Honestly, I've had instant ramen packets that cost about $0.25 deliver more flavor. The only reason I finished most of bowl was because once you paid $20 for plain noodles, and gave up your only time to get food, there's a certain stubborn determination to see it through.

Here's what we ordered and thought he about it: Appetizer - French toast - toddler loved it but not size not worth the price - Meat pies- 4 tiny meat pies, flavor ok but not worth the price -duck quesadilla - I knew it was questionable with paired with jack cheese but I wanted to give it a try. It was a soggy greasy mess. But th sauce was good. Entrees - Chicken and waffles - decent flavor nothing fancy just decent - Kids Seafood crepe - the sauce was great, try crepes were a bit different but good the only thing missing was THE SEAFOOD. Yep, probably had two shrimp the whole crepe and they were cut in half. - Kida chicken tenders - waaaay too hard for kids to eat. The chicken tasted like charred burnt chicken. Like the third maybe 2nd batch of chicken in hot grease that cooks too fast on the outside so it is much darker, harder, and burned than the first batch. I asked for something else because after trying a piece of thr crust, I knew the kids couldn't eat that. The chef refused to take it back or replace INSTEAD he gave extra...like seriously if I feel they couldn't eat the first WHY I WOULD I WANT MORE. Overall, likely not to return. I saw two other tables call server over with issue. One of the deconstructed seafood pivot. Expensive and a waste of money. It was 3 towers of French bread with shrimp in a cream sauce. I saw the waitress tell the guy that it was filled with shrimp in the middle. Well, he opened his up and it was nothing but dry bread. He was visibly pissed. I'm glad I didn't order the full entree seafood crepes but I would have been upset with the amount of seafood which was shrimp only in it.

We got the half Italian and half Honey bbq. Sides were steamed broccoli and potato salad. The sides were ok but the standouts were definitely the sandwiches. I wasn't expecting them to be so good. I imagined they would be on par with Subway but nope, they came out so quickly and warm. The cheese on the honey bbq melted so beautifully and loveee the sweetness of it too. The sourness of the Dijon mustard coupled perfectly with the Italian meats. You may dine in but we got them to go to eat while on the road. The staff was patient with while we looked at the menu. It looks like if you sign up for rewards, you get a famous sweet tea! I don't get why they have negative reviews. This place definitely deserves 5 stars!

I telephoned the restaurant to ask what type of bread both sandwiches came on, first time the call dropped (right)? Called back to ask to speak to manager , I asked the same question. I was told the sandwiches come on ciabatta however, they were out of the ciabatta and substituted the bread. I indicated the bread looks like hot dog buns. I stated, wouldn't it be better if you informed the customer you were out of the bread and give them the option of canceling the order. She agreed, and apologized. However, I did not feel as if she was sorry for my inconvenience. This was my absolute last time to order from this McAllister. The sad part is that we don't have a lot of restaurants so why not be the best at what you do. Let's do better people.
