Great Location on Broadway in Saratoga Springs and they have beautifully unique clothing. They had a sidewalk sale when I walked by last Friday that caught my eye beautiful summer maxi dresses and other sharp pieces all for $15 that was a great mark down for beautiful items. The shoppe owner is rude and bullied my 15 year old niece for touching a dress she wanted to try on. She also yelled across the store to tell my niece to put her covered coffee down. She must be going through something to pick on someone younger than her. read more

We just purchased my daughter's Senior prom gown here and could not be happier. Hands down the BEST experience dress shopping I've had to date (I have 2 sisters, 2 daughters and a slew of cousins- we have alot of experience with formals) The selection alone was impressive. There seemed to be something for everybody, and each dress was stunning and elegant. In fact, instead of having the dilemma of "which one do I like", it was hard to choose b/c she loved them all. They are also super helpful there and seem to know what you're looking for without you needing to spell it out for them. This will definitely be our new go-to dress shop. read more

My daughter, her friend and my niece (ages between 15-17) walked into The Shoppe to shop for dresses for prom and were met with an unpleasant experience. They were told that they were not allowed to shop here without a parent present after being looked up and down and profiled on their appearance. They were told that it was too busy and to come back with a parent, which is odd because there was only one other girl in the store shopping. This is was extremely frustrating and upsetting especially because they had a dress my daughter was looking at and we will now be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Beyond frustrated with this store and can definitely say I will no longer buy from them due to their rule that you have to have a parent with you to buy a prom dress. The employee immediately shot down me and my friend who are both 18 and are more than capable of trying on dresses alone. They said it was due to weekends being busy but the store was not very busy at all. And the employees did not even ask if we intended to buy the dress our self or were going to buy one that day which we very well could have. I am from California and was in NY for a long weekend visiting a friend. We spent the day in town stopping in all the cute stores and The Shoppe was one she said a was must. She had been there many times and enjoyed all of her purchases. It was in fact a cute store and had what appears to be great products. I ended up spending almost $100.00 in total and was excited about my purchases. Two of the items I bought were unique leggings. One lined with fleece, the other with a "fur type" material. They were all marked as a One Size Fits All. Being 5' 9" and weighing 123 lbs, I feared the only issue, if any, would be the length, but I was ok with that. Worse case I would wear them with boots. Usually I would try things on but again, with my frame and one size fits all labeling, I opted not to. I got back to California 2 days later and tried them on. The fleece ones were fabulous. Extra long and very expandable. Definitely one size labeling. I moved on to the 'fur' lined ones and these were 100% the opposite side of the spectrum. They were either a one off mistake from the manufacturer or mislabeled and should have been put in the pre-teen section. I could barely pull them up past my lower thighs! They were tighter than a pair of nylons and sat just below my pelvis and the went no further down than my calf. It was a complete struggle just to get them on to that point. I was disappointed of course, but not angry. I figured I would call the store, explain my situation and even offer to pay shipping both directions if they would allow me to do a simple exchange. I called the store and spoke to a girl who at first seemed irritated that I even asked for a manager. She went on to tell me he wouldn't be in until the afternoon but would have him call me as soon as he got in. She said she didn't think it would be a problem, me returning them via mail and paying for them to ship me a different pair. Fast forward 2 weeks where I have now left 3 messages for the manager, and tried calling an additional 3 times just simply asking if he was there and opting to not leave messages those time. He has returned my call, therefore I am stuck with a product that I can't only not wear, but cannot think of anyone small enough to fit into them where I can gift them off to. I will say the store is cute and most of the merchandise seems to be good, but the customer service, I can safely say, sucks! read more

I grew up in Saratoga and have purchased a number of dresses from The Shoppe many times throughout the years. The negative reviews on Yelp were disappointing, although I can see the customers frustration with their return policy. Their clothes are unique and beautiful, and typically quite pricey. They carry many dresses for any occasions. Recently, I was shopping in downtown Saratoga with my mom and we happened past the store and began browsing through the sale racks out on the sidewalk. I found a beautiful LBD (little black dress) on a great sale and decided to try it on. The dress was just a little bit too big and I was hemming and hawing in front of the mirror, wondering whether it was worth buying and getting altered. The manager of the store (the owners son) is very friendly and said that he has a seamstress on staff and that she could come out and look at the dress for me. It look less than 10 minutes for her to come out and pin the dress. The next day she called and said that the dress was ready for me to pick up. The Shoppe is a wonderful example of a privately owned small business, and it has thrived in Saratoga for years and just opened a new store in downtown Troy. Ladies, If you are looking for a unique outfit for a special occasion, this is the place to go. read more

This small boutique is very cute. I'm a procrastinator, so in late April I still did not have a dress for my junior prom. We saw The Shoppe while visiting Saratoga Springs and decieded to pop in. The people were friendly and helpful, and I ended up leaving with a beautiful dress. Mine cost a little more than $300 ( on the lower end for the formal gowns in this store). All of the dresses, and the other clothes as well, are gorgeous. I did not have my dress tailored there, but I did speak with their seamstress who was very nice. On 7/7/14 at about 1:45p.m. while on my lunch hour from work, I purchased a dress at your Saratoga Springs store. When I got home and tried it on I found that it really just was not my style (although a beautiful dress). On 7/8 at 1:10 p.m. (less than 24 hours after my purchase) I tried to return it and was told that the store only gives store credit. As the salesgirl was the only person in the store at the time, she was kind enough to call the owner for me. She was told by the owner to tell me that the policy was store credit only. I guess my mistake was paying cash because had I paid by check, I could have stopped payment on the check and I am sure you would have accepted the dress back. I was told that the owner will be in the store tomorrow (7/9) and I will again attempt to take the dress back. This policy is outrageous. There is no way that you can tell me that within 24 hours a dress that has only been tried on once for a period of less than 5 minutes should not be returned in a normal, customer-friendly store. I hope that there is room to bend the rules on this. read more

I thought this store was very nice and the owner was very nice at first and he gave me a great deal on last years dress. I bought a dress there that had a rip on the outside of it, but he said he would fix it and call me when it was ready. Almost 10 weeks later I had still not received the call. Eventually I call the store and was told 3 times that I would be called back, finally on my 4th try I reached him. He was very rude and said I can't expect a call back immediately, no apology or anything. After my circumstances changed, I not longer needed the dress and was asking about the return policy (as I had not even picked it up yet) and he immediately gave me attitude and became very rude that he went over the top for me and I should be appreciative. I knew this not to be true as he was trying to sell last years dress while he still could. The dress was very expensive for me to never wear so my mom tried to call him about the refund, he immediately was rude to her and told her that we are never to shop there again aside from picking up the dress. I will NEVER be returning here and have never been treated so poorly in customer service in my life. read more

I recently shopped at the Shoppe in Troy on Broadway. I recently was shopping in Troy and excited to browse through the merchandise in your lovely store. I work nearby and thought this would be a great find to shop for different lovely things. I purchased a pretty blue sweater with black trim on the 50% off rack. I wore the sweater to work the following day and could not keep the collar sitting flat. It kept rolling under and drove me crazy and didn't look right. I tried to return it because it was clearly not made correctly. I found after speaking to the clerk that your return policy that is not told before you purchase product states there are no cash refunds just merchandise credit to the store. I was very dismayed and the clerk called someone to verify that I as a first time, good feeling gesture could I receive a cash refund. No. The clerk's attitude changed dramatically after the call and she became very curt and cold and stood by the fact that you've been in business for 40 years and that's your policy. I can see if I had been told the policy BEFORE purchasing and if it was clearly stated on the entrance, etc but feel I was taken advantage of. The clerk showed me behind where she was standing which was totally blocked while making the purchase that the policy is stated on a cabinet door behind the register. read more
