We went through some trials - the past owner jumped ship and did not inform the new owners of our event, but thankfully the new management was super helpful once we were able to get ahold of them and everything was smooth sailing after that! Eric came by our property to do a walk through and review all previously agreed upon details and ensure a smooth handoff. We were offered a free tasting to ensure everything was just right, and our menu and prices were honored by the new head chef! One awesome thing about this caterer is that they came by the day before to drop off all of their supplies so that minimized their unload time day-of. Brilliant! Chef Lance was super friendly and kind when exploring our setup. It's those details that keep people coming back! Day-of, everything went off without a hitch. The crew was setup in time according to our timeline, and the food was delicious! Our bartender that we hired through California Connection, Christine, was amazing. She introduced herself to me ahead of time and was just so friendly and chill all night - great qualities in a bartender! The catering team left behind all of the uneaten food which was awesome since we'd paid for it - and what we didn't eat we donated to a local homeless camp. Gourmet Deli doesn't even begin to explain how incredible California Connection is at their job.We were on a tight budget and needed to feed a lot of people. They pulled it off with the utmost attention to detail, service, and quality. They served our guests buffet-style, where we opted for their horseradish crusted salmon and citrus rosemary chicken. Basic wedding food, but it was delicious and the price was right. On a side note, California Connection even allowed us to get a temporary beer and wine permit and bring in our own alcohol. Their servers were licensed to serve and worked the bar. This alone saved us a ton of money -- plus we were able to serve local beer and wine. An arched sculpture by Herman Mejia first drew our attention. The shiny twisted stainless steel is called "Together" representing the unity theme of the Plaza. A second sphere shaped sculpture is interactive with lit images that change depending on Fieldhouse events. The dome resembles a basketball, of course. We watched kids doing gymnastic tumbles under the dome during our visit. The covered basketball court is opened to all and there were a few kids shooting hoops when we arrived late afternoon. (I'm told the court converts to an ice skating rink in the winter.) A magnificent mural by Chicago artist, Anna Murphy, features the faces of many of Indiana's iconic legends. A key below the mural tells the names of all the faces, but it was fun to try and identify as many people as we could without looking. There are tables and other seating around the pristine plaza. The plaza opened in 2023 and was partially funded by a grant frthe Lilly Foundation. I recommend a visit to the Plaza especially if you want to shoot a few hoops. It's a great spot to visit before an event and enjoy the beauty of the city. We found metered parking within a block of the Plaza.

Normal food stands are throughout the concourses with normal high prices. Bathrooms are great, big with lots of stalls. We had a friend in a wheelchair. People with disabilities have their own entrance once they get in. Ramps are used to go up or down like all stadiums have. Elevators are around, and they're slow. Look for signs. There is no where to hide a wheelchair as my friend could hobble to his seat. I found a hiding spot. A stadium we frequent has storage rooms or curtains to put them behind. An attendant helps us.

I had the salmon salad which included a grilled filet of salmon on a bed of greens with hard boiled egg wedges and tasty dressing on the side. It came with a roll and chocolate chip cookie. All was fresh and tasty. Colleagues also said the tenderloin salad was excellent as were the grilled vegetable and club sandwiches. They delivered everything to the location of the event and also provided some rental cocktail tables for our outdoor venue. We're used them in the pre-Covid times as well, and they have also done a great job with hot and cold heavy appetizer type foods. I look forward to being able to have shared foods at events again in the future, but for now, they do make great boxed meals!

MORRIS-BUTLER HOUSE IS A HISTORIC LANDMARK IN INDIANAPOLIS…read more======================================================== John Morris commissioned the construction of this home in 1864. His family lived there until 1878 when Noble Butler purchased the home. The Butler's lived there until 1957. Indiana Landmarks recued the deteriorated home in 1964 and they home was restored. Eli Lily, is a founder of the Indiana Landmarks Foundation of Indiana. It was opened as a museum in 1969. The restoration of the Morris-Butler House is in the historic Old Northside. It appears that it's undergoing another renovation right now in 2025 as you can see be all the scaffolding in my photo. The space can be rented for weddings, luncheons, teas, dinners, lectures and meetings.

Just a little history - the house takes its name from two families who lived there in the 19th century. This Civil War era house was commissioned in 1864 by John Morris on land once owned by Butler University founder Ovid Butler. The Morris-Butler House in Indianapolis takes its name from two families who lived there in the nineteenth century. In 1864, John Morris commissioned the construction of his home on land once owned by Ovid Butler, the founder of Butler University. While this neighborhood has seen its better days, at the time this was a new suburb and one of Indy's most prestigious areas. The Morris family stayed until 1878. Three years later, bankruptcy lawyer Noble butler moved in with his wife and seven children. They were in the home until Florence Butler (the youngest daughter) died in 1957. By this time, the neighborhood was heading downhill - Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana (now Indiana Landmarks) rescued the home with an assist by Eli Lilly himself (Lilly was a founder of Indiana Landmarks). The home opened as a museum in 1969. Saving the home also helped save Central Avenue United Methodist Church - now the home of Indiana Landmarks. The home is more an event space now than a museum, though it does retain many historic furnishings. Much of the first floor is, somewhat surprisingly, wheelchair friendly thanks to an "elevette" from a private parking court. The home is built in the Second Empire Style. It is a beautiful setting for small weddings (think no more than 40). receptions, dinners, special events, etc. On the first floor, you can rent the formal parlor, dining room, and library - all three of these are wheelchair accessible. I don't think other areas would be considered accessible, though that's to be expected with a historic home (so I'm not docking my usual star for lack of access - I feel like Indiana Landmarks does the best it can and goes above and beyond). As a wheelchair user, I'm always a bit frustrated in historic settings - and yet, I love historic settings. I'm grateful I finally got the chance to check out the Morris-Butler House.
