First, the obvious accolades: This enormous, modern-ish facility offers plenty of the communal goods it was rebuilt to offer. Senior citizens own mornings and early afternoons, and men of all ages crowd the basketball courts later in the day -- when we're not in the midst of a pandemic, that is. There's a game room, lots of meeting rooms, and a good exercise room... which is where they can do better. When our oldest was 16 years of age, she attempted to use the exercise equipment and was told the policy was 18+. The Duranes neighborhood, nearly every block, is classic old Albuquerque planning: very agrarian, incredibly narrow streets, and no sidewalks. Running and even walking anywhere is dangerous. This Community Center offers an exception to that rule, and it should expand its age restrictions.

Naturally when I purchased my personal computer I selected a laptop that used the same operating system. It was after I moved back to New York I needed a new laptop and I switched to all Apple Products. I'm not as comfortable with the enormous amount of options these days on my devices. I do have fond memories of enjoying Microsoft Word and the other features. Would I go back to Microsoft? No....I've put too much effort into learning the Apple Life at this point. You're sure to find all kinds of old Route 66 memorabilia, or stuff made by local artisans. It's all small local businesses, there are no chains around here as far as I know. You're sure to find some cool foreign grub, a nice tattoo parlor, or a kitschy gift shop that focuses on Abq pride. Parking can be challenging- keep an eye out for private lots or the back streets off of Central Ave.

Route 66 was the first transcontinental roadway that took you through Albuquerque on the way from Chicago to California. Be sure to take in the old motor court motels. They look like they're straight from the Reservation sometimes, but covered in bright paint and neon. The old retro signs are a trip along here! All the cool stuff in town is along this roadway somewhere. You get to see an interesting cross section of New Mexico life- from the infamous bum-filled intersections at San Mateo to Nob Hill, a cool retro arts district. It'll take you by UNM, through downtown and over the Rio Grande! It's like a trip through time. It goes on for 2000 miles, but the retro section is best seen along Central in ABQ. We enjoyed earning the GS Route 66 patch, and if you know a GS, I encourage you to complete this patch with that GS and her Troop. This may take you to places like the Pre-1937 Historic Route 66 because one of the options is to learn about the El Camino Real [ http://www.newmexico.org/el-camino-trail/ ]. The El Camino Real sometimes overlaps the Pre-1937 Historic Route 66. While you are on the Pre-1937 Historic Route 66 [ http://www.nps.gov/history/rt66/HistSig/New%20Mexico.htm ], you get to pass by other historic landmarks and buildings. One of those is the Old Armjio School [ http://www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=45221 ] that I see regularly, but I have never actually visited this school (yet). If you don't feel like visiting historic markers, the Pre-1937 Historic Route has different businesses along its way. I have been to some of those businesses, but I would like to visit more when I get the chance -- especially the Mom-&-Pop joints. The drive itself is a fun way to pass time, so you actually do not have to stop anywhere along the way if you do not want to. When you preoccupy yourself with driving on these sort of routes, you really should be a Sunday driver and take in as much of the surroundings as possible.

Yes, I'm over 50+ and you'll see me in here very, very often so yall better be ready to have some fun when up I'm there!
