There are not a lot of electrolysis places to choose from in Anchorage. I had found great reviews…read moreon this place and tried it out for the course of almost a year to a year. It's done out of a townhouse in a residential neighborhood. I do not know if Sue owns both sides, I never asked. I went here about once a month, maybe a little longer in between visits as I was told just come when I can after asking frequency. I now know with my new electrolysis person that you should be coming every 2-3 weeks to get the job done and to keep up with hair growth during active cycles. When you enter there is typically classical music playing and a couch for you to sit on and wait. If she is with someone upstairs she will come get you when she's done. It did seem odd it was out of a house, but there are a lot of home businesses. It did not seem unclean to me. Upstairs you go in a room and it looks like a lawn chair covered in blankets and a towel. I felt a little odd about this, but still proceeded since I was so desperate for hair removal. On my first consult Sue did let me feel what it was like just so I got an idea. That was nice, since it was an unknown. She was always friendly and chatty with me, which was nice. My only complaint was she would drink coffee during the sessions so I had to deal with coffee breath. I now know that you should let the hair grow 4-6 days before electrolysis to actually see the root and how the probe needs to go in. With Sue I would just let it grow for a day and go and I don't know if that was the problem or not, but she never said anything about it. I felt the probe go in, but then it felt like she was plucking them out. A properly treated follicle should just have the hair slide out and no tugging from plucking. All in all I never saw results. The plus was she was friendly, the cheapest in town, open Saturday and always could squeeze you in, but I just didn't have results.

I have had a great experience going to Alaska Skin Care. After just a couple of treatments (facials…read moreand peel) I was getting compliments on how I was looking younger! The esthetician is very knowledgeable and taught me what I needed to do at home to help keep my skin in tip top shape and she uses products that work! I did not experience any of the negative things the previous poster stated. Her rooms were spotless and neat. I felt VERY comfortable there.

I made an appointment for an eyelash lift & tint, eyebrow tint, and lip wax. When I arrived I…read moreoverheard a conversation between the owner and technician that made me feel uncomfortable with getting these services done. It sounded like they were using some expired product or something along those lines, and that this person who was to do my eyelashes was inexperienced. When I tried to tell the technician I changed my mind about the appointment, the owner came out and convinced me to go through even though I wanted to cancel. That was a big mistake. She ended up performing the eyelash lift without asking if I had any contacts in, which I did, and I ended up getting a chemical burn on my eye balls and had a severe allergic reaction to the products used. When the technician was doing the eye brow wax she also kept going over the same spots over and over again which was very painful. She almost didn't even do the lip wax that I paid for, and I had to remind her. I ended up needing to go to urgent care 2 times and luckily my vision was not affected although I had a blood vessel burst in my eye which filled my eyeball with blood and had scabby painful eyebrows for the next 2-3 weeks. Terrible terrible experience. At least the owner refunded my money, but I would recommend going somewhere else.

This was the WORST office visit I have ever had. I don't even want to rate 1 star. First and…read moreforemost starting with the unprofessional staff from talking to them over the phone to being there in person but I still gave them a chance ( I should have known better). I came in 10 min prior to my appointment, I stood at the front desk for a couple minutes without anyone acknowledging me, the front desk girl was on her cell phone and there were a couple ladies in the back just chatting. Finally the girl looks up and notices me and has me fill out paperwork. I was taken back to a room 30 min after my appointment was scheduled, I sat in there for another 10 min until the doctor finally came in. He came into my room without acknowledging me, he didn't introduce himself not even a simple hello. He and the nurse went into a corner and started writing stuff down, he came and glanced at my lashes for a couple seconds ,then he says that he is going to prescribe me cream for my face, he never even looked at my skin which was the main reason I went there for. I had a lot of dry patches on my face that happened out of no where and I wanted to know if it could be just dry skin or possible eczema, he didn't ask me about the products I'm currently using he didn't ask when the dryness occurred basically normal questions a doctor would ask someone. The visit with the doctor lasted a whole 5 min he left the room without saying nice to see you or thanks for coming he just leaves the room. I go to check out and the "prescribed cream" is a white jar that looks like they bought some whole sale lotion and packed it in their own jar with a tacky sticker on it that cost $25.00, cetaphil works way better for half the cost. They wasted my time and money for services I really didn't get. If you want a doctor to actually speak with you about the concerns you have I would not recommend this doctor. I wanted to add one last thing. I did call the office manager the next day to tell her of the bad experience I had because this visit was certainly not worth my $300 +, I spoke with one lady she basically called me a liar, and then a different office manager called me back which I explained again my issues with the visit, then the doctor gets on the phone and has the nerve to argue with me and try and tell me that he did tell me what was going on with the issues I had, he was basically insinuating that I was lying. Never have I dealt with a doctor who is utterly unprofessional and rude. It took me two office workers and and argument with the doctor to basically rectify the situation. I just want to say that I don't mind paying $300 + for a visit if I'm actually getting the care I came for. I work at a hospital and I have never seen a doctor act the way he did absolutely unprofessional.Clearly this doctor is only worried about money and not the patients themselves.
