When scheduling for my check up 6 month later, does anyone really know what time and day they'll be available in six months. Well of course we schedule anyways and then two months before hand I see if I can change it. The lady says they're booked out till August. So if I cancel my March appointment, it will be a full year before I'm seen again. I think this is common in Anchorage. We don't have enough dentist that they're booked out a whole year? The lady couldn't really help me and I didn't wanna cancel so I just left it. I have to remember to call them if I can't go so I don't get charged $50. Seems a little ridiculous. The dentist also had a tremor when he was doing my filling. I don't know if that's an everyday thing or what, but I was a little nervous.

I've been coming to Huffman Family Dentistry for a while and have enjoyed my experience over time…read morebut most recently, one of the receptionist, Patty, was very short and rude. Called me the day prior to confirm my appointment and I recall our conversation juggling between the idea of putting me on a short list and pushing me out to May 2026 or me potentially making the appointment if i could make it work. Towards the end of our conversation, Patty hung up on me and I was left with the assumption that I was being rescheduled to May 2026 and placed on a short list. The next day, I received a call from Patty asking if I was going to make my appointment. Confused by the call because I was under the impression that I was being rescheduled to May 2026 and didn't get any clarity on the appointment because i was hung up on. Even when trying to make the appointment that Patty said i was still able to make, I wasn't able to be seen and was charged a $50 dollar fee due to a misunderstanding. Several times during my interaction with Patty i said, "I really think this is a misunderstanding" but she unprofessionally would say, "I don't think so" or "the last thing you said is you'd be here". But again, because I was hung up on, I was unsure of what the agreement was. The last thing I recall was I was being rescheduled to May. Customers aren't always right, but they should always feel heard. I wasn't trying to make an excuse, I simply was trying to explain my side of the misunderstanding but I was dismissed. Again, the staff here is always great and this was my first time interacting with Patty. Just wasn't the best experience compared to my prior visits to Huffman Family Dentistry.

A special thank you goes to Katylyn L. for this review and for referring me to this dental office…read more She told me the office was offering gift cards to either the Moose's Tooth or Massage Envy for any new clients that walk in. I have to admit I've never been eager to go to the dental office even if it's just for a cleaning. It was time to see them especially since I had some mild nerve pain in one of my lower teeth and the fact that I haven't been to the dentist's office since 2003 (However, I brush my teeth on a regular basis and I don't smoke so that can be a good excuse for being away for so long). This office is located in a small two-story office building next to Major Marine Tours and across the street from the Carrs shopping center. I came in to the reception area and Michelle gave me a friendly greeting upon entering. I had to take a few minutes to fill out the new client paperwork before starting my dental check-up. The seating area is small and cozy with a TV set along with several magazines and children's books to pass the time while waiting. If you have insurance like Denali Care, they gladly accept this. My card covered the entire cost of the visit which was $231.00. Another good reason to make your dental appointments here. Drs. Andrew Newman and Jennifer Driggs were very friendly and professional upon meeting them for the first time. They addressed all of my concerns regarding questions on my nerve pain and tooth conditions. Dr. Driggs did an outstanding job with the dental cleaning and now I can show off my goofy grin wherever I go. Nichole at the front desk was also very friendly and helpful in setting up my next appointment. Great location in a decent part of town, friendly staff, and definitely recommend to fellow Yelpers for exceptional work. Oh, and don't forget to take advantage of the free gift card!

Glad I got a second opinion who confirmed the procedure was not medically necessary. I wonder if they are pushing these procedures to make more money. Personally, my teeth are NOT something I will take a chance with. It just felt shady and I did not trust the dentist. I also read a few horror stories about this place, so I likely will not be returning. I gave an extra star as the employees working the front desk are super friendly.

I've been going to Mint Dental since 2018 and it's been a consistent experience overall. The front…read moredesk is easy to work with, especially for scheduling and insurance questions. I had my wisdom teeth removed here and the healing was quicker than I expected. I've also seen a few different providers and everyone has been kind and informative. They're good about explaining things--I've picked up better flossing habits over time. Cleanings are straightforward, fluoride is quick, and the view during appointments is a nice bonus. This office has been a really reliable place for dental care which is why I've stayed with them for so long.

The office was nice, the people were nice, the scheduling was very flexible, so when I finally became insured, I knew my teeth weren't in good shape, but I made an appointment to start what was sure to be a long dental journey. Boy was I wrong. The first thing was the cleanliness, or lack of. The chair/area I was seated in, was VERY dirty. The overhead light was completely covered with, IDK what you call it, when you floss and flecks of debris fly out of your mouth and hit the mirror, I am sure it has an official name, but whatever it is called, the light looked like it hadn't been wiped or washed in quite a long time. But then the hygienist kept touching the light to move it around, then kept putting her fingers in my mouth, to take an X-ray. And I know it must be a real pain to change gloves constantly, but you cannot go into the other room, use the computer and the keyboard, adjust the light, and touch God knows what else, and then put your fingers in my mouth. I was horrified and kept thinking to myself, this cannot be normal. The worst part, and the reason for the tears, was that I had been looking forward to going to the dentist for awhile. I had a few problems with different teeth, I definitely needed a cleaning, and I had very recently lost one of my front teeth in an accident, so I was very eager to make a plan for that. When the dentist came into the room, after looking at my X-rays, I was told that all they could and would do, is pull all of my teeth and give me dentures. I was in no way prepared to hear this news, and it very much devastated me. I asked about fixing the one missing tooth, and was told insurance wouldn't pay for it, since apparently dentures seemed to be my only option. But if I wanted to pay for it myself, I was quoted $1400. And that was it. No cleaning? Nope, not going to waste time cleaning your teeth when we are just going to rip them all out. Sadly, my experience was not at all was I had expected. My husband still goes, and has no problem. But me and my teeth have moved on to a place that let me keep my teeth.
