Here why (with details below): He OWNS the work and takes full responsibility for everything and fixes every mishap BEFORE you even ask; His primary subs (carpentry, electrical, flooring, trim) are all GREAT; he's one of the easiest, kindest, and most compassionate people I've worked with; and he knew when to tell me when an idea or suggestion I had was infeasible or too expensive. More deets: On OWNERSHIP and RESPONSIBILITY - Our shower glass walls were a little short. I didn't even know enough to know this was a solvable problem, but he made the third-party glass company take the segments back and replace them with segments that fit even more perfectly and beautifully. There we a couple of other instance and there was never accountability squirm.... Honestly that's unlike 95% of contractors. ADVICE - If the lighting wasn't going to work or look nice, he told you. If the switches we're in the wrong place in the blueprint, he told you. If a door or opening would have been better served with a pocket door instead of a swinging door, like into a bedroom closet, he told you. He told you nicely, politely, never insinuating that I did not know what I was doing or that the architect was bad or wrong. He'd just politely and slowly walk me through a few different scenarios and the real life placement of things and was 100% right in all of his corrective suggestions. The one time I did not listen to him and thought I knew better, after a few months I realized I was completely wrong. MAIN SUBS - Whenever his subs were scheduled to show up, they did, on time, always clean-cut and professional, smiling, and happy. They cleaned up EVERY DAY. Other previous contractors thought nothing of leaving trash on the floor or even dangerous nails when I had small children in the house. I think he is one of, if not, the BEST IN THE BUSINESS and I plan on doing more with him in the future.

The kitchen required removing a wall to open up the closed dark kitchen and adding an oversized bar. Eric was extremely timely and professional in getting us a comprehensive quote. He was also extremely affordable as well. He started work right away and did a phenomenal job. We gave him pictures of what we wanted for the kitchen and fireplace, and he replicated the style to a T - which most contractors can't do without a designer helping them. He also was able to design and order custom cabinets for our pantry. Eric was extremely detail oriented throughout the process, checking in with us as needed for style and safety decisions, and always updated us on cost or possible delays. He also was insanely knowledgable about every area of construction such as dry wall, plumbing, electrical, fabrication, flooring, tiling, etc. This guy really is a one man show - he can do it all. Eric did have a few subcontractors help him with the job and they were always fantastic to work with as well. He knows quality workmanship and partnership. He finished the job in a timely timeframe and our home is gorgeous and the workmanship is quality - for a great price. If you need any renovations done, Eric with E.L. Construction is the way to go. Every day they were on site they kept the work area clean and protected the walk ways they'd be using throughout the home. They always let us know when they'd be back next; they were always on time. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive however, I went with them because they were the only company that made it clear that in some cases they may choose to not do business with a customer. Excellent experience with the Sky Light Guys. Prompt, professional, competitive price, quality work and very pleasant people to work with (Kris and Chris). Due to an improper install of a skylight by the previous homeowner we had water leaking into and draining down our ceiling. After inspecting Chris provided a detailed assessment of the situation along with the available options - he was extremely nice and well informed. The inspection occurred on a Friday therefore my estimate was available first thing Monday morning. After reviewing I contacted the office and set up the repair. Day-of Chris showed up and immediately got down to work: pulled back tile, removed old window, reframed, reset window, re-sealed, add new flashing, installed protective membrane, etc. After the fix was complete Chris had me climb up on the roof to give me a complete review of the work done...again, Chris was very detailed and showed great ownership in his work. After Chris cleaned up he handed me the final bill which, to my pleasant surprise, came in below the original estimate. Quality work, personable and attentive employees, timely service, at a very fair price. I would highly recommend using the Sky Light Guys. read more

I called the Skylight Guy on 06/29/2016 at 9:30am and he told me that the installer would call me that morning to set up an appointment foe an installation of new Skylights. After never hearing from this person I call Chris back at around 1:20pm and he stated that the contractor was on a job and that he would get to me on the next morning. Well that's not what I was told. Here I am typing this complaint and still haven't heard from Chris nor the Contractor it's 12:40pm I don't know maybe he doesn't serve Hebrews or people of color or this guy and these comments of superior customer service are liars read more

From ordering to install, Skylight Guy did a GREAT job! Eric did a FANTASTIC job of installing al three tubular skylights quickly and with very little mess. He showed up for the job not only on time, but a few minutes EARLY! He had a very hot job to do and did so with a good attitude and very professionally. When I called to ask for an estimate and install date I was given a date just over a week out (these guys are busy). I was pleased with the entire process and would recommend Skylight Guy to neighbors (and in fact already have). Thanks Skylight Guy for brightening up my home! read more

This claim was never mentioned at any point during the project. In fact, Matt never once came on-site to assess our home, quote the job, or oversee the work. The idea that our home had structural issues was only brought up after we expressed how unhappy we were with the final result and repeated failed repairs. Instead of taking accountability, they chose to intimidate us -- a young family with babies -- simply for speaking out about our experience. That behavior is beyond unprofessional and incredibly unsettling. No one should feel threatened by a contractor they've let into their home, especially during a vulnerable time (I was in my third trimester of pregnancy and then home with a newborn during all of this). This company does not stand by their work, they do not communicate honestly, and they clearly do not care about their customers. Avoid Matt Stanczak's company at all costs.
