This is the typical small town older but clean location. It smells really good from outside. They have a decent menu with decent prices. The staff was friendly and provided fast service. I would have selected zero stars if that was an option. The first thing amiss was that it was after five and not one car was in the lot and inside there was no one else. It took awhile to get the attention of the young man at the counter and he was not very knowledgeable about the offerings. The menu board had no prices and they didn't have any menus at the tables and just one menu at the counter again all the prices were blacked out. He said it's been that way for a few weeks... My wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and I ordered a two plate combo with fries and baked beans. My wife said her pulled pork was mediocre and the Mac & cheese was bland and tasteless. My ribs (3) were overcooked, mostly fat and hardly any edible meat. What meat there was was stringy and almost like jerky. The pulled pork was mushy and the portion size was skimpy at best. The fries (hardly any) were overcooked. By mistake they brought coleslaw instead of beans but they rectified it and brought me some beans. The beans tasted like they had been cooking for over a week. Blech. The mis-delivered coleslaw was nothing but shredded cabbage. Very plain and bland. Gross. The Mug Rootbeer however, was superb. But for almost $40 I expected a lot, lot better. My experience wasn't what I expected it to be. The place is clean and the service was good. The food threw me off a bit. I ordered a 3 meat with ribs, brisket and sausage. I don't know if it's because it's easier to heat or because they only has plastic forks for utensils, but my sausage was cut into little pieces like you might find for breakfast and the brisket was chopped up. The ribs were alright, the brisket was ok, and the sausage was fine. Nothing was spicy and the food was pretty forgettable. No impression swaying me to really like it or not. My sides were potato salad and baked beans. The beans were probably what I enjoyed most. The potato salad was definitely made in house which I appreciate. My experience wasn't bad, I think I'd have just enjoyed it and my food more if I had utensils and my food wasn't cut up toddler style. read more

We ordered two different two meat plates so we could try alittle of everything (being our first time there) After we sat down we were told they didn't have one of the meats. We picked and different one even tho we were disappointed (they just open 5mins before) when we got our food it was wrong and cold. Hit this place up as a spontaneous choice on our way to camping. The wife and I shared the 3 meat plate. Chopped brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken (they were out of wings) with sides of coleslaw and potato salad. Meats were good. The pork and chicken each had different sauces but both were quite sweet. The chopped brisket was excellent. The slaw was fairly basic, but when paired with the pork it was delicious (I cannot remember life before the pulled-pork/coleslaw flavor combination). First off this is my first bad review. I always try and find the positives of where I eat. With that said part of it lays on me. When I walked into a BBQ restaurant on a Tuesday night at 5:30pm in a blue collar town and I am the ONLY ONE in the restaurant that speaks for itself. I ordered 1/2 rack of ribs that were way to fatty. Potatoes salad the potatoes were undercooked. The baked beans were waaayyy to sweet. And lastly the pulled pork meat was just bad. I hope it was just a bad batch of meet because of that is on the cook? That was uneatable. Secret all the meat is reheated. The meat is all smoked no more than once a week and then put into a walk-in freezer and reheated to be used anywhere from one to two weeks. The coleslaw is only cabbage, vinegar, mayo and sugar. You will be overcharged for the amount of food you will receive. This place is a disgrace. Go anywhere else. read more

My wife and I moved a few blocks away from the sloppy pig less than a year ago. I first ordered a pound of brisket to use in lettuce wraps. That was pretty good as long as there was ample sauce for a lettuce wrap. Unfortunately, even a couple of days ago, we find the ribs coming such that they look a week old, I don't wanna break a tooth because they are old dried and hard...not the first time. Sloppy is accurate..BBQ it is not. Excited to try a local favorite while we were visiting from out of town on a Friday night. Heads up. If you are not a local, know that you'll be treated poorly. We waited over an hour from the time we ordered until we received our food. When we did, it was cold...except for the brisket which had been reheated until crispy on a skillet like carnitas. That alone is BBQ blasphemy! Mac and Cheese that everyone raved about was basically noodles in a greasy oil with no cheese. "Frycho" consisted of burnt waffle fries that somehow came out cold also with brisket carnitas on top. I'll save you the $50 insult to BBQ everywhere and encourage you to skip it...you'd be better off down the street at the Arby's or KFC. read more

I ordered the 2 meat platter and selected brisket and sausage. What I got was a kid's meal portion of what should not be called bbq. The pulled pork was chopped which usually means flavor, not here. The sausage is precooked and so salty it is hard to finish. I am a grown man let me cut my own sausage. If you want the recipe for coleslaw it is probably cabbage, miracle whip and sugar, lots of sugar. No carrots or anything to give it flavor. Wow! All I can say is wow. We went to the recently opened Sloppy Pig on main street in Vernal. Great staff interaction right off the bat. The owner, Jerry, brought out some samples since I was having a hard time deciding what to eat. From the first taste of pulled pork, brisket and ribs, to the last bite of cheesecake, with slaw and the best cornbread I have ever eaten in between, it was amazing. I will be finding more excuses to make the drive from Utah County to Vernal, just in time for dinner. I suspect I will dream about the ribs till then. read more

We should have went somewhere else when they were out of most meat choices at the start of dinner time on a Saturday. We got the last order of ribs that were dry and tougher than jerky. Was told they ran out of brisket after we had ordered so we swapped for pulled pork, which was refrigerator cold in parts and lukewarm in the rest. We told the kid (maybe 14 yrs old) that the ribs were not edible and he said sorry and told someone in the back, but never came back to make anything right. Very poor service and quality of food. Ordered 6 smoked Turkeys and all the sides for a last minute meal to feed our crews working through thanksgiving, to be smoked 2 days before I needed them.
