I think we all know what to expect at JB's....which is part of it's charm. We like consistency and knowing what we are getting in to. This location provided the standard breakfast experience that I anticipated when I was visiting town recently. Service was fine-nothing outstanding or memorable. The food was also good. Well based on past reviews I went in with a low expectations, I was pleasantly surprised at the food and fantastic service I got today. I was greeted within 30 seconds of entering the restaurant and seated directly after that. Shauntea was our server and she was attentive and took my order for over easy eggs without a problem. (They have eggs, toast and pancakes to order on the buffet). The buffet had ample portions of basic breakfast fare such as biscuits, gravy, French toast, sausage, etc. My husband like the corned beef hash. He says this is half the price of a Cracker Barrel and twice as good. read more

Wife and I stopped in for a late night dinner... Since neither of us ordered an entree, this probably isn't the most comprehensive review that I've written. We both opted for the salad bar, which was good for what it is. Ya know the one: iceberg lettuce with a good selection of veggies. Soup was good. Taco bar was nice - did a taco and some nacho action. Honestly the food was ok. Got the chicken fried steak breakfast off the 55+ menu. Country potatoes were burnt. After the food was brought out and we were half way done, all of a sudden there was a swarm of flies everywhere and at other tables. Then got the bill, I was not charged for 55+ (it was $8 something) I was charged $11 something. When I told the cashier she asked if I ate it all?? What does that have anything to do with it? She said the best she could do is give me the senior discount which barely took anything off. I said I don't think so. Then she asked again "did you eat it all?" what in the hell does that have to do with anything??? Took a little but finally was charged the correct amount. Much better options in town. Food is mediocre at best and the salad bar is iceberg with few veggie options. The exterior of the restaurant is well maintained but the inside is horrible. The booths are extremely uncomfortable with some holes in the vinyl and the carpet is just gross. If this is what the dining room looks like I can only imagine the kitchen. Went to JB's this morning. To pick up a oder to go. When I got there, the oder was wrong. So they went back to fix it. It came back a second time wrong. The third time it came back the oder was right, but not all the food was there. I finally gave up and said I wanted my money back, they refused. End of story, they kept the food and the money. Last weekend I had similar issue, except they gave my order to someone else. I waited for 45 min before I ended up walking out, also never got my food. I would strongly suggest avoiding this place. All of the food is very bland and mediocre. The salad is simple and everywhere is very dirty and the table looked like it didn't get wiped down. The carpets are filthy. The vinyl booths are very worn and torn. Ordered the chicken fried steak special. Nothing special there. Was not a fresh piece of beef. The mashed potatoes were rather hard and the gravy was very salty. The only thing that was the saving grace was the hostess. She is a gorgeous, blonde honey and was so friendly. JB's has been in business for years and knows what it wants to do; however, the menu is something it is not doing very well. It's a family place that tries to be a lot to many people, and the people are very friendly and efficient, but the menu is all over the place. The breakfast buffet is eclectic and uneven as though JB's expects visitors from Milan or Istanbul or Paris or NY City to visit with expectations of something they'd find at home. If you go for breakfast skip the buffet and order simple--"two eggs over and ham or bacon (crisp), toast". Don't expect a miracle of cuisine from food that's been poorly prepared by well meaning people and then left to "refry" on the warming table. JB's would do well to keep it simple with that delightful Utah home cooking...mmm-mm-m...and people will adjust. Consider this--would a visitor from Milan appreciate "Utah home cooked ham and eggs, country potatoes with or without country gravy and toast served with home made raspberry jam" or JB's version of "pasta" or perhaps a mystic pizza? read more

I have been back here four times since the pandemic has allowed restaurants to reopen. I had been a steady customer since I moved out here from Northern California. The staff is friendly and efficient however on my last four visits my request to have my hash browns cooked soft meaning not crispy has been cooked correctly only once. Prior to the pandemic I always requested to be seated in Cassie's section because she made sure the hash browns were prepared correctly. The one time they were prepared correctly was when Cassie was my server. The other three times it was nothing more than a pile of cold raw shredded potatoes. The eggs are prepared exactly as ordered the toast is delicious however the cold raw potatoes ruins the breakfast. Obviously the cooks and the servers other than Cassie do not understand what hash browns cooked soft means. The response when I point this out is oh well other than this morning when she offered to replace them after I had almost finished my meal. Not sure if I will have breakfast here again unless Cassie is working. read more

Great family restaurant, a variety of foods. I have actually been here many times over the last 10 years; it's a good "middle" option when there are different food preferences in the group. The service is usually (9 times out of 10) very good. Sometimes they are slow, that is usually during a meal rush time. Just add on the buffet and you can wait it out. The prices are acceptable, not overpriced for a local eatery. Decent variety on the kid's menu too. I have eaten here with gluten free relatives; they request sandwiches, etc. without the bread: no problem, and no reaction yet. I am allergic to shellfish, and they serve shrimp; no reaction yet on my part either. In short, they continue to have my family's business. read more

Went here in search of a salad bar (rare in Vernal) and found one but it was very disappointing. Italian dressing was plain. Soup tasted very much from a mix. Honeydew was ok. Crab meat salad ok. In general, it felt very uninspired, waited 10 min. for a server to even show up. read more

Worst breakfast ever! I ordered the ranch hand breakfast since I was going to spend the day hiking and fishing so I needed something to fill me up. I ate about a 1/3 of it. The country fried steak was fried to $^%# and back that I could have used it for hockey practice. The only thing saving it was the bacon and sausage that I wished I ordered more of. The country potatoes and biscuits tasted old or reused from another order. The staff was friendly but I heard the waitresses in the back yammering and cussing very loudly. Plus there is some choice characters there too that made my visit well entertaining. Some fat broad ripped here so call "Best expensive jeans that she owns" on the booth she was sitting at. So of course she made a spectacle out of it till the manager comped her meal. Never going to eat here again, the food tasted like it was reheated or reused....... BLAH! read more
