This review is being submitted by my husband John DeSimone. Several weeks ago, a cap fell off of one of my front top teeth. As i was in Yonkers and my primary dentist is in Florida. I went to Yonkers Avenue Dental. i had used them before (see his positive review of two years ago. Boy, have things changed! A young female dentist proceeded to cement the cap back on with minimal preparation. She did not hesitate to tell me that this was her last day on the job since she was moving to Puerto Rico (this should have been a clue). Four days later, while brushing my teeth, the cap fell off in the sink. I called to make another appointment, explaining the situation. They were very unsympathetic and I had to wait 4 days for an appointment. While in the waiting room, I spoke to the office manager to ensure that I would not be rebilled. She very agressvely told me that the work is NOT GUARANTEED, I would be rebilled and there were no other options. My options were limited, so I waited and saw a different dentist. He informed me that he was a partner in the practice. Again, with very little preparation, he reattached the tooth. He confirmed that the work is NOT GUARANTEED and was I forced to pay a second fee. I was shocked, when 5 days later, again while brushing my teeth, the cap fell out again. I have since returned to Florida. My regular dentist who did not know the identity of who I saw in Yonkers was very negative on the work that was performed. He prepared the same cap and the abutment properly, which was very different and much more thorough than what they did in Yonkers Dental, and reattached the cap.He said they never even cleaned the old cement out of the cap. It has been several weeks and the cap is still firmly attached. Needless to say, I will NEVER, NOT EVER be returning to Yonkers Avenue Dental. read more

The service of care here is terrible and the prices are ludicrously high. I had to pay nearly two hundred dollars just to talk to the dentist and ultimately he refused to actually tell me what was wrong with my teeth. I went in because of a cracked tooth. the nurse performed a full mouth X Ray, even though I did not request one. She said it was procedure. Fine. Then when the doctor came in, he told me that in that X ray he saw there were other cavities but he refused to give me any more details because I did not request a comprehensive exam. Then what was the point of the full mouth X Ray if you're not going to give me the results of it? Finally, we come back around to the cracked teeth I actually came in for, he told me it would cost over eight hundred dollars for three fillings. I refused treatment and went to another dentist. This other dentist not only gave me the full results of my X Ray and a proper treatment plan, which was more in depth and more likely to actually resolve my issues than just the fillings Smiling Dentist were going to give me, but it was significantly cheaper. Where Smiling Dentist was going to charge me nearly a thousand dollars for three fillings, the other dentist charged six hundred dollars for seven fillings. Overall, a terrible experience and I will not be revisiting ever again. read more

I was afraid to review before the work was done but I don't think I'm even going back. The office staff is SO incredibly rude, unprofessional and could literally care LESS about you. Also the dentist for that matter who didn't even check on me the day after extracting 3 teeth. When my daughter had her teeth pulled I left the office with a package of information and extra gauze and ice packs- they let me walk out with absolutely NOTHING at all, not even an ice pack! I was told it was a two-part process with no other charges explained. **Step 3: Return Visit Appointment (10/31)** I scheduled a return visit on October 31st at 3:30 p.m. for crown placement. No additional charges were mentioned during scheduling. I received an itemized bill with no mention of an outstanding balance. **Step 4: The Unexpected Surprise** When I returned on October 31st, I was shocked to be asked, "Are you aware of your charges for today?" I was then told I needed to pay an additional $2587. I was bewildered and made to feel like I should have read a "patient treatment form" I was never shown. I reluctantly signed the form, thinking it was necessary to document the new charges. **Step 5: The Halfway Done Procedure** Now, I'm halfway through a procedure with unexpected charges and no clear understanding of the financial aspect. I'm worried about my tooth's health and the pain I might endure. **Step 6: Seeking Clarity and Accountability** After the unexpected charges, I reached out to the dental office on November 1st, seeking an acknowledgment of their transparency failure. In response, I received an email that seemed to shift blame onto me, insinuating that I declined a quote due to my insurance situation, which I never did. They even mentioned non-existent text messages as proof. Despite the series of errors, I understand that mistakes can happen. What's most disheartening is feeling unfairly blamed for their missteps. The attempt to hold me responsible for their mistakes has been the most disappointing aspect of this ordeal. It has left a bitter taste in what should have been a positive journey toward improving my oral and dental health. I anticipate their response will be similar to their email, but I want to reiterate that I never declined a quote due to my insurance situation. No one in their right mind would leave a dental procedure thinking they'd get the rest of the quote later when insurance is sorted. Been coming here for a few years now and this review is overdue. It started out a little bumpy, with staff changes, insurance issues, and such - but the wait was worth it as I have been quite satisfied with the service and everyone. I wasn't the best as a kid in taking care of my teeth, so I was always at the dentist - different ones over the years, but none in which I felt as comfortable as I do here. Of course, my past teeth crimes have come back to haunt me now, so undoing the damage has been my goal for a little while. Dr. Rajani is excellent and knowledgeable. As mentioned, I've been to several dentists over my lifespan and I can say that Dr. Rajani is great at what he does. From talking with the patients, explaining procedures, to the work itself. But I can't single out only Dr. Rajani only - Dr. Park is also excellent. Two great dentists in the same place, can't get any better. Staff has been welcoming, friendly, accommodating, and as someone who works in healthcare myself, it's a big difference than other medical (dental or not) offices I've been to. I'm a big stickler for pointing out rudeness, but none of that is here. They are great. The equipment is pretty state of the art and everything is clean. The TV monitors play interesting and informative videos while you're in the chair. Parking is street - metered if you park on Yonkers Avenue. All in all, a highly recommended dental office. I will of course be returning to continue my work and/or my yearly's after that. read more

The employee Jah was not helpful when I called to continue my treatment plan. She had trouble answering simple questions regarding my treatment. ( She is the treatment plan coordinator )instead of answering she interrupted me and told me I was disrespecting her. I am not sure what I said to disrespect her however I think she is not equipped to talk to patients in a professional and courteous manner. Another employee was able to help me and answer all the questions that Jah did not want to answer. Hopefully Jah gets training on how to have effective and pleasant communication with all patients And assist with their needs, as this is the nature of the job. read more

Really not a good practice here. I'll tell you why: 1. The billing department will say what they want to make you feel like you have no choice but to do the treatment plan. As if there are ZERO alternatives, and it's either the doctor's way or the highway. There is no "in-between". They want you to commit to it completely. 2. They don't really listen to you. Classic scenario of white coats vs stupid patient. I asked them in the past to get another flipper (my current one is old and I should get another), but they insisted on just getting my implant done. I have never seen a doctor so desperate to get an implant done. It's like he was trying to plan his vacation with the money he'd get with my treatment. Sorry, I'm not ready to get my implant done. No, I can't afford it at this moment. 3. The other comment on here about rough cleaning - you bet they're rough. Bleeding gums is normal during thorough cleaning, but this is another level (in a painful way). I just cancelled my appointment today. By the way, I'm going to a dentist in Yorktown Heights. It's farther, and they DONT take insurance. So yes, I'm paying a lot - ALOT of my own cash to get my TMJ and ultimately my implant done. Thanks for wasting my time and money. Great service staff is always friendly the tests cleanings are delicate I don't ever feel like she digging lol and the wait time is about 10-30 min except if your going to see the orthodontist then you will wait longer because there is only one orthodontist that comes in on Wednesday's so be warned other than that great place read more

Extremely unprofessional practices. What is suppose to be a 2 week procedure turned it into over 2 months and still not completed. They already charged my insurance and me full amount but never completed the procedure. Put a temporary crown which came out since they took forever to complete the services. They made me take off work for no reason since they keep canceling my appointments. They refuse to reimburse me my money. I would have to go legal route against this practice. Went to this dentist on a whim because I happened to be in the neighborhood. Its my second time getting my teeth cleaned here. My fist experience was lovely with the Indian hygienist. But most recently I was cleaned by another women by the name of Diana. While she did a good job in getting the job done, it was the first time I had a teeth cleaning that was painful. I think shes rougher than I can bare. Also, what is really annoying was she was very aggressive in trying to sell me stuff (deep cleaning.) and she also made it seem like a I had significant dental damage, which I know is not true. I was also told I had a cavity and needed a root canal and cap . Which I will not be doing.. because I have beautiful teeth. I doubt Ill be returning as they spend so much time trying to get you to buy unnecessary stuff. I want to feel like I'm at an establishment that truly cares about my oral health and not just what they can sell me. read more

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. i took my 4 year old son here, the first dentist we went to was horrible, they could never clean his teeth because he was always scared and he would start crying. It was a children's dentist but they weren't very good with trying to make him comfortable. That was not the case at Yonkers Avenue Dental. From the minute we walked in the atmosphere was super friendly. The woman at the front desk was really nice as was the dentist Dr. Rajani and his helper. They were really nice to my son, they said all the right things to make him comfortable. They have the iPad connected to the light they use to see in his mouth and they gave him wireless headphones so the buzzing of the machines wouldn't scare him. They counted his teeth and cleaned them and he didn't even blink. I was there all of 15 minutes, including the time I took to fill out the paperwork. My appointment was on a Saturday at 11:30 so I didn't have to take off from work! Also the office is so clean! I will definitely continue to take my son here. To top it off, he had no cavities! read more

Ive been a patient at Yonkers ave for over 3 years, iam done with this place, keep cancelling my appointments one day before my appointment times, appointments who I've been waiting sometimes for more than a month, front desk very unprofessional they don't even apologize or try to help you, I had my Invisalign done, I lost my last tray since October and it's January iam still waiting for my retainers which where only supposed to be done in 2 weeks. I also received bills that I don't understand even 25 fee for missed appointment when it was them who canceled my appointment because they always have issues with late day visits bc the doctor that does late shifts never really stays. Iam very disappointed I will start looking for another dental medical office. read more

Had a horrible experience here. My braces resulted in several complications and my teeth were not able to reach my desired results, Horrible attitude on the part of the staff as well as the technician. Ended up going to Monifiore where the dentist was able to address my issues. Overall just has been a disappointing experience alongside the extensive wait times(over an hour) do not come here. read more

Hello, future patients beware. If I could give this Dental office no stars I would. Where do I start???? First I was told by the receptionist who answered the phone that they took my insurance. I made an appointment for my 9 year old son who broke his two front teeth, under the assumption that some of the dental work would be covered by my insurance. My son's dental work was subpar. Once he was finished, my husband paid for the work and was told by the front desk receptionist that a claim would be submitted to my insurance. Fast forward to now, I called today to follow up on the insurance claim, to be told by a young lady ( I will not include her name because I do not believe on highlighting her stupidity, for its embarrassing) in the insurance department, that they do not accept my insurance. When I continue to ask additional questions regarding this misunderstanding, I was continuously put on hold, for her to come back and tell me that the receptionist was a temp and I can submit a claim to my insurance myself, in hopes of getting reimbursed. Please do not insult my intelligence, because your office is in dire need of patients. Please do not go to this Dental office, there work is not good and they will basically lie about accepting your dental coverage, just to get you in there. read more

Where do I start? I had a root canal at age 17. It was the worse experience of my life that left me hospitalized, and in excruciating pain. So when Dr. Rajani told me I need another one, 13 years after my first one, clearly I was terrified. He put me at minimal ease telling me things have changed technological wise. That I would be fine. I wouldn't feel a thing. I dreaded that appointment and had major anxiety the days leading up to it. Long story short, I felt nothing at all and this morning I woke up pain free. The staff at this office is AMAZING. During breakfast my 7 year old's molar started to bleed. As a parent, I freaked out and started calling every dentist in my local area that could see her immediately. No office was available for an immediate visit. Then by a miracle I contacted this office which was able to see her within 30 minutes from the time I called. There was no wait, ALL staff was extremely professional. A special thank you to Carla, who was the hygienist that kept my very nervous 7 year old happy and smiling. She's actually looking forward to coming back. Imagine that! This practice has the most amazing dentist with the worse billing department and system I have ever dealt with. I changed insurance at the beginning of the year and they were never able to properly bill, after 6 months my insurance says they don't cover the service. I remember recieving a bill stating my insurance picked up the visit but then months later i was given a bill showing that I owed money for the first visit that had already been covered. They said it was a mistake and still kept billing the wrong insurance, despite me calling several times to correct them. I waited 3 weeks for them to "verify my insurance" for each appointment I had and now I'm stuck with a bill because According to the new office manager the old people didn't know what they were doing. I recently changed insurance again and have to find a new dentist because of their incompetent billing services. I have warned everyone in my family and I urge you to keep copy of every bill If you decide to take the risk. read more

I will start with the positives first. Staff at the first desk are great. They are friendly, warm and welcoming. The place is very clean and new. That is what attracted me to the place. But my experience with the dentists is disappointing to say the least. I had a root canal done about a year ago and I felt like the crown was a bit loose. So I went to get it checked. The dentist recommended an extraction and implant of a tooth that did not hurt, did not show any sign of fracture! This meant I had to pay around 3000 dollars out of pocket to correct a root canal they performed incorrectly. A root canal is supposed to last at least 5-10 year, maybe a life time and not come loose within a year. The reasoning that was given to be to the dentist was " the gums looked inflamed right now, so to prevent infection of the tooth we should remove it as soon as possible". I went to another dentist which confirmed the tooth was perfectly fine, and I would need a change of post and crown (which I again have to pay out of pocket because insurance is not going to cover a crown done within 1 year). I am glad I went to get a second opinion. My only regret is the thousands I spent at this clinic in the previous year, on my root canal as well as other procedures that were recommended by them (which I am now doubting the validity off). I went there for a cleaning and all I have are good things to say about Dr Rajani and his staff. The enviornment is amazing and state of the art. I have been with Yonkers Ave Dental since they FIRST opened. In the beginning, as most businesses, they make sure to put on their best performance. Fast forward to today, I have seen the staff change at least 5 times! And each time it is worse! I even had a friend of mine go and the staff was talking about her in Spanish not knowing that my friend spoke Spanish which she did address with Dr. Rajani directly. I was in desperate need of a root canal. At first I was told to "just go to the ER and let them deal with it" not knowing that they wanted to charge me over $3000 out of pocket when in fact have I dental coverage. My daughter had an upcoming appt and had I not called about another issue (again) I would not have known that my daughter's appt was canceled until further notice.The reason for my initial call that day was that whatever dentist they sent to cover Dr. Rajani while he was on vacation was a little too laid back and something that should have taken about an hour took 2 & 1/2 hrs! I have root canals before and never had the pain that I experienced this time. When I explained this to the manager, Michelle, she seemed like it was no big deal and told me I can wait until Monday to be seen. Meanwhile, whatever temporary filing they put in my tooth had completely fallen out and I can feel every pain and sensitivity imaginable. My family and 5 others friends (at least) I have referred have decided to take our business elsewhere. They also sat on the fact that I had been approved since JULY for dental implants but I NEVER received word about it until I made the initial call.
