Subway offer a sub of the day for 1.99 they have a different one for every day the prices at subway are affordable and they have a big range of mix and match for the meal of your choice. They offer cookies, muffins, drinks, crisps, salads and they also cater kids pack lunches which are usually very well liked. Subway have also recently started to cater for Muslims who are on halal which i think is brilliant, they are trying to get it in to all subway stores but at the moment it is only in selected stores and am afraid this is not one of them yet but will been soon. Satterthwaites are extremely popular in the area and well known amongst non-locals too! The food is extremely good, and of course the type of food sold- stodgy savouries: pies; pasties; sausage rolls, and cakes- is irresitable and undeniably popular generally, however I think the popularity of this store is through the unmistakeable element of tradition Satterthwaites has managed to preserve; the cakes are classics: bavarian slices, carrot cakes, meringues, while the old fashioned uniforms are unique to Satterthwaites: hair nets and hats are worn as well as gloves which is nice to see. The staff are always very sociable and friendly and the food is really satisfying: tasty, filling, and reasonably priced. They seemed to act like they were doing me a favour, after spending a couple of minutes at the till (while my food was going cold), rather than actually honouring a free drink deal which all other Subway's offer. My usual order of a gluten-free tuna, ham and cheese sub with salad was much messier than normal too, prices were a little higher compared to my usual store in Manchester city centre, but this is common with Subway stores tending to charge different locations based on the franchise.
