He got to know us and our music preferences, but we gave them total creative control of the event. We chose the classic songs, but they took care of the rest. They are so professional, they do this weekend after weekend. Trust them! We did not worry about a thing and the whole crowd was moving. Our wedding was early September 2017 and we are still hearing our guests rave about them. We have even had other friends ask for their contact info who are getting married in the future. They performed a Louis Armstrong song that everyone thought was recorded. But it was LIVE. The cocktail hour keyboardist/pianist was great too. We went with a 9 piece band plus cocktail at La Valencia hotel and have no regrets. Everyone had a private concert at our wedding and LOVED Calphonics. Trust them and hire them! It was so nice to have 2 people who can play any instrument to fit the song, instead of hiring 4 separate musicians. They are ridiculously sweet and patient. We loved how collaborative and fun they were at every step, from planning all the way to the end of the event. As the groom, my favorite moments were when they welcomed me onstage to play drums with the band at the beginning of the mother-son dance, and how both their acoustic dinner set and their high-energy open dance set were incredible and showed off the many talents of our musicians. Allison was our lead vocalist and MC, and she was incredible in every way imaginable. The musical talent was on full display from everyone, and she did a great job reading the energy of the crowd and keeping it exactly where it needed to be. The musicians were very easy and fun to plan with, super responsive, and open to involving the crowd and having people join them onstage. We had to deal with a major last-minute change where our open dance floor was supposed to be outside but ended up inside, and based on how well the band adjusted, I think it was even more special. I won't spoil too many surprises for anybody else lucky enough to work with Republic of Music. I'll end this review by saying they exceeded the already high expectations I had and made our wedding reception that much more special for everyone involved.
