Nick DJ'd our wedding in May '26, not only was he professional, meticulous and talented, but he was also warm and inviting with our guests. He spent the time and energy to learn how to play a few select songs on the ukulele for our ceremony and it was so perfect for what we wanted. He was enthusiastic about our music selection and I was happy everytime I heard the music in the background while mingling with friends or was out on the dance floor with the love of my life. We hired Nick for our wedding at Bali Hai in October 2023. We found out he was a family friend and when we looked at his portfolio, instantly could tell from his videos that he was a fun, friendly person with a great sense of humor and a talented, versatile musician. Nick was hired by my son and fiancee to DJ their wedding this past weekend. I am taking the time to write a review because I was so impressed by him. The day after the wedding, as we all gave the bride and groom kudos for the great music (everyone was danced up a storm!) they gave a lot of credit to Nick. According to them, Yes, they gave Nick a song list with both fast and slower songs on it. But Nick went above and beyond. He was completely engaged the entire reception. He "read the room" (brides words) and kept the energy of the guests in high gear with his choice of which songs to play and when but also played songs of his choosing that were "exactly right" (brides words). He was instrumental in making the wedding a huge success. By way of comparison of how a DJ can impact your wedding; the one hired for my daughter's wedding was simply put; terrible. He assured us that he did not need a play list and that a 'sampling' of songs the couple liked was all he needed to create a song list tailored to their likes (country, classic rock). He then went on to play Disco almost exclusively. As the hostess of the event, I was dismayed as guests left the dance floor over the course of 5 or 6 Disco songs played in a row. When I asked him to play a different genre and made suggestions, he said, "the bride requested this music". (I've listened to my daughter's music for 28 years; Disco is not on her play list). Clearly, he did not notice or care that the guests left the dance floor and made no effort to find the right mix of music to revive the dancing. I literally had to go around asking guests to make requests. Music is an important wedding component. If you want a professional who loves what he does and truly wants the music at your wedding to help make your day a success, hire Nick. read more

We hired Nick to play live guitar and DJ our wedding. He was extremely easy to work with which is much appreciated in the chaos that putting a wedding together can be. For his part, he made song selection for his live music and DJ set list streamlined and efficient so we could get on to the next phase of our event. Of course planning his part of the event is only half the battle. The other half is execution and that is where Nick really shines. His acoustic numbers were great and set the perfect mood for our ceremony. We had some unique song choices but Nick really nailed them and made our event even more special. Playing through the cocktail hour, we heard such great things from people telling us they really enjoyed his performance. Having someone play live really added a unique quality to the cocktail hour and helped pass the time in a more interesting manner than simply having canned music playing. Also, our expectations as a DJ were far surpassed. We didn't expect many people to be out dancing given the crowd that we had but Nick got the party going early and never let it slow down. What had been anticipated as more of a cocktail party vibe ended up being a pretty big dance party and we had people on the dance floor all night long. Nick wasn't phased by it at all though as he kept the songs moving, kept the songs we had requested in mind, and didn't play anything corny. What more could we have wanted? His choice of music was appropriate for the event, a memorial reception. He was entertaining but unobtrusive. He was adept at reading the crowd and playing some great nostalgic songs. My husband and I hired Nick to sing and play an acoustic music set for the farewell brunch during our wedding weekend in Palm Desert this fall, and we could not have been more thrilled with the experience! First, we decided fairly late in the planning process that it would be such a treat to have an acoustic singer for part of our wedding weekend, and Nick made himself readily available only 6 weeks before the event. He reached out to us for inspiration regarding the vibe we were hoping to achieve, and even requested that we send a list of songs we would like to hear during the event. I absolutely love music and sent a pretty ambitious list of favorites about a month before the big day. By day of the event, Nick had mastered every song we requested, and he included them all in our set! When he played that song at our event, my dad, siblings, and I all gathered around him and sang with him. This small gesture was such a special surprise for my family, because it was one more way in which we could include my mom in our wedding weekend, even though she couldn't be there in person. Nick is a great teacher, I'm really happy with my progress! He learns songs quickly and totally gets how to work with me. It's been a pretty unique experience- his studio is great. I like how he uses his computer to make drums and other instruments to play along with. I've had a few other guitar teachers, and none have used as much technology, it's really helpful, and he has helped me use computer drums at home too. Every other teacher I've had hasn't even come close to the resources he uses, and he's just as good a player as any of them, it's a unique little business. read more

We hired Nick Weiss for our wedding reception and he was amazing! Nick was easy to get in contact with and he made the process of planning our wedding music seamless and easy. He listened to what we wanted and was very easy to deal with. When we met with him, he even played the guitar and ukulele for us in person and he is very very talented. While we waited outside during the cocktail hour to make our grand entrance, everyone who came out of the reception was raving about how awesome the music was. Nick Weiss is a true professional. We hired him for our wedding ceremony and reception and it was a very good experience. We originally were going to have our wedding in San Diego but then decided to have it in Orange County instead. He was easy going about traveling. He was very accessible in every stage of our planning and knew the right questions to ask to make everything as smooth as possible. He has incredible talent. For the ceremony he played our requested songs including one he has probably never had requested before, all on ukulele. It sounded lovely. For the ceremony we were not allowed to have live music, but lucky for us, Nick also deejays , so it was a no-brainer hiring him for that too. He did an awesome job. We had several requests and he also gave us some very good suggestions to make it a very fun, memorable, special evening. We finally met him face to face maybe half way through the evening, and what a genuinely nice man he is. Also that evening may have been the most humid, uncomfortable day in any of our memories, and Nick never once made us feel like he was uncomfortable. Approximately one month prior to our wedding, we decided we would like to have live music for our wedding ceremony. When doing a search online, we came across, Nick Weiss and we are so thrilled we contacted him! Nick played the ukulele at our ceremony and it was beautiful. So many of our guests commented on how beautiful it was to have live music and how much they enjoyed the music Nick chose to play. Nick took requests as to which songs we wanted played during the ceremony for the processional, bridal entrance and recessional. He played the songs beautifully and also played music on his ukulele as guests were arriving to the ceremony. Nick was also very knowledgeable of the location of our ceremony, South Beach in Coronado, and recommended we set up a microphone so all the guests could hear the ceremony. What a great suggestion, as this was something we had not thought of. Nick took care of setting up the microphone for us and we are very grateful that he suggested this, otherwise our guests definitely would not have been able to hear the ceremony. Nick performed for my wedding ceremony and post-ceremony dinner. It was a small, intimate gathering of around 30 people.
