Delightful pub serving food in this isolated town. Tons of local families there. Food was very…read moregood: cottage pie and wood-fired pizza. ( yes, wood fired pizza) Good pours on wine and a very friendly staff. No Irish music though. :)

Worst experience navigating my celiac disease in all of Ireland, and beyond. I am both Gluten and…read moredairy free (doubly blessed? ) and the bartender basically told me it wasn't safe. I was just trying to get a burger on a bit of lettuce and tomato. Evidently their burgers have gluten in it, which should be a concern for everyone because that means they're not all natural. The manager then tried to offer a grilled chicken and lettuce, but I wasn't willing to take the chance at that point because I had already been told that they don't have any protocol for cross contamination. It is literally the only restaurant in town so if you're coming to Anescuel with celiac disease, you will definitely need to have an Airbnb or figure something else out! I was sorry to have to go next-door to the small market and buy a few slices of ham gluten-free bread and a bottle of mayonnaise just so I could survive walking the Camino Kerry. The manager said they have a small kitchen, but there's always ways to accommodate. I hope the owner sees this and makes a better effort. I'm available for consultation if needed! I operate a major league baseball barbecue stand and we successfully feed thousands of people every year safely. It's not hard. It just needs to have a process. If they weren't literally the only restaurant in town, I would have been more gracious with this review , but they're definitely missing an opportunity! Gluten-free people in groups usually pick the restaurant!

THIS PLACE IS A MUST! I wish that I could give this place more than 5 stars! Everything was perfect…read more- from the service to the food. We were traveling through the Irish country side and our Air BnB host suggested this place and even made a reservation for us. We arrived a little before closing time of the kitchen and the staff was more than happy to accommodate us and very willing to serve a party of 6. Our server was so friendly and personable. She had us laughing the entire night. It really just made for the overall perfect dining experience. She gave us a full run down of the menu and told us about her favorites - and let me tell you...her recommendations were spot on! Since there were 6 of us - we all ordered something different off the menu so each of us could try it. Trying to make a decision was so hard because it all sounded so good. It was pretty difficult figuring out who had the best dish. For an appetizer, I got the seafood chowder and it was seriously the best chowder I've ever had. I didn't even want to order seafood chowder again on the trip because I was so spoiled by how delicious the one at The Bianconi was. I still am telling people how good it is. There was so much seafood in it and big chunks, too - they definitely do not skimp on the seafood meat in their chowder. It came in a bowl and was an actual serving - so if getting as an appetizer I would suggest sharing with someone. I got the monkfish special. It was buttery and cooked to perfection and so flavorful - and to make it even better it was perfectly topped with a cheese sauce. My fiancé got the half orange glazed ginger duck and oh my it was great! Cooked perfectly and the skin was lightly charred to make it crunchy. The meat was so moist and the orange and ginger glaze made for a great flavor! If you're passing through the Irish country side and want a great place to eat with staff that gives you a warm welcome - I would HIGHLY suggest coming here!
