The halloumi salad was also great, with a generous amount of cheese. This pub is a perfect example of the evolution of pubs in the country, serving much higher quality food than in times past. We popped in after dinner and bellied up to the bar only to be passed over multiple times by the bartenders. They clearly saw us, even made eye contact at times, but just kept moving, taking orders of folks who walked up to the bar well after we had sat down. It was the strangest experience of bar service we had experienced in Killarney. Once the bartender actually acknowledged us, she was friendly. We got our drinks and moved to the front room where they had live music. We finished our drinks, enjoyed the music and called it a night after one pint. The space has all the character of an old Irish pub and we had high hopes for Courtney's, but sadly it was the one negative experience on our trip. Overall, disappointed. Enjoyed the pint and the space is cool, but we wouldn't recommend as a "must do" on a trip to Killarney.

My wife's tuna salad was as tasteless. Not good value, lacking taste and topped with total lack of service. This is a place I will not remember from my trip. It almost seems like a little tea house, with lace tablecloths and bud vases on each table. The service is so affable and hospitable; I get the feeling not too many tourists dine at An Corcan, and we were welcomed in the typical Irish manner, with broad smiles, good-natured banter, and plenty of questions about where we were from. The food at An Corcan is surprisingly good, given its off-the-beaten-path location in an off-the-beaten-path town. It has an interesting mix of Irish pub fare (cream of vegetable soup which is lovely, roasts and fish and chips which hit the spot, and the famous Irish "toasted special," in this case a combo of ham, cheese, tomato and onion), and American bar food (chicken wings which we didn't bother to sample, chicken curry salad which was actually a big hit with our group, and burgers). There's something for everyone at An Corcan.
