Everything was pretty bad. Food over cooked. Prices unexpectedly high. Flies everywhere inside.

When you enter you walk into their store which offers both clothing and spirits. We came on country music line dancing night, which we didn't join. They have a large bar with local beers. Let's get down to the moonshine cocktails, they are delicious. I had the skook drink and my wife had the apple pie cocktail. They were both tasty although mine was basically a "don't order two because you are over the limit". As for the food, a person from the kitchen brought out a new salsa they were taste testing and it was good. It's probably out now. We ordered burgers and it was a wait to get them, around 25 minutes. The burgers and tots were obviously cooked in one of those convection ovens. The food had some fresh ingredients ie. the mozzarella, but it could be better. I saw that they cut down their menu from their website which was a wise idea. They just need to crush the items they have. We ordered the nachos as and appetizer and the chips are made in house. The bad part is that they aren't cooked long enough. As for the shine, it's amazing and they have many cocktails to suit everyone's palate. If your not a liquor drinker they have a small selection of local beers and your basic sodas.

The fried fish fillets were absolutely perfect and crispy. The drinks were great. I got the Kentucky mules and though not of their normal offering they were done well. Excellent place. We had heard they had a new chef and the food was good. Only one other person ordering food, and he was sitting at the bar. Two employees. Waitress came over. Dining companion wanted a Bloody Mary. Waitress, we don't have those here! Ice teas then. We start looking at the menu and the weekend specials. Bloody Mary is on the specials menu! When she comes back to bring our beverages and take our food order, we tell her, "you might want to cross the drink special off!" She's asks why, we tell her. She just shrugged. Didn't say let me check, I could be wrong. Nothing. We order. I want the Clams Casino. We are out. Are you sure? Yes. I order the fish and chips. One Reuben. Food comes. Fish looked liked frozen, deep fried tenders. Fries were hot. Coleslaw tasteless. So disappointing. Reuben was just an average deli sandwich, nothing special, nothing wrong. Mid. Waitress never came back to give us tea refills and we never got the lemon we asked for. Best part of this experience was the hot, crispy fries. The waitress, even though pleasant she wasn't on top of her game. We literally were her only table and it's not like she was running back and forth to the other side. The bar/pub side wasn't open yet. We will return to drink, all of the bartenders are good. It has a friendly, welcoming vibe in the evening. The restaurant and food. I'll pass.

July 17, 2025 Well I…read morehesitate to share this review because their Thursday night Steak night is bonkers already! lol!! I've been to this restaurant numerous times, but it was my first time trying steak night this past Thursday my husbands brother was in town so we thought we would take him to the Mckeansburg Hotel. He was there in the past and ordered scallops. I couldn't stop talking about how delicious they were. We opted to sit at the bar and got prompt and friendly service from the owner bartender, Kevin and our server and I'm very sorry. I did not recall her name but she gave very good service and I know that she was extremely busy even being so busy, she was very efficient and polite . I opted to get the strip steak. It is 9 ounces and I ordered it medium in addition to the strip steak. You also get a soup or salad +2 side dishes and homemade fresh baked bread. I heard through the grapevine that the owner comes in at 3 AM and bakes the bread for the restaurant . It has a very pleasant oniony savory flavor. My steak was cooked to perfection and was only $12.95. My brother-in-law law ordered a steak that had onions and mushrooms and my husband ordered the steak with Cajun seasoning. I believe in a blue cheese crown that he absolutely loved. I think those steaks may have been a couple dollars extra but still the price was phenomenal. I would highly recommend steak night. You should consider making a reservation if you want to sit in the dining room all the board tables were already reserved when we arrived, but luckily we were able to find three seats at the bar, but we also went very early. The Mckeansburg is a charming restaurant in the beautiful countryside and it is a well run business most of the times when I go to Mckeansburg, I tend to order the thin sliced roast beef french dip with their delicious creamy horseradish sauce, but for the same price I could have steak on steak night, so I had to try it! It is their specialty and did not disappoint!! I can see what all the excitement is about. I'll be back to this quaint lovely hotel restaurant soon. It's so homey and inviting. The food and prices can't be beat!

First opened in 1890 as an eatery and hotel, the hotel portion is no longer in service, but the restaurant is still thriving where my partner, his family and I came to this hidden gem for breakfast yesterday morning. Reservation was luckily made last minute by calling that morning for an available 830am seating; otherwise, it would have been at 11am. They are that popular for brunch, and patrons would be turned away without one. Upon arrival, some of us stood at the "wait to be seated" sign for a few minutes before being acknowledged. The restaurant appeared to be empty by the number of available parking spaces off of Chestnut Street, with at least three or four tables occupied by customers. Once greeted by the staff, we were immediately seated by the kitchen in the dining room to a simple, traditional, and inviting atmosphere. Like many older buildings, the bar is in a separate room from the restaurant. The breakfast menu was limited compared to other establishments in northern Jersey. We decided on the Farmer Breakfast, Creamed Chipped Beef, Breakfast Quesadilla (no meat) with potatoes substituted, and Eggs Benedict. Our meal was served hot, delicious, homemade with fresh ingredients, and cooked to order. Our server, Sheila, was attentive and accommodating. The price was very reasonable. With history and roots for food and drinks, we can recommend this place.

Everything on the menu sounded really good - our party of three opted for the "special" stuffed shells / then off the menu the 8 oz filet and the Delmonico steak w crab topping . The Delmonico steak was cooked properly but was so tough it wasn't edible . It was literally the worst steak - couldn't even cut it - we did point it out to the waitress and she said "my manager is sorry" - to be fair the waitress asked if my husband wanted another steak but by that time the steak was such a turn-off he no longer wanted a steak - other than that - no other compensation so we took it for our dog since we were paying 39.00 for it . The rest of the food was good / nothing great but adequate . I ordered a piece of carrot cake for dessert that was absolutely dried out / tasteless and greasy frosting - just the worst cake I've ever experienced- I did have them take that off my bill . What was a very nice experience and the best part of the whole visit was our super friendly and pro-active waitress - she did a fantastic job ! We appreciated her .
