The Westy Bar & Grill did not disappoint and not only hit expectations, but above and beyond expectations! I had heard they had good wings, and these wings were exceptional! I mixed hot & garlic Parmesan. We got an extra cheese bar pie, well done, which was very good. The Reuben Fries were a must order item! I ordered an antipasto salad for take out. It was terrible. If you don't know how to make one, learn or take it off your menu. It had mushrooms. onions, and green peppers in it. There was only a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top, I think it was parm. There was too little to tell. They simply took a tossed salad, rolled up some ham and cheese, loaded it with banana peppers and called it an antipasto salad. I asked for no pepperoni because it should have been salami. Where was the mozzarella?? I did give the restaurant 3 stars because I have eaten there often and, generally speaking, the food and service are good. Well I'm back and ate here twice in the past three months and the food is there...the service has been there even on a Friday night! We never had an issue with our meals or service until our last visit. We had not just one, but two long hairs in our salad. In general, our service was not good or responsive to our table either. Great location. Price is right. If you order the wings, ensure they are hot (temperature). Since we were hungry, I ate them. They tasted great and were buffalo style. No issues with the flavor or quantity. When I mentioned it to the server, I was expecting that she would eight take it off the bill or provide a discount. Haven't been to this place in well over a Decade! Nicely Remolded! Westy's has a large Circular Or Rectangular bar with full array of Adult beverages! Situated on the west edge of Hamburg off of 61,(use your GPS or Waze app to get here!) it's a little out of the way for your first visit. West's has a large menu with Appetizers to Entrees. We ordered a half dozen boneless wings with Honey Bourbon sauce. The boneless wings were tender and the sauce was sweet and tangy. Had better boneless wings these were ok not great. I ordered the Ruben Sandwich it came with fries and the wife ordered the Pulled Pork Barbecue also came with fries! The Ruben was on Marled Rye that was grill toasted I wasn't impressed by it because the bottom was soggy! The flavors were all there and the Corn Beef was tender! The wife's pulled pork was more shredded than pulled the wife said the sauce was a little skimpy. The overall food wasnt served hot! Went here for wings with a friend of mine. We sat at the bar and got menus form the bartender. For the wings, the menu states, "no splitting sauces. I will say the wings are good however the no splitting of sauces makes no sense and a way to get a couple more $ out of customers. You can order the wings in 6, 12, 24, or 50, with the more you order the price goes down. I asked the bartender if a customer ordered 50 wings for takeout, would the customer only be allowed to order one sauce. She replied, "yes" but there is a loophole. If you ordered the wings naked you can get two different sauces on the side. My friend and I were planning on ordering 24 wings but because we are only allowed one sauce and we didn't want to risk not having enough sauces on the side, we ordered separate orders of 12 with tow different sauces. An order of 24 is cheaper than ordering 2 orders of 12 but because you are no allowed to split sauces, they force you to order 2 orders of 12 at a higher cost. Now think about this, the 2 orders of 12 we ordered with different sauces equals 24 wings. So in the kitchen they are preparing 24 wings with 2 different sauces but because of the no splitting sauces policy, the customer is forced to order two orders of 12 at a higher cost. So why can't a customer order 24 wings and they split the sauce, 12 one sauce and 12 another sauce. It is the same thing. This is why it is a scam. This is the only restaurant I ever came across that doesn't let a customer split sauces. I get they don't want it getting out of hand with customers ordering multiple sauces for their wings but just let the customer split no more than 2 sauces for orders of 12 or more wings. We've been here many times. This is BY FAR the worst experience we've ever had here. Some kind of party or reserved part, but very loud where we were seated. Before our food came, the air conditioning came on (mind you, it's 37F outside). We mentioned it and were ignored. The party began to overtake the entire side where we were seated. Constantly opening a door next to us making so much better!!! Our workplace 'used to' come her for retirement parties etc., but after tonight, that's over.... Great choice to stop at Westy for literally the best wings I've ever had, bar none! Big and crispy and the mango habanero sauce was more sweet than hot, but on point. We stopped to see a particular college football game w/much &beer, the hostess changed the channel on one of the TVs and got us a perfect table to watch. Hamburger steak description on menu says it's flame broiled, didn't taste or look like it was flame broiled. Salad with Caesar dressing was okay. Mixed vegetables pretty good, may have come from bag frozen vegs. Fresh cut french fries were okay. Service was good. read more

This was a pleasant find. Hamburg lies about halfway home from Knoebels for me, so we opted to stop in for dinner to break the drive up for the kids. Despite the middling ratings, it seemed like one of the better choices in the area, so we took a chance. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a VERY intoxicated older gentleman exiting the establishment who hadn't quite made it to the restroom. Not a great omen, but we opted to journey on. At around 6 o'clock on a Tuesday, the place wasn't packed, but it was buzzing. The host quickly pushed two tables together to accommodate our party of eight, and we were seated within 5 minutes. The menu was pretty typical bar fare: mostly sandwiches, burgers, pizza and fried foods with a few salads and pasta choices thrown in for good measure. We tried had a variety of dishes including a few burgers, some wings, a taco salad (that was 75% ground beef!), a few kids meal spaghettis and I had the fried clams basket. Oddly enough, the standout dish was the Dynobites appetizers, which were broccoli fried with cheese and bacon bits inside. Served with a side of Ranch, despite the inclusion of broccoli, these little nuggets were 0% nutritious, but 100% delicious. Everyone else reported that their dishes ran from average to good, with the highest marks seemingly belonging to the wings and the Bison Chipotle Burger. My basket fell into the average range; the clams were about a 50-50 mix of decent sized pieces and small bits, and the clam to french fry ratio leaned way to heavily to the fries (although they were quite good!). Service was extremely friendly and patient with a group of four children, but also extremely spotty. The kitchen couldn't find servers or runners to bring our meals out, so some of the cooks started delivering dishes. A drink was forgotten, no one checked for refills, etc., etc. Nothing unforgivable, but enough that everyone's positive attitude didn't quite make up for it. All in all, if you're in the area you could certainly do far worse, and I wouldn't hesitate to stop in again some time, just limit your expectations. read more

Been here a few times now when we visit Cabela's. This time it was not overly amazing. The food took 40 minutes to arrive. The main course that is. Our appetizers were almost forgotten about. My "Potato Skins" were actually potato slices with just the outside edge being a "skin". They were soggy and not properly cooked. The Hot and Honey wings that were labeled as "The biggest in Berks" were just normal sized wings. I got 12 of the Hot and Honey. They were more hot than honey. Overall the food was subpar this visit. My family that was with me had a very greasy burgers. The shrimp was surprisingly the only properly cooked food item. The waitress was awesome and what happened was beyond her control. Just was not a very good experience this time. read more

The only reason this place is getting one star is because my to go order was ready to go on time. The food has drastically gone down hill. The cheesesteaks were our go to as an always good filling meal. The meat is now steakum and the cheapest red sauce they could find. I have a 10 minute drive home and the rolls were soggy and soaked through with grease and a water like substance to help melt the cheese. I also don't know what type of processed chicken loaf was used to make a chicken cheesesteak but that was somehow even worse than the cheesesteak. Will not be returning. read more

A group of us had lunch here after visiting Cabellas. Jennie was our server and she did a great job! The food was quite good. Most of us ordered chicken breast entrees of one variation or another and we all really enjoyed them. Entrees come with a salad, potato and vegetable and the portion size is generous. The kids raved about their boneless wings and hand cut fries. Prices were reasonable for what you receive. All in all a good experience and worth a stop if you are in the area! read more

I've had lunch here several times over the last 5-6 years, most recently of which was yesterday. We got there around noon and the place was busy. Although we didn't order beers, they had a great beer list. The menu is lengthy and offers your standard bar/tavern/pub type food. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. My father and I split an order of wings (combo of hot + BBQ sauces) to kick things off. WOW! We both commented that those were absolutely some of the best tasting wings we've ever had. After pigging out on those treats, we both enjoyed Grilled Chicken Caesar Salads to make ourselves feel a little bit better about things. My first time here on a Friday. The place was packed. Really great place with indoor and outdoor seating. I think this place is a great place to go for dinner. There menu has a lot to offer from appetizers to steaks, burgers and seafood selections. Prices are $$$ but quantity and quality don't disappoint. We were a party of two. So for time reasons we sat at the bar to eat. Bartender as well as other employees were attentive. They really treat you good here. The place is super clean and the Chipotle Bison Burger is really good. I was impressed with how beefy and juicy the bison was. I'd say the cook did an excellent job preparing this. My friend ordered the BBQ pork sandwich. The pork was well prepared but the sandwich was a bit of a soggy mess to eat although very delicious. I gave this place 4 stars only because of the temperature of the area in the restaurant where we were seated. Behind the bar there is a machine that sits on the bar side and blows very hot air on you as you sit at the bar. It made it very uncomfortable and difficult for the bartender to serve us and work around it. The hot air caused us to sweat and it melted the ice in my drink. I suggest the management move that machine to another place behind the bar where the back of the machine is not facing the patron sitting at the bar. It's got to be the worst seat in the house. Also their political attitude displayed on the sweat shirt they are selling shows an attitude I felt was little disturbing considering the fact that I work in the medical field and Im a front line worker. People wearing the shirt drinking at the bar made me feel a little uncomfortable. But that's just me. I felt confrontations amongst unruly alcoholics might be an issue there if you displayed a different view about the pandemic. I wouldn't feel comfortable going there for late night drinks or to see any live entertainment venues there because of the display of political bias I saw amongst some of the regulars drinking at the bar. read more
