I had a wonderful experience at the spa at CIVANA. A group of friends got the day pass and we spent all day here. While the pass was a little expensive, I did find it worth it. You were able to attend 2 classes and receive any 1 hour body session...that includes facials and massages. Upon walking into the resort, my thought was that it looked so pristine. Everything was white and cream colored and just made my nerves calm. After checking in we received a map of the property and a complimentary CIVANA water bottle that you can use at any of the filtered water stations. What a great touch. The pool associated with the spa was nice. I didnt get in but I did lounge pool side and enjoyed a delicious burger and wedges. Food and drinks are sold separately. There were plenty of lockers and space to spread out. There was an aqua therapy circuit featuring hot and cold Kneipp Walks , cold plunge pool and Tepdarium pool. However as soon as I walked into that area, my eyes burned so bad. There was so much chlorine in there I was just uncomfortable. for the spa session i enjoyed the revive to thrive. You begin with a dry-glove exfoliation to jumpstart detoxification and stimulate the lymphatic system. Next, the body is covered in warm herbalized oil from scalp to toes with friction strokes that move the oil into the tissues to further dislodge toxins. Then muscle-specific strokes are used to promote relaxation. Finally, your therapist will use Marma Point Therapy to stimulate and awaken energy in the body, calm the mind, and activate healing. I fell asleep. lol Overall I would recommend to have this experience at least once in your life. The classes were delightful and I brought some techniques home with me. read more

This was a day at the spa for the girls. We enjoyed all the amenities offered with the day pass access. From doing a morning yoga class to doing Feng Shui Love and Relationships class in the late afternoon. I did have a massage here, which was hot stone deep tissue massage and Veronica got me right. I don't get too many massages but I need to do it more often. Spa facilities were excellent - eucalyptus steam, sauna, cold plunge, poolside food service, and all of it clean and well attended to. I was going to take off a star due to my food having hair embedded in the cheese on my turkey burger. The staff was so attentive to make me another burger with a quickness and they're so kind to remove it from my tab. I appreciate them for resolving that issue and making that experience not as bad. Those white sweet potato fries were delicious! I must find those to make some at home. The massage treatment itself was amazing and very rejuvenating. I just need to restate that again, and I appreciate my masseuse telling me to stay hydrated for the rest of the day because I felt the result the next morning only a little bit. I didn't have too bad of muscle cramps the next day. The entire sounds were beautiful and it was calming to view. Especially seeing bunnies hop around and even a lizard crawl by. The Spa is something truly special... The property is gorgeous and when you enter the building, you can almost feel the outside world and stress melting away. During my recent two night stay for my birthday, I treated myself to a facial, a massage, and also did the "healing through waters" class one morning, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing if you find yourself at Civana. (Try to go when Anton is leading and you will not regret it... thank me later!) The services were good... not over the top great, but I am admittedly spoiled as I've been to my fair share of other high end spas. The facility offers a nice locker room with robes and slippers and a couple of different waiting rooms too. There are light snacks ie: dried apricots and tea offered for those waiting for services. There is also a private spa pool for patrons with gorgeous views. The reason for four stars vs five: When my group was there, we found a few instances of toilet paper being out in several stalls, and the waiting area being unkept with blankets and towels left behind. Also several folks in my group didn't love the services they received for various reasons. Even so, I do recommend going and I hope to return soon... both for more pampering and possibly cold plunging aka "healing through waters" again and again! Enjoy! read more

Highly highly recommend the Spa at Civana. This was probably the most relaxing spa experience I've ever had. I love that when you purchase a spa package you have access to the spa for the whole day. The staff here were super accommodating and let us come back the next day to enjoy the spa amenities since we had a late appointment right before the spa closed. There are so many amenities to enjoy within the spa! Take your time and try to do a little bit of everything. They have a lovely waiting room with couches and beds and some light snacks that you can enjoy before your massage. Overall 10/10 I had a beautiful time! read more

We kicked things off with the BodyLOVE Joyful Journey class led by Patti, which was such a grounding way to start the day. It set the tone perfectly--intentional movement, mindful breathing, and just the right amount of flow to ease into relaxation. Afterward, we hit the gym, which is well-equipped and super clean. It's a great setup if you want to squeeze in a workout before slipping into full-on spa mode. Then came the real magic--the spa. Upon arrival, you're given a locker, sandals, and a robe for the day, which makes settling in effortless. We rotated between the cold plunge, hot tub, dry sauna, and eucalyptus steam room. I really appreciated that the cold plunge and hot tub were coed so that we could enjoy those spaces together. The only separated area is the steam room, which still felt like a nice quiet moment of solitude. We both booked massages--my fiancé had the Civana Calm, while I chose the Revive to Thrive. Mine was indeed one of the best massages I've ever had. Alden was incredibly intuitive, and the entire session felt personalized and restorative. After that? Straight to the pool. We spent the afternoon lounging under the Arizona sun with absolutely fantastic poolside service. I ordered the Honey Margarita, and wow--this might be one of the best margaritas I've ever tasted. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and came with a chili salt rim and lime wheel that gave it a little kick. The Seared Salmon Tacos were fresh, flavorful, and just the right portion. My fiancé had the Poke Bowl, which was beautifully presented and had a nice little heat to it--but we both thought it could've used a touch of aioli or something creamy on top to tie everything together. From start to finish, Civana nails the experience. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are cozy and thoughtfully designed, and every little detail feels curated for relaxation. Went here a few months ago. The spa itself is beautiful, with amazing amenities and a great location. However, the customer service needs serious improvement. I've spent multiple times on hold for 20 minutes or more, and when someone finally answers, it often feels disorganized, like no one is really sure what's going on. A few interactions have even come with attitude, which is disappointing given the premium prices. For a $300 massage, I expect a smoother, more professional experience from start to finish. I genuinely hope management invests in better training, because the Cafe down the street shows exactly how warm, attentive customer service should feel. If I could give this place 10/5 stars I would. The Civana Spa was the most relaxing experience I have ever had. I visited with a friend, to cap off a weekend escape to Arizona, and was not disappointed. We had stumbled upon Civana online, and had been dreaming about it for weeks leading up to our trip, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Before our spa visit, we explored the resort, and stopped at Civana's Seed Cafe for a snack and drink. Starting off our spa experience, we did the aquavitality circuit: a dip in each tub, to the cold water bucket, and a rest in the sauna. Then, I experienced my first ever massage. It was very relaxing and I felt rejuvenated. My masseuse knew just how to guide me through my first massage, and let my whole body fall into complete relaxation. I felt very comfortable and the atmosphere was very serene. After my massage, my masseuse led me to the relaxation room to wait for my friend. It was perfect weather, and almost sunset, so we sat a while on the deck overlooking the pool. Then, we got to visit the outdoor spa pool, and relax in the cabana beds as the sun set. After our spa visit, we finished off the night with dinner and drinks at Civana's Restaurant, Terras. I would recommend this escape from reality to anyone. Any other spa won't even come close to the Civana experience. This is my third time here and I can't believe I've never written a review. But this place is absolutely fantastic. The workers here are all extremely chill, and very helpful. The pool out back is much more serene than the central Civana pool. The Hot-Cold Plunge is my absolute favorite part of this whole trip. There's nothing quite like it. The adrenaline rush, it's so incredible. As for the spa treatments, the therapists are all amazing but super incredible shout out to Jessica, who is amazing. She's very attentive, asks good questions, had a great technique and was so friendly. I don't get a lot of massages, but she was very good at guiding me through the Sports Massage. A+ You can order food from the pool, too. So you don't need to leave to eat at The Seed or Terras. The menu looks abbreviated, but you can actually order anything from either location - even if the Spa menu doesn't list it. One of the best places at Civana. read more

Aaron has a warm and calm disposition, extremely knowledgable of the muscle groups and how to alleviate pain. He subtly gives timely cues for your breath work to assist in therapy of the massage. Aaron has pure magical hands. I am in peri-menopause, with the onset of joint pain. I left Aarons table in pure bliss and without tightness or pain. I will faithfully return to Aaron for massage therapy. I found the Civana team to be welcoming and hospitable. The fact that this place has good reviews is both misleading and mind boggling. Our bachelorette party all purchased day passes with spa access and it was the worst experience. The classes were mainly "reserved for hotel guests" despite having paid for a pass that gives access to 2 classes, there is 1 sauna that fits about 8 people for the entire establishment, the steam room was cold and not functioning and was not addressed after notifying staff multiple times, there is 1 small hot tub that was lukewarm at best, the drinks were all pre-mixed with so much sour mix that it was inedible and the robes/towels all had misc. stains. Also, they charged my card an incorrect amount after check-out despite giving me an invoice for an entirely different amount and after nearly 2 weeks it is still not corrected. Do not recommend this place at all, don't waste your time or money. The only plus side is that the property itself on the outside is beautiful. read more

I booked a massage here for a Saturday morning, but had a doctor's appointment run extremely long and wasn't going to make it They were kind enough to let me move the appt to later in the afternoon. Once I got there I sat by the pool and ordered some lunch. The food was great, the server was very helpful and friendly. I then got to hang out in the steam room, I got it all to myself. I love a good steam room. The water circuit was nice too. While I am never going to be a fan of a cold plunge I enjoyed the hot and neutral pools. Doing the circuit a couple times was a nice way to spend my time leading up to the appt. The relaxation room upstairs was comfy and peaceful. The massage itself was a little disappointing. While the therapist had nice pressure the massage itself felt unbalanced. She never got to my hands, neck, head, or really even my shoulders even though I told her my neck and shoulders were my trouble spots. That part was a little disappointing. I'm a mom of a 5-year-old and a morning here was just the Daycation I needed. It's a child-free resort and as much as you love your kid, you need a break. I got the break I needed and it was long overdue. During the summer months, the spa opens their reservations to the public without having to stay at the resort. PERFECT. I scheduled a massage and had access to all the spa amenities for the entire day. They have a hot-cold plunge (which you have to try at least once), dry and wet saunas, and a serene outdoor pool. There are no speakers blasting music outside, so you are able to tune into the natural surroundings. For me this was needed - grounded, centered, with little noise. The massage was good - I enjoyed the hot towels. The room had its own air purifier, which I greatly appreciated as I am now keenly aware of how ventilation and air purification is essential. I'm not sure if they have WiFi - I brought my laptop and got caught up on a bit of work and used my hotspot. I loved feeling accomplished without any interruptions. They have pool service - it was only one person, but they were able to get food and beverages from their casual restaurant. The only recommendation I have for the spa is to order more umbrellas and an overhead covering for the cabanas. Shade is a commodity and necessity in Arizona. You could see everyone who entered the pool area scanning for a shady spot...and it was slim pickings. Bring your earbuds, a book, lather in SPF, and wear a well-brimmed hat and sunglasses - treat yourself to a service and spend the day away from your adorable child(ren). The spa is amazing!!! Probably one of the best spas I've been too. I like that they have a lot of specials as well, so everyone can afford it :) The winter pedicure special was great. There was no time restrictions and I was served a drink beverage with it. I really liked the cocktail they offered. It was whiskey and apple cider I believe. My facial was fantastic. I also did a special for that which had to be after 4pm. My aesthetician was fantastic! I would recommend a facial to anyone! My only complaint: I had a pedicure done and the service itself was fantastic and the person doing it. However the nail polish they used chipped within two days. A lot of people are on vacation so they can't come in and have Civana fix it! Please get better polish! People are hiking and doing various activities so we want a strong polish the will hold. The facility overall is amazing. They have a heated outdoor pool with plenty of comfortable seating. The upstairs relaxation area is huge and extremely comfortable to read a book in or order lunch in that area. They also have a large balcony you can sit on. The indoor hot tub is large and the circuit is awesome! I really did feel the affect on my body and it helped me sleep better that night. Even if it wasn't pleasant going into ice cold water! The locker rooms are very nice and they provide robes and sandals. There is water you can drink all over. I also appreciated that they had sunblock by the pool because I forgot mine. The only thing I wish they had was free disposable brushes or combs for after showering as my hair was a mess and I didn't bring one with me. read more

My go to Spa! I live in the area and go as often as I can. It's beautiful,, clean, well ran, very friendly and helpful staff.

My favorite new spa. This place is crazy. There is an entire huge space dedicated to a sauna, hot tub, and a hot and cold dipping pools. I wish it wasn't coed, but you can't have everything. You can move through the temperatures according to your preference. You want to wake up? Dip in that cold water. holy crap. The upstairs waiting area is widely spacious and includes beds for naps. My only suggestion is to provide less see through curtains for more privacy. I don't like napping with people staring at me. ;) The patio facing the mountains upstairs is gorgeous and the lounge chairs are comfy. The spa also boasts it's own private pool, which is so quiet. Love it. Great personal service. The treatments are excellent and this spa is the epitome of relaxation and indulgence. read more

Civana is a gorgeous spa and I love it. The facilities are pretty nice. I feel like they could use a furniture update around the water therapy pools as the cushions are a little bit gross and stained. My only other constructive criticism is that I wish you didn't have to wait around for a robe and slippers. They should just put the in the lockers like most spas do. Often I couldn't find anyone to ask for help and did have to wait a while both times I went to just get a robe. Seems silly. Anyway- what I love the most was my deep tissue massage with Michelle Martinez. The girl has magical hands and I have never had a better massage in my entire life. And I get a lot of massage. She is incredible and Civana should know how blessed they are to have such a talented, educated therapist. My other therapist was lovely as well and made me feel so safe and comfortable. I also LOVED the water therapy pools. The showers were clean and nice and they provided me with pretty much everything. The only reason I give it a four star rating is because I think the furniture in some places as well as the towels could use a refresh and make the robes easily accessible. That's all. read more

I came here august 31st for facials with my mother in law . The facilities are immaculate. We had such a good experience . Before our facials we went in the eucalyptus steam room , then the water circuit , after which we took in the beautiful view on relaxation room deck .This was the best facial I have ever had . WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER (except Taylor) - DO NOT BOOK Seems nice from the outside but if you read the reviews and compare with how much you're paying, don't book....especially since there is NO customer focus here. Everytime I called to get information, I got a very curt (and sometimes incorrect answer) from the staff. Then I was put in touch with Taylor who was incredibly helpful and kind and responsive and got us all set up with classes. Next up was making spa reservations and other reviews here have said, it was incredibly difficult to get in touch with anyone at the spa or make the reservations; their responses were curt and unhelpful as well. If you look at the spa menu, you'll notice the treatments are only 60 minutes long with no option to extend or book back to back in the same treatment room. There are also limited options outside of just massages; which is not very indulgent but we figured we'd try all the other things. I was finally told nothing was available and to try again later. When I asked to speak to a Spa Manager, nothing! I tried again and Hailey called back and told me there was already a group at that time and she'd try to get me in. I told her I wasn't flying across the country for just a Swedish massage she argued with me about how amazing the spa was and told me I should go somewhere else. That it didn't seem like a good fit. What?! You're not trying to make things better, you're just telling me to go somewhere else? Then, when I asked for her name to confirm I heard right, SHE HUNG UP ON ME. I've left a message to have her manager or manager's manager or someone with more common sense to call me back but cancelling our reservation in the meantime. Update: 8 hours later and NO communicatiion except a stock 'Thanks for your cancellation" email. I even responded to that repeating that I still wanted to speak to a manager and nothing. read more

Very disappointed in our ability to book ANY classes during our stay. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. The flexibility to book spa appointments was also non existent. The only response we received from the staff was that they reached out to us to tell us classes fill up. I've traveled to many resorts that offer classes activities etc with the same recommendation and never have I experienced things book weeks in advance of arriving. The staff are professional, the grounds are soothing and beautiful, the water therapy room is a perfect experience to invigorate and relax the body before a session. My day at Civana resort was dreamy! The address being Carefree made me think it was going to take a long time to get there but it took me under 40 minutes coming from Paradise Valley, nice peaceful country road driving, too. As soon as I arrived, the doormen were incredibly welcoming and kind guiding me on locations of facilities Everyone had face masks on 100% of the time, gave me a very comfortable safe feeling being there My avocado toast with a sunny side egg on top was a perfect delicious brunch for the spa day, also loved the cafe having variety selection of tea. Aqua therapy circuit was a true state of art facility, brand new, sparkling clean. After sweating in the sauna, going into the cold water, getting warmed back up in warm water pool, I felt I was getting rid of all the little puffiness I had, felt throughly cleansing! My highlight for was was the Essential Oxygen Facial by the Lead Esthetician Briana Richardson! I couldn't have been more wrong expecting average resort facial, perfect mixture of high tech equipment for better exfoliation & penetration of products and Briana's personal, warm and deeply rejuvenating touches. It's very big( on two levels), outdoor heated lap pool, indoor jacuzzi and dip pools, sauna, steam and clean locker room area. My friend had a facial and she said it was the best ever facial she has had! I had a massage and I have to say it was one of the best ones I have had. I get massages every 3 weeks back in CA but Debra was amazing. She got my neck and whole body all loosened up . I liked how slow and control her massage was on my neck . Hours later I still feel wonderful!! They offer memberships which my friend who lives here is getting. I would highly recommend this spa! I can't wait to come back at Thanksgiving time . Beautiful concept, facilities are clean and new and relaxing but they are fairly new and I would recommend waiting for them to work out the kinks before visiting. Lacks the quality professional spa customer service skills that many other amazing spas in the valley have. I'm chalking it up to them being newer and training probably still taking place? Lots of employees running around, confused and disorganized not knowing how to answer questions or provide tickets for services/food. Started before I even stepped foot onto the property with no one answering the phone for me to actually book services, had to inquire about things multiple times once there and even the valet had trouble locating our cars. Again, beautiful property with very clean and relaxing amenities. This review is strictly related to their lack of customer service skills, and to me that's what really makes a quality spa.
