When we eventually arrived at Lavender from the moment we walked in the door we felt at ease. I was a little uncomfortable at first as I didn't think this was the done thing for men but the receptionist (who also may have been the proprietor) assured me that this was not a feminine thing to do. Once we were all signed in we were brought to a private hot tub, this was so relaxing, we even remarked that we could have been anywhere in the world. To make things even better we were given chocolates and Buck's Fizz! After our private hour in the hot tub the masseurs beckoned us in to a room with dimmed lighting and relaxing music. They then asked us what strength we wanted our massages and trying to flex my masculinity I said strong. The massage itself was amazing, this was my first non sports massage and I loved every minute of it. When I stood up after I felt so loose! The professionalism of the masseurs makes the experience 10 times better, they speak to you in a whisper and make sure you are ok at every check point. The whole experience at Lavender was 5 stars, from the moment you walk in you feel more relaxed and once your treatments are complete you'll feel like you can hover out the door. Aura is one of the most luxe spas I have been to and I loved every minute of it. I had booked a Luxury Spa Pedicure which turned out to be 45 minutes and £40 pounds worth of heaven on earth. Even though I was there for a relatively short treatment (you can spend the whole day there, what bliss), I was shown to the very swish changing room and invited to put on one of those thick perfectly white bath robes that people embarrass themselves by stealing from five star hotels. I was then shown to the pedicure chair which was attached to a footbath which had, I kid you not, flowers floating in it. I then spent 10 minutes with my feet in delish smelling hot water, flicking through celeb mags and generally congratulating myself on my good fortune. Next my feet were anointed with some very expensive lotion and then my nails were filed and polished to perfection. I had somewhere else to be afterwards but had I had time I could have spent as long a s I wanted in the lounge area sipping tea or fruit juice and reading more glossies. Aura is not a cheap place to while away the hours but boy is it worth it. They do gift vouchers so start perfecting the art of dropping hints!

My friend had phoned in advance and they had arranged a bespoke pampering package for the three of us. Every effort was made to ensure we had the most relaxing afternoon. We were encouraged to slip into robes and soak up the tranquil surroundings. All three of us were pampered in the same room, with massages and manicures. After the massages we were coated in amazing smelling creams and had hot mitts and shoulder warmers applied. They then left us to relax together and enjoy the heat! As an extra they offered to treat us all to semi-permanent eyebrow makeup on the way out. Cannot think of one negative comment. Perfect for the a peaceful, relaxing afternoon.
