My wife and I had the incredible privilege of welcoming our baby at Special Delivery Co, and I can't recommend this place enough. We came in for our regular appointments throughout her pregnancy until our little one arrived at 37 weeks, so we got to know the majority of the staff. From day one, everyone was genuinely kind, caring, and extremely professional. We also attended their birthing classes, and I have to give a huge shoutout to Molly, who taught them. She was absolutely amazing. She explained everything so clearly, gave us all the information we needed without pushing any particular path, and empowered us to make our own informed decisions. Those classes taught us so much that we walked into the birth feeling truly prepared and confident. I truly believe they played a major role in how smoothly everything went. When the big day came, Charlotte and Amy were the ones by our side. They were outstanding. As someone who grew up in a family of 8 where nearly everyone went into the medical field, I've been around professionals my whole life -- and I can spot the real deal. Charlotte, Amy, Molly, and the entire special delivery staff are true professionals who know exactly what they are doing, they made my wife feel safe, supported, and as comfortable as possible during labor. Their calm presence and expertise made all the difference. The facility itself is fantastic. The rooms are clean, organized, beautiful, and have that warm "homey" feeling that helps you relax. Being able to dim the lights was a huge plus for creating a peaceful environment. The walk-in showers were another thoughtful detail -- my wife was able to shower comfortably afterward without any difficult movements. Because of how comfortable and well-cared for my wife felt at Special Delivery, she was able to progress through her contractions without any setbacks and had a smooth, problem-free birth. Husband and I never felt like weirdos for asking questions at appointments, needing more time to decide, or calling the help line for a concern after hours. Such a valuable resource for feeling confident from first appointment to last. It's taken me a long time to write this review because of the strong frustrations my wife and I have felt toward this company, but I must caution anyone against planning their birth with Special Delivery. The inner workings of this company are not nearly as "pretty" as the external packaging would lead you to believe! The reality is that Special Delivery is a revolving door of overworked midwives in a facility that is more Instagram-worthy than functional and we did not get the support we deserved during our birth at their center as a result. The midwives are stretched too thin and the owner tends to push her own agendas, as others have pointed out. During the birth, we were left in a room that was poorly set up for a safe birthing process (slippery floors, no handles in the sharp-edged tub, no birthing chair to sit on, etc) and we didn't get checked on for a majority of the 24 hours we ended up being there. The only midwife on the premises spent all of her time elsewhere, leaving critical decisions to a student midwife who didn't know enough to manage a full birth, yet they required us to pay an extra $500 to the company in cash to have her attend as a condition of giving birth there! The result was that my wife wasn't checked or measured when she should have been and a bad call resulted in my wife pushing when she shouldn't have. This complicated the process and ultimately prolonged the birth. It also led to greater tearing, our baby being stuck in the birth canal for an extended period, and my wife being far more exhausted and uncomfortable during the actual birth than she should have been. The bedside demeanor of the midwives wasn't great as they were tired and exhausted themselves. Sadly, our experience prior to the birth wasn't much better. Staff was always pleasant, but we rarely got to see the same midwife more than once or twice as the staff turnover here is nothing short of concerning. As soon as we connected with someone and hoped they could attend the birth, they'd quit and we'd have to try to get to know and connect with another person. This happened multiple times over the course of just a few months and I recently discovered that none of the midwives or assistants employed there at the time of our birth work there any longer. That's not a good sign! Ultimately, Special Delivery is in it for the money and image more than the experience and care of their patients. They present a pretty package that makes you want to sign up, but still treat you like a number when it matters most and their facilities are not as birth-friendly as they would have you believe. I wouldn't recommend anyone birth here if they can avoid it. Even a home birth at the hand of one of the MANY former midwives that have passed through their doors is likely to a better and safer experience overall! read more

To start with, if I could give ZERO stars, I would! Now for the review... Review of The Special Delivery Co. - A Mother's Perspective Posted by Johnna Sutton, Alexa's mother This is my personal review of The Special Delivery Co., located at 102 E Highland Dr, Arlington, WA. I'm sharing this not out of malice, but to raise awareness and help other families make informed decisions. If you're considering a birth center, please know that while many offer beautiful, low-intervention experiences, they may struggle to pivot appropriately when complications arise--or fail to involve medical professionals in a timely manner. This experience occurred June 13-14, 2025, during the labor and attempted delivery of my daughter Alexa's first child. Alexa labored at the center for over 24 hours with contractions consistently five minutes apart. At no point during that time were we informed of her cervical progression. When I inquired early on, I was told, "We don't do numbers." As her condition worsened, the lack of communication became increasingly concerning. All vaginal exams were extremely painful and triggered violent vomiting that continued well after each check. She was unable to keep down fluids or food, was visibly exhausted and dehydrated--yet no IV was offered until her partner, Parker, explicitly requested one. This is a basic intervention that should have been provided proactively. Her membranes had ruptured and meconium was present, but we were never informed of the gravity of this situation. At one point, Alexa was encouraged to begin pushing, despite being clearly fatigued and making no progress. I insisted on knowing her dilation, and only then were we finally told she was at just 3-4 cm--almost 48 hours after rupture. When I asked whether this, combined with the meconium, was cause for concern, the response was: "It's kind of a pink flag." To be clear: the decision to transfer was made by Alexa's support team--not by staff. After witnessing her condition deteriorate and feeling that our concerns were minimized, we insisted on immediate hospital care. At Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Alexa underwent an emergency cesarean section. Shortly after delivery, she went into septic shock, and her newborn daughter, Eden Jovie, was admitted to the NICU with respiratory complications. Alexa herself was admitted to the ICU. The ICU at Providence is in a separate building miles from the Family Maternity Center, which meant that Alexa and Eden were not reunited for over 48 hours. It is our firm belief that had the transfer been delayed even slightly further, the outcome could have been catastrophic. The team at Providence acted swiftly and with great care. We are forever grateful for their intervention. After the birth, we requested Alexa's records from the birth center. We were shocked to discover that key information was missing, including cervical dilation progress, meconium documentation, administered herbs, and general observations. The only entry was IV fluid intake. This represents a serious lapse in professional documentation and accountability. Additionally, basic physical care was left to family and friends throughout the process. Alexa's support team changed her pads, cleaned her body, and even cleaned her vaginal area--tasks that should never fall solely on loved ones in a licensed facility. Perhaps most disheartening of all, no one from The Special Delivery Co. has reached out to check on Alexa or baby Eden since their emergency transfer and ICU/NICU admissions. The complete absence of follow-up communication is deeply disappointing and reflects a disturbing lack of continuity in care. While I believe in midwifery and natural birth under the right conditions, I cannot recommend The Special Delivery Co. based on this experience. The lack of clinical judgment, communication, and follow-through resulted in a traumatic--and nearly fatal--birth. I share this so other families can ask the right questions, be aware of warning signs, and advocate for both peaceful and medically responsible births. The good news is, three days later, Alexa and Eden are doing well. They were reunited, and both are healing, thanks to the exceptional care at Providence Everett. We are thankful. I could not be more grateful to have such a knowledgeable, personable and safe care team watching over my babies and I during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum recovery period! Charlotte and her team and simply the best of the best. Charlotte is so knowledgeable and calming. Even through a very stressful pregnancy, she was reassuring and confident. PLEASE READ!!!! negative stars. Please understand that some medical "professionals" lie about their statistics to continue to make money. I gave birth to my son via emergency C-section at UW hospital, after being abandoned by Charlotte Geddis Lacsaul when I found out my first born was breech at 36 weeks. after the first failed external version Charlotte sent me to, I was told to go to UW and lie to the practitioner (against my Better judgement) telling them I had not attempted a version two days prior. I was terrified, so I trusted Charlotte and did what she said. My son went into distress, it almost took my life and his, and when the practitioners found out that we were told to lie to them by Charlotte, they told me that this was not the first second or third time someone had come in needing an emergency C-section after receiving care from Charlotte specifically. They said this is a recidivist situation, and their hands were tied in terms of going after her themselves. It was up to the patients, who were mutilated and traumatized, as a result of her abandonment and lack of capabilities. I am telling this story to save lives, on every platform I can until her license is revoked, including letters to WA State DOH. Please make informed decisions about your care and think twice about giving your money to this birth center. There are definitely other options around. I beg you to not support somebody who is OK with risking women's lives and lying about it. The only reason why this birth center exists, and Charlotte is still practicing, is because these women's and babies lives were saved by the grace of God, including mine, and my son's. I'm sure someone will die under her care eventually and then she will finally be sued and lose her license. Apparently she's already lost her license once, and opened it again under a new name, per what the OB who saved my life told me.
