Well sorry for the late review but it has to be done! I brought my jeep in because it had been broken into while I was at work. The alarm was installed by the previous owner at the Specialist less than a year ago. They did not connect the back door to the alarm system and that was where the thief got in to rob me of over $300. When I informed the shop they said sorry must have missed that one. Then I asked how much to connect it and an under hood pin it was $200. I need the vehicle secured so I agreed to pay the hood pin itself broke in less than a week and the rear door is now secured buy get this connecting the alarm to the overhead light. Seriously a 10min job and now I have to wait for the dome light to go out so that I can set my alarm. REALY!! I could have had an entire new system for the $200 dollars they charged me. What a RIP OFF. read more

I've been coming here for years and so has my whole family. I truly think I have been a customer 20 years and have referred many friends here. That has changed. I am recently totally dissatisfied with the Specialists service and product. I have had my car in 4 times regarding our most recent purchase and the car stereo still does not function correctly. My husband bought a Kenwood deck (KDC_X599) for my Subaru to replace the factory unit. It is the unit that was recommended to him as "the best." My original factory unit worked fine but my husband wanted me to have a stereo I could plug an iPod into. The Kenwood has been nothing but problems. The Specialists had my car almost 1 day to install it. Well, they never tested the stereo before giving me my car back. The stereo was total static, my heater cable no longer worked and the stereo faceplate was scratched. I was told by Alex that he would call me once they received another faceplate for my stereo and I could return the car to have all of the issues addressed. I never received a call back. One month later, I called the Specialists. Alex told me how long it had been and I reminded him that he was supposed to call me when he received the faceplate. I took the car back in and again left it all day. I now was working with Jerry. The heater cable was fixed, the face plate was fixed, but the radio still had static. Apparently, it had been tested with the key in the "accessory" position but not in the "on" position. I was then told I needed an additional antenna and I could pay for the antenna and they would do the install for free. However, the antenna was not in stock and would have to be ordered. Fast forward another month. The antenna was installed and, while the reception is better, there is still static on many channels. It often is so bad that I cannot hear the channels. I stopped by and Bruce, the head of installation, sat in the car and listened to the static. He agreed that he would not be happy if it was his car. He said he would check into a fix and get back to me. That was at least 6 weeks ago and I have not heard from anybody. After the initial install, Bruce did tell me that they replaced some wiring and the wiring install they took out was better. I do not know if that is the problem, if the stereo is faulty, but I do know I have a stereo that sounds terrible and nobody at The Specialists can fix the problem. Went to get a window re-tinted after some meth head was nice enough to smash it out in broad daylight. Guys got me in on short notice, took care of the window, and I was done in under half an hour. The loss of stars was for the attempts to upsell - I am sensitive to this as a woman - and the proposed charge to diagnose a radio problem. I'd probably go back, especially for tinting. but I almost always have my guard up around car shops - just like being a chick in a bar, you have to be careful to make sure some guy doesn't try to take advantage of you, and this place was better than most but I'd still watch it. read more

I explained what I was interested in and he took the time to thoroughly explain the different options and prices. I desperately wanted to get the work done as soon as possible and Daniel was able to schedule me for the next day. As planned I brought my car in the following morning and once again Daniel walked me through the various options and helped me decide which made the best sense, based on what I needed. I left my car there and drove away with my wife. Throughout the day, Daniel kept me informed of the progress and status of the work and called me again to let me know it was ready and I could come to pick it up. What a great experience. I walked in one day and told Anthony what I was looking for. He was able to pick out a receiver for me that fit all my needs and worked with my budget. These guys know their stuff. I told them the kind of car it was going into and they found all the parts they needed and whats great is nothing had to be special ordered. They drew up a quote for me and though it wasn't "cheap", I am so satisfied with the work that was done and their attention to what I needed. They worked around my schedule and were done with the install in less than 2 hours (when they had initially quoted me 3-4). What's funny is that after I received a quote from them the first time I went, I went to a local competitor who beat the quote by a whole $20. But when I compared their customer service, their neatness of the offices, and the overall feel that I got of both places, I was glad to spend 20 more for a job well done. Bought a 2004 Volvo that was in desperate need of a new stereo. I walked into the clean, well-lit shop and was immediately greeted by Alex. He assessed my needs, asked some clarifying questions, and pointed me to the correct stereo for me without trying to upsell me to something I did not need or want. I made an appt for the following Monday to have my stereo installed. I was told it would take the afternoon, but they had it done and working in a little over two hours. Alex called me personally to let me know it was done. When I arrived back at the store, Alex took me back to the installation bay, showed me how to use the stereo, helped me pair my Bluetooth phone, and made sure that I had a good understanding of the operations of the unit before I left. He gave me his business card with his personal contact info on it. The stereo worked great--for five days--then it just stopped working. I could not get it to power on or anything. I took it into the shop without calling to set up an appt or anything--at about 4:30 on Friday afternoon. Alex greeted me at the door by name, immediately took my info and brought the car back to his installers, they had the very simple problem fixed in minutes--and he took the time to show me how to fix it if it happened again. He then made sure his tech guys had no other issues that they were worried about, and had me on my way in about 15 minutes total. I knew I was going to have a bad experience when the first person I encountered to do a simple diagnose & repair for a car stereo says that they're car audio department is closed... even though I already booked an appointment 2 days before. I knew it was going to be an even worse experience that when person I had an appointment with didn't even bother to do a diagnosis on the stereo. All he did was just have me turn on the radio... and then had to ask SOMEONE ELSE what they thought the problem was without even doing a damn thing. Really? Specialists? They're more like specialists at giving horrible customer service. Not only did they not want to even diagnose what the problem was, they had the idiocy to claim that their car audio repair man was the ONLY one in Tucson? Puh-leeeze. read more

I had these folks install a Pioneer radio head in my 2017 Jeep Wrangler. They did a very clean job. The gentleman who took care of me ensured I was happy with the unit. Alex, the Eastside District Manager, took a good deal of time and showed me how to work the various controls. When the moving front part didn't function to his satisfaction (it was a bit sticky moving in and out), he apologized and took the car back to the shop and made sure the unit was working smoothly. I suspect you may pay a little more for having these folks do the work, but they do it right and seem very concerned about how their customers are handled. read more

I was very impressed with the service here. I called ahead of time and asked if they had the car stereo model I wanted, and they did, and we scheduled an appointment for an install. When I arrived, I was greeted before I even closed my car door, and was told that the stereo was prepped and ready for the install. I was asked if I wanted any water, and if I had a preference as to what channel I wanted to watch on the television in the waiting area. Less than 45 minutes later, my stereo was installed, and I was given a quick tutorial on what buttons to press to use it. Amazing service. The whole time, I felt confident that I was in good hands, and I even have a lifetime warranty on the install. My overall cost was a bit higher than the two other places I had quotes from, but it was definitely worth it to pay for a piece of mind and great service. I bought a used truck a year ago that had a factory CD/radio. The CD player didn't work and one of my speakers sounded weird. I decided to buy a new receiver and possibly new speakers (depending on my budget). I called The Specialists for a quote (Speedway) and spoke with Anthony. He was very helpful and answered all my questions. He offered to show me the receiver that I was asking about. I drove over and we talked about my budget. I'll admit I spent a little more than I wanted, but I'm extremely happy with Anthony's customer service, the unit purchased and the installation. Evidently, there were some issues with my original speakers, but they thought it was a pinched wire and did a fix. I didn't need new speakers after all. The best part: it took almost two hours. I thought I would have to return and leave my truck. I didn't know anything about audio sound systems and I was worried I was going to get hustled. The manager Alex has no problem taking over $2,000 they sold me a police radar that was incompatible with my system and instead of telling me that they just charged me for it and put it in a box in the car and did not install it I then had to return for that, then after the second time I returned they messed up my entire air conditioning system so I had to go back for a third time for them to fix that. Their staff is unknowledgeable and extremely rude and all they're trying to do is get you to spend as much money as you can in there but they're not worried about taking care of you afterwards or making sure you get the right support or help. I had 6 month old JL Audio blown speaker that was installed by "the other chain," and getting the runaround on replacing under the 1 year warranty. They wanted to take them out, send them in and not do an in-store replacement. Ridiculous. SO, I know I should have gone to the Specialist in the first place. I had an appointment with Eli at the Auto Mall locations. We reviewed options and what could be causing the problem and to replace the front door and dash components (2014 Tundra). He said they would review my amp and check everything to see if that was the problem. The new speakers and tuning are fantastic! And on top of it, they will send back the JL Audio with my original receipt so I don't have to deal with the clowns down the street. I purchased a 2014 Cadillac SRX last week and the only thing wrong with it was that part of the CUE (touch screen) was distorted but it did work fine. I did some research and found that a new screen offered for 140.00 through Amazon looked like the best quality option for my car. A few years back I had a good experience with The Specialist on Fairview, they installed a new radio an old Mercedes. The job too a few minutes under two hours and the charge was 408.00 to install the screen, this was higher than the quote on the phone when I made the appointment. After leaving I discovered that the portion of the touchscreen used to change radio stations was not working properly, I is pretty messed up. I then discovered that the front of the console area was not in alignment with the single cd player in the dash. You can hear the disk inside continually trying to be ejected. They cannot see me for 8 days to take care of the disk not being ejected. The screen manufacturer says it was the install, the installer says it's the screen so basically I'm out over 500.00 for nothing! Meanwhile the motor trying to eject the cd that cannot find its way out may burn out. This is a total bad experience and a lot of money for absolutely nothing. Beware and find somewhere else to take your car! read more

Had an amazing experience from the second I walked in door until the last second before picking up my car, and still haven't stopped having an amazing experience ever since. The system is not only incredibly but stays nice crisp and clean sound through out all volume ranges. Alex Drachman was the my main man when it came to picking out the stereo. While designing the stereo he broke it down simply enough for me to understand and if I wanted details he had more than enough knowledge. I left there with no questions unturned. Colby was the one who did the installation, of the stereo, have had it for a couple of days now absolutely no problems. I have over the years I've had much work performed at this location; they've worked on stereos for me as well as window tinting. They've always been very courteous and professional. Recently, I went in with a antenna problem on one of my BMWs and they said I needed a new antenna. So I made arrangements to have the antenna installed and I waited in the waiting room until the job was done. However, I was only in the waiting room for about 15 minutes drinking my tea and watching the football game when the guy came in and handed me back my keys! He said it was only a fuse, your original antenna is perfectly fine. They sort of made a joke out of the fact that they couldn't sell me the new antenna plus the labor but the fact of the matter is they could've put the new antenna in and charge me the 160+ dollars... I wouldn't have known the difference. But they chose to be honest instead and give me back my keys and send me on my way. Complete disregard for customer property, customer service, and satisfaction. Upon arrival to inspect my vehicle after receiving a window tint service, the first thing I noticed was very apparent scratches all along the rear of my vehicle. This was a classic vehicle, all original, that has been cared for meticulously over its lifetime. That being said any imperfections were undoubtedly accounted for prior to the service. Leon, one of the representatives who had been assisting me from the start, was fast to the scene and attentive to my concerns. He addressed my concerns by contacting the technicians and owner to investigate the situation. As I was waiting for the owner in the lobby, I noticed a man approaching my car with a rag and buffing solution; in an apparent mad scramble to remove the evidence. That man was the owner, who instead of greeting me as a customer was clearly more concerned with his liability in the circumstance. I ran outside to meet this man and as he paused from evidence tampering the first thing he said to me was "they didn't do it". The following 30 minutes was without a doubt the most unprofessional treatment I have received at a business. The owner continued to aggressively argue with me, in front of his staff and customers, about how his technicians "only made the surface scratches but not the deep permanent ones". He continually contradicted himself until it was clear I was only receiving the run-around. His only solution for resolve was to send me "video" in the mail which I may or may not receive in the next few weeks. Of which, I can only hope has not been altered to remove even more evidence. Not only did he have zero concern for resolve, I left his business feeling like I had just paid someone to do damage to my personal property. I spent the next couple hours inspecting my vehicle for damages and even checking for stolen items. What a nightmare. read more

I am always greeted w a smile when I walk in the door. Every time I walk in I have a problem so that's an atmosphere that rests easy on my peace of mind. I came in before Spring Break by two friends from Italy wanted to drive to the Grand Canyon, Albuquerque for Heisenberg House from the show Breaking Bad and a music festival in San Diego. I thought I better upgrade from factory to Pioneer, a trusted and longstanding icon for American music listening. I go in and within an hour I'm out of there educated w all 4 speakers upgraded and a new Pioneer deck that is super pretty. (A deck is the name of the face panel that clicks off for anti thefts d is the control panel for the sound system.) Plus, they have done all this w discounts off the equipment! I brought strudel from Whole Foods when I arrived that first time bc I'm Chinese and that's how we do w new business friends. I want them to do a good job, and that's what I get. My buddy from Italy had a great time treating his Italian best friend to an iconic road trip thru America's West and the whole time they had great sound quality from a great stereo system. Niccolo had never been to the USA before he came to visit us in Tucson and he was stunned by the drive from San Diego to the Grand Canyon driving thru storied lands and in the vastness of the empty and sublimely forbidding desert, comforted by his favorite music. He's claustrophobic and has depression so he likes to hide and didn't like new experiences so getting him comfortable for a 9-day journey was helped by a small car adjustment of a new music system. I needed a slight adjustment and he could not have been more accommodating; when I arrived, he called a Tech to handle it; the Tech was Bruce, and he too is amazing. Stopped by to get a quote on a full system for my vehicle - including a battery isolator and back up battery, sound proofing, etc. Probably a multi-thousand dollar job. I spent time with the salesperson going over all of the details and then left - after being told I would be emailed a quote on the job. A week or more later nothing. I called. I stopped by. Salesperson not there - was offered another quote - which would have required me to go through the whole process again. No thanks. Another call - nothing. Eventually I received a quote - which was incomplete and did not have the details of the parts we had discussed. TOTAL EPIC FAIL. I went elsewhere. read more

I have a 95 firebird, huge back window, i got quotes from around town for window tint, not only did i get the best price but the best quality of tint, i have a lifetime warranty i had no idea you could warranty tint but it is. The tint started to bubble because I had it done in the winter and I was advised by the salesman to not worry if it bubbles because it means the heat of the Sun to help set and the fact that my back window was so big but I took it right in and they fixed it no problem. read more
