The staff was great and helped me pick out a nice blueberry black tea and it was made perfectly iced with a small bit of honey. Quaint little place chock full of spices and teas. Upon entering the store, you immediately smell the fragrant aromas from a multitude of spices near the entrance. There is a nice little "garden" sitting area with a couple of tables and a few chairs if you opt to sit there and drink your beverage. It's a spot worth checking out if you want a nice, freshly brewed unique tea. Being a small shop, the prices are not exactly cheap, but we love supporting small businesses and don't mind when the quality is high (which it was). Main Street has no shortage of places to pop into, and this is a spot we were happy to have checked out during an impromptu trip to the strip yesterday. read more

I've recently started drinking tea but I'm not a fan of green or just plain earl, so I wanted to see what else was available. You are able to smell the containers as well as ask the staff questions and get recommendations. I ended up getting a small sample of a burbon tea which is rich and has caramel notes which is great with some milk in it. My favorite tea shop whenever I come into town! I only gave 4 stars because sometimes service can be slow due to lack of staff during some peak hours. I will say the staff is always pleasant. I love the tea combinations available, they are vibrant and robust, some people may frown at the high price tag for the bags of teas but fail to remember they pay more for a meh cup of coffee from Starbuck's that doesn't compare to one cup of properly steeped tea from this shop. read more

We were walking on the street on a casual Saturday evening when we came across a tiny door next to a candy shop. one step into the store, we were captivated by the aroma of a huge collection of teas and spices artistically shelved in such a fashion that despite the limited space inside, the customer would comfortably browse through the collection in comfort. We also got to sample the two spices we were interested in. I'm going to be back to purchase the salt brick they have on display pretty soon. We also ended up purchasing creme brulee herbal tea but to be honest the collection was full of varieties that it took us 30 minutes to decide on our final choice. They are very knowledgable about their teas and they spent time to understand our preference and made suggestions accordingly. We also noticed a tea bar that we didn't try. Such a cute little shop! I came in today to check out their selection of teas and I was impressed. I was happy with the customer service and how detailed she was I'm describing the different tea flavors to me. I was interested in finding a tea that was naturally sweet with no added sugars or honey. She did a great job with recommendations. I also like that they have a reward system for every $10 you spend you get a stamp. Once you make it to 12 stamps you get $10 off your purchase. For some reason I am just now seeing the respose from the manager of the S&T exchange, but wow, that is not at all what happened! When we came in, I very kindly and politely asked if it would be at all possible to exchange the tea, as it was not what I was expecting and I did not enjoy it. I was apologetic, and tried to make sure she knew I wasn't trying to be insulting, but that it wasn't what I had anticipated at all. I was not "rude and demanding" even a little, and what made my husband so angry was that the manager was so rude to me! She shut us down immediately, was not apologetic AT ALL, and then lied about not being able to take returns! Dang lady, way to lose another star, since you decided to respond in such a manner. Also, saying the tea shouldn't taste even similar "because it comes from a different place" is silly. If I buy English breakfast or Earl Gray tea, I expect it to taste much the same no matter where I buy from, because that's the TYPE of tea it is. Why would Golden Monkey be any different? This was such a fun shop to pop into! They have so many different things; salts, teas, sugars and spices that they blend in their store. The woman working was SUPER friendly and SUPER helpful. She made me excited about their products because she was excited about them. She had recommendations on how to use everything. It would be so fun to go get a new spice and try one of her recipes. I wish it wasn't so expensive. But, specialty spices usually are. It would be a treat for me to buy something from here. We are from Jacksonville, Florida and there is a store in St. Augustine so I will pop down there to visit that store! Come and check it out! This is one of my happy places in DFW. I had one near us when we lived in Orlando FL and it was a go-to for specialty spices and cooking needs. I love their blood orange and rose tea but their teas are very sweet and I tend to like my tea darker and "british". Therefore I go here mainly for the spices which are fantastic. This time I was tempted by garam masala and my favorite steak seasoning. Want to impress some well deserving house guests or your significant other with a great steak? Pan fry some mushrooms as a topping, marinade some well cut pieces of steak in Guinness and Worcestershire sauce, and top with the espresso rub steak seasoning from the Spice and Tea Exchange and thank me later. ;) read more

I was actually showing my sister and her husband around grapevine doing some souvenir shopping before they flew back to New York and we found this AWESOME place. First of all I'd like to say the women working there was such a delight she was so knowledgeable about all the products and very sweet. She went over the spices with us and my sister (who is a vegetarian) asked if they had anything for vegetables... what a relief the lady had an answer right away didn't seam confused at all. I say all this because having my vegetarian sister down here in Texas was so funny almost everywhere we went ppl looked so puzzled by the work vegetarian like what do you mean you don't eat steak this is Texas !!! LOL ANYWAYYY I can't say enough good things about her I must have asked a million questions about the teas like where's the sleepy time or what can I drink for this or for that and she knew right away ! We bought 6small packages and got one free (mix and match teas and spices) So far I've only tried one of the teas and I love it ! While ringing us up the lady asked if any of us were prior or active military and my husband is a Vet so she gave us a discount which was awesome !! I have been meaning to add some more supplies to my spice rack. I love adding spices to my roasted veggies and fish! I walked in and was greeted quickly. I browsed a little and then the woman who worked there came to greet me and ask what I was looking for. She recommended a few spices for me, and I got to smell a lot of them which is just wonderful to grasp what kind of dish you will end up making with that spice. I do agree that it might be on a pricier side vs getting spices from a grocery store, but in the end when you compare the quality and you only need a teaspoon per 3 ounces of fish lets say, it goes a long way and I think the price is justified. I came home and made a stir fry with veggies and used the ginger teriyaki along with the scorpion pepper sea salt. Wow was that spicy and I loved it!!! I can't wait to make more and more creations with all the spices I got and I will definitely be coming back for more once I run out. read more

I love this store. The only reason I didn't give a five star rating is because the prices are pretty high. I love the variety they have in tea and spices. It's a small store but there is a big selection to choose from. The sales woman I spoke to was really helpful and recommended some great options. They have a (Tuscany Spice Blend) that taste amazing on homemade garlic bread. If the prices weren't so high I would shop here more often, but I'll definatley be back to make small purchases every once in a while. read more

Moved to Grapevine in April 2013 and just found this place last weekend. We will definitely be back! I love the wall of different flavored salts and will be trying them out for future recipies. We used one of their dry rubs on a turkey and mulling spice to make a cider. And were blown away by the quality and freshness of the spices. We will definitely go back. I have walked by this store many times during past visits to Grapevine. I love to cook and enjoy trying new spices. Additionally, I love to drink and learn about different teas. I was very disappointed with what I observed on a recent visit to this store. The visit occurred during the Christmas holidays. Shortly after I entered the store, I heard a lot of loud noise coming from the rear of the store. As I made my way around to the back of the store, there appeared to be a party going on in the back break room - even though the store was fairly full of customers. The noise level was so loud, it was difficult to hear what the one lady who was actually working was trying to communicate to me. I felt sorry for her. She was the only one working out front and was trying to help me and the other customers while the other employees stayed in the back. The noise coming from the back of the store was not only loud but the conversation I could hear from the other side of the of the curtain was inappropriate. For a moment I thought I was in a college bar - not a tea and spice shop. Very disappointing experience. read more
