Tonight my boyfriend and I were there to see the live music and get a pizza. For context I am 31 and he is 30. we didn't ask to order alcohol, we only wanted a pizza. she demanded to see our IDs. Then she told me that she expected them to be fake, using a condescending voice the entire interaction. Then she loudly pointed out the non alcoholic drink section of the menu. we ordered some sodas because we felt like she would be even meaner to us if we didn't order a drink of some sort. While social distancing rules have suspended the in-person tours, you can still peek through the window from the main shop and see the rows of hydroponics. Inside the shop are coolers with various types of lettuce or herbs, and the availability depends on what is ready for harvest. It won't be the same thing every visit. In addition, Swanky Roots carries product and general knickknacks from local places. I've tried two of the different types of lettuce, the Butter and the Oakleaf, and some of the tomatoes. I can see why the Butter lettuce is popular -- the name suits it, for being a very smooth lettuce, almost like spinach, but without that slight bitterness. The tomatoes -- perhaps it wasn't a fair comparison -- but I had some tomatoes from the market and some from Swanky Roots. Aw geez, there was simply no comparison. I could make the argument they were two different kinds of tomato and that's why the taste was so different, but realistically, I don't think that would even explain it. The Swanky roots tomato actually had some flavor. If you see any Swanky Roots produce, take a chance and give them a try. You might be pleasantly surprised.
